Nail fungus is known to be one of the worst forms of public health risks. Despite the huge advancements in medicine and general preventive measures, nail fungus is still considered a big health threat, which is why millions of people from around the world are trying to cure it nowadays.

Nail fungus, one of the most common infections among people, is a major health concern. Some people think it only affects toenails but it can also grow in fingernails, which is equally unpleasant. The main culprit is wearing shoes and socks, which gives bacteria a nice little place called a warm and comfortable home.

What does nail fungus indicate?

This dream is a manifestation of your inability to express your masculine or feminine energy. Maybe you should adopt a different perspective and method while taking on a new task or idea. The presence of toenail fungus in a given situation suggests that transparency is required. You’re going with your gut feeling even though it makes less sense. A new phase of your life’s development is beginning for you.

Sometimes the dream is to be willing to take on any challenge. You’re working really hard to discover the truth about something that’s upsetting you. A toenail fungus in a dream symbolizes your intelligence. Maybe there are qualities or attributes you need to let go of. Maybe you have to give a decision a lot of thought and analysis. The dream can indicate that you shouldn’t take anxiety medication. You become agitated over little issues and worries.

The toenail fungus represents transient nourishment or benefits in dreams. You’re trying to escape a catastrophe or issue rather than dealing with it. It is possible that you are attempting to escape the issues you are facing in your life. Your desire for a more passionate relationship with someone is expressed in your dream. You’re acknowledging or embracing a physical characteristic or instinctive desire that you possess.

The fungus under your nails is a sign that you need to regain control over something. You’re attempting to mask your melancholy. You should be more aware of and accepting of your emotions. In your dream, you must resolve internal problems or disagreements by finding a middle ground. You find it difficult to relate to the people and things in your immediate environment.

Unknowingly, we frequently come into contact with foot fungus at public places like swimming pools, gyms, local dance, karate, and pilates studios (yes, even yoga studios!), beauty salons, and even on our own towels if we have a cohabitant who has the illness.

Do you feel repulsed yet? Never again going barefoot? Although we frequently come into contact with various types of insects, fungus, and illnesses, not everyone contracts them all. Like other illnesses, a toenail infection might have underlying causes in addition to the fungus itself. The body can become vulnerable due to poor circulation, weakened immune systems, and stress.

To keep your feet nice and tidy, it’s crucial to let your shoes and socks off as much as possible because fungus likes dark, moist environments. Maintaining proper foot hygiene is also very important. Given their location at the base of our bodies, our feet are simply given a quick once-over in the shower. Rather, acknowledge your lovely feet, tidy the spaces between your toenails, use a nail brush to exfoliate your toenails, and remember to keep your toenails clean. Your feet will thank you for an occasional professional pedicure. Please visit a reputable beauty treatment clinic rather than the inexpensive ones found in shopping centers.

Spiritual Meaning Of Nail Fungus

Nail fungus is a chronic condition that occurs when the natural balance of the body is disrupted.

As you may know, your body has a natural equilibrium of good and bad bacteria, called the microbiome. The microbiome helps you digest food, fight infections, and regulate your immune system.

When your microbiome is disrupted, it can lead to nail fungus. This means that there is an imbalance between the good and bad bacteria in your body.

For example, if you have a cut on your hand and it gets infected with bad bacteria, then this microbe will multiply until it has destroyed all of the good bacteria in your body—which can lead to an imbalance known as “leaky gut syndrome.” This means that toxins from our food or environment are able to enter our bloodstream because there are no good bacteria left to fight them off!

This can cause an unhealthy cycle where we become more susceptible to illness because we’re not fighting off infections very well anymore!

Nail fungus is a common infection that affects the nail and nail bed. The fungus can be either superficial or invasive, depending on the severity of the infection.

Superficial infections are characterized by discoloration and yellowish or white spots on the nail surface. People with superficial nail fungus will also experience thickening, brittleness and separation of their nails from their beds.

Invasive infections involve deeper parts of the nail bed and involve pain, inflammation and cracking.

What Does Nail Fungus Mean

A toenail fungal infection (onychomycosis) definitely isn’t a glamorous topic, but it can be an interesting one. Think you know all there is to know? There may be facts about toenail fungus that you’re unaware of.

