Prayer to open bible study

Dear Lord Jesus, we long to see You in our midst today as we meet together as Your people. Lord God, how we bless You that we can come together as Your children and call upon You in prayer as Father. Father, we praise You that our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.

Father God, we come to You today in Jesus’ Name, knowing that even now He is at work in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure. Heavenly Father, thank You for the Bible, which shows us the way of salvation through faith in Christ Jesus, and the wisdom that leads to godly living. May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer (Ps 19:14).”

Dear Lord Jesus, we long to see You in our midst today as we meet together as Your people.

We, your people, long to see you in our midst today as we meet together as Your people. Without you, we have no reason for being here; without You our study is empty and meaningless. We are here because of Your love for us and our desire to learn more about You and how to follow You more closely in our lives.

We are also here because of the love we have for each other—the church family. While it is true that there are many different kinds of Christians with different beliefs and practices, we all share a common goal: to know Christ better and experience His presence in our lives on a daily basis so that He may be glorified through us (John 17).

Lord God, how we bless You that we can come together as Your children and call upon You in prayer as Father.

Father, we praise You that our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.

Father, we praise You that our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness.

Father, we praise You that our hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. Thank You for the indestructible foundation that You have laid for us in His sacrifice on the cross.

We can trust in Him for everything, rely on Him for all things, and look to Him for everything—and this is a glorious truth! We are forever secure in Christ who has secured us with His sacrifice and it is not possible that He could fail us or forsake us. What an amazing revelation of Your love, God!

Thank You for showing me my sinfulness through the life of Christ so that I may know how much more abundantly I have received forgiveness from God (Ephesians 1:7). By faith in Christ alone we are saved (Ephesians 2:8-9), but daily walking with God requires self-denial (Luke 9:23). Everything that makes up my old nature must be crucified with Jesus if I am going to serve Him effectively (Galatians 5:24). Father please help me say “No” when temptation comes because Your Word says this kind of power comes by prayer and fasting (Matthew 17:20).

Father God, we come to You today in Jesus’ Name, knowing that even now He is at work in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure.

Father God, we come to You today in Jesus’ Name, knowing that even now He is at work in us both to will and to do of His good pleasure.

As you have always taught us through Your prophets and apostles, Jesus Christ is the only Way to You. He is the Mediator between You and man; the Author and Finisher of our faith; He is our Shepherd who provides for us spiritually and physically; He is our Foundation upon which we rest secure because of His promise never to leave or forsake us. And so we pray for those who stand before us today that they would know these things above all else so that they might also know their great need for Jesus Christ—the Son of God—who was born into this world as Emmanuel (God with us) so that through Him alone there might be life eternal with You in heaven where one day without fail every knee shall bow before Him in worship forevermore!

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Bible, which shows us the way of salvation through faith in Christ Jesus, and the wisdom that leads to godly living.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the Bible, which shows us the way of salvation through faith in Christ Jesus, and the wisdom that leads to godly living.

Bless the lives of those who have not yet come to know You. Open their hearts so that they can recognize Your love for them and respond with faith to Your offer of eternal life.

Forgive us for our lack of study and understanding as we have sought to understand more about God’s Word and His will for our lives. Help us understand how important it is to read Your word daily so that we may seek Your guidance in all things.

Be with those who are teaching these studies—that they would be able to teach accurately according to what is written in Scripture; that their words would edify others by helping them better understand how much You love us; how deeply You long for us all; how far beyond what we deserve You have gone on our behalf!

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

In the book of Psalms, King David writes: “May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.”

God has given us a resource that will help us know what to say and how to think. The Bible is our source for wisdom, knowledge, understanding and guidance—and it’s also our source of comfort, hope and strength when we feel weak or discouraged. As you pray today that God would open up His Word through this study group at church or at home with friends or family members who are interested in listening to you share what you’ve learned each week about His Word—know that He will be pleased!

God of infinite mercy and love, turn our hearts from false desire that we may experience the joy of your presence in our lives.

God of infinite mercy and love, turn our hearts from false desire that we may experience the joy of your presence in our lives.

We praise you for opening our eyes to see the truth about ourselves and others. Grant us a spirit of self-examination and repentance so that we may grow closer to you through Christ Jesus our Lord.