5 Facts About Toenail Fungal Infections

Lesser-known facts about toenail fungal infections include:

1. It tends to stay local. Some people think having toenail fungus means they’re harboring unsavory organisms throughout their body, but that’s not the case. While it’s true that some fungal infections can wreak havoc in the body, the fungus that affects toenails tends to stay on the nail or in the area immediately surrounding it, says Richard Goad, DPM, a podiatrist with Baylor Scott & White Health in Temple and Killeen, Texas. “Don’t get too worried about it,” he says. “It’s a problem in the nail plate and nail bed.”

2. But it can spread to other parts of the body. If a fungus is affecting one of your toenails, the toenails surrounding it are more likely to develop it as well, Dr. Goad says. In some people, the fungus can also spread to the surrounding skin, causing athlete’s foot. Sometimes the fungus can be passed to the genitals (jock itch) when underwear is pulled on over infected toenails. “If your toenails are infected, put socks on before you put on underwear,” says Peter Joseph, DPM, a podiatrist with Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh.

3. Age is a risk factor. The older you get, the more likely you are to develop a toenail fungal infection. Adults over the age of 60 are particularly susceptible.

4. It can be contagious. It’s unlikely that you’ll catch toenail fungus from having coffee with a friend, but if you live in close quarters with someone who has it, be on the alert and take preventive measures. “Don’t wear a person’s socks or use their shoes if they have a toenail fungal infection,” Goad says. “Beyond that, the chance of it spreading to others is very low.” You can also reduce your risk of picking up a toenail fungal infection by wearing shower shoes in places like a public pool or gym locker room.

5. An injury can lead to an infection. If you damage your toenail with an ill-fitting shoe, for example, the nail can separate from the nail bed, allowing enough room for a fungus to take hold, Joseph says. “The organisms that cause toenail fungus are common inhabitants of our everyday environment in showers, hotels, and outdoors,” he says, “so the chance of exposure is high.” If you experience a nail injury, watch carefully for signs of a toenail fungal infection. Signs include a nail that becomes white, yellow, brittle, or thick.

Foot Massage Toenail Fungus

Unknowingly, we come into contact with foot fungus all the time, at the pool, gyms, our local dance/karate/pilates studios, (did you notice I didn’t add a yoga studio, but yes, there are too) beauty salons, and the towels in our own house if someone who lives with you has this condition.

Are you grossed out yet?  Never wearing bare feet again?   We do come into contact with bugs, fungi and infections of all shapes, sizes and strains all the time, but we don’t all get everything.  A toenail infection, like all diseases in the body can have contributing factors apart from the fungus itself; poor circulation, immune system deficiencies and stress can all leave the body vulnerable.

Fungus love dark, moist conditions, so it’s important to air your feet and get your shoes and socks off as often as you can to keep your feet sweet and neat.  Regular cleaning of the feet is super important too.  Our poor old feet are right at the bottom of our bodies, and we can easily just give them a cursory once-over in the shower.  Instead, take notice of your beautiful feet, clean in between all your toes, give your toenails a scrub with a nail brush, and be sure to keep your toenails clean too.  A professional pedicure every once in a while does wonders for your foot health too, and please go to a good beauty therapy clinic, not the cheapies in the malls.

I know we girls love cute, sexy, and hot high-heeled shoes, but one of the best things you can do for your feet is to keep those pointy sky highs for special occasions only.  I can see the crosses coming out, as this advice is  anathema to shoe lovers, but the best shoes for our lovely feet are box-toe shoes with lots of room for toes to spread out in their natural formation, or, horror of all horrors, no shoes at all.

Toenail fungus can seem like just an unsightly annoyance, but it can get really serious.  If left untreated, it can cause your toenails to become misshapen, which could cause pain and even difficulty walking, and it can cause your toenails to drop off.  It can spread into the surrounding tissue and cause an athlete’s foot, and even worse, it can spread to the groin, causing jock itch!  Triple ewww.  Both men and women can get jock itch, so your not off the hook, girls.   Most importantly, if your skin is cracked and raw around your toenails, bacteria can enter the body and cause cellulitis, a bacterial infection of the skin. It’s not nice and can get super serious.

If one part of the body is out of balance, the whole body is out of balance, and foot health is a big part of our overall well-being.  Vibrant health is what we are looking for and we can have it; sometimes we just need a few tweaks to help us get there.

In reflexology and in many complementary medicine modalities, your toenails are considered to be a real reflection of your internal health, so if your toenails are looking different from normal, you can be assured something else is up too.  It’s a great idea to get your nails checked by a Naturopath every now and again, as the nails can show up mineral and vitamin deficiencies in the body as well as issues with the organs.  It’s an art and a science; they look at the ridges on the toes, vertical and horizontal, spots, areas of thickening and discoloration.  There are lots of charts on the internet, I know, but getting a professional opinion is always best.

Is your thinking a bit fuzzy?  Tired, out of sorts?  In the tops of all the toes, and the big toe in particular, are the reflex areas for the brain.  The fact that our big toe is the one most often affected by fungus is no surprise to me.  How much stress, anxiety and tiredness have you got going on in your world right now?

Give your toe pads a good rub every day to keep your brain tickety, especially your big toes, and a handy hint: if you can’t remember something, you know, when it’s on the tip of your tongue, but the ol brain isn’t firing on all cylinders.  Rub your thumb pads; all the reflex points in your feet are also in your hands.  Oh, and sniff rosemary; it stimulates the brain and boosts memory.  Great for when you are studying, before exams, and great when you are feeling a bit tired, like that afternoon tired, ditch the coffee and pick a sprig of rosemary for your desk.

The big toe holds the reflex points for the pineal, pituitary and hypothalamus glands, so it’s also a really important area of the foot in regards to hormonal balance.

It also reflects our relationship with spirit, with something greater than ourselves.  It is the self-expression toe, connected to unity, oneness and the ego.   It holds the throat, third eye and crown chakras.  Are we speaking our truth and saying what we really need to be saying?  Are we seeing things clearly, as they really are, or do we look at life through rose- or gray-tinted glasses, only seeing what we want to see?  Are we connected to our higher selves and walking our true path?   All food for thought.

Right, the bit you’ve been waiting for—treatments.  There are lots of over-the-counter treatments you can buy, including liquids that you brush onto the nails, and I have heard from a few people (with very early signs of fungal infection) that these can work.  There are also oral anti-fungal treatments, but these do not come without risk; the liver can be adversely affected by these drugs, and my understanding is that they are pretty (excuse the pun) hard to take.

Natural Treatments:  Oregano Oil is a powerful antifungicide, and there is great reading on this for you here. Always use high-quality essential oils, and always consult an aromatherapist or naturopath before using essential oils. They are strong and just like pharmaceuticals, they can have side effects and not all herbs are safe for all people.

Cider Vinegar & Baking Soda: Mix together 1 cup of cider vinegar and 1 cup of water and soak your tootsies for about 15 minutes once daily.  Be sure to dry well after the treatment.  Then make a paste of baking soda and water and immerse your toenails in the paste for about 10 minutes, clean off with water and again pat dry as dry as possible.

Tea Tree Oil is used in the same way as Oregano oil, but I have heard Oregano oil is much better for fungal conditions.

There are loads of other home remedies, including Listerine, beer baths, white vinegar, and probably a few more.  Go forth and google. Just remember natural remedies require us to keep up the work of the process, we can’t just do it once or for a few days and hope for the miracle cure.

I hope this information is of help to you, if you have a fungal toenail infection, see your GP or podiatrist, as left untreated toenail fungus can be serious.  And whatever you do, look after your feet, you’ve only got one pair,  and really, our feet, there all kinds of neat.  I love em, and I hope you love yours too.

PS  Yoga is great for your feet too,  It doesn’t get rid of fungal nails, but it does keep feet strong and supple, and of course Reflexology to clear energetic blockages in the body, release toxins and keep the lymphatic system flowing.  You can still have reflexology if you have a fungal infection, we just work around the area.  Many people feel embarrassed of their feet, and I am here to tell you, there is no need.

Long Nails Spiritual Meaning

Very long nails are a sign of cowardice and cruelty of the dreamer, the dreambook of the 21st century states. If you were cutting them off, you should be ready for quarrels and misunderstandings.
