Prayer For Someone Going Into Surgery

Whether it’s for a family member, friend, or someone else you care about, prayer for a loved one is powerful and necessary. Even though we are not God, we should never be afraid to ask Him for help. One of the best ways we can pray is to submit the person to whom we’re praying to God.

Dear God, Please watch over my dear friend as they go into surgery. Give them peace and still their anxious heart. Direct the doctor’s hands skillfully as they undergo surgery on my friend. Let my friend feel Your hand upon them and let them be comforted by Your presence in the operation room.

    prayers for healing and strength

    Dear God,

We confess our need for you today. We need your healing and your grace. We need hope restored. We need to be reminded that you work on behalf of those you love, constantly, powerfully, completely. Forgive us for trying to fix our situations all on our own. Forgive us for running all different directions and spinning our wheels to find help, when true help and healing must be found first in You. Forgive us for forgetting how much we need you, above everyone and everything else. We come to you and bring you the places we are hurting. You see where no one else is able to fully see or understand. You know the pain we’ve carried. The burdens. The cares. You know where we need to be set free. We ask for your healing and grace to cover every broken place. Every wound. Every heartache. Thank you that you are Able to do far more than we could ever imagine. Thank you for your Mighty Power that acts on behalf of your children. We reach out to you, and know that you are restoring and redeeming every place of difficulty, every battle, for your greater glory. Thank you that you will never waste our pain and suffering. We love you. We need you today. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Lord, Jesus, here I am again, asking You to do what only You can do in my life. Scripture tells me that You are the same yesterday, today, and forever. You are the God who performs miracles! So do a miracle in me! Heal me through and through! Deliver me from my tendency toward anxiety and worry. Show me how You fight for me. Give me a vision for what a healthy-healed-me looks like, and help me to go after that girl with tenacity and purpose. Take my efforts and multiply them, Lord. My soul waits for You to do what only You can do. I love You, Lord. Amen.

I ask for your healing over every part of my life – physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I ask that you’d make me strong and resilient for the days ahead. I know that you have great purpose for those who believe in your name. I lean fully on you Lord, for You alone are able. I love you; I need you this day, and always. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Father God, we know there is pain in this fallen world. You told us there would be. And we know the enemy of our souls wants to torment us. Remind us of your truths, Lord. Let us reflect on them. And wrap ourselves up in them when we are in pain, or we feel alone. You said in Numbers 23:19, that you are not a man that you should lie. If you said something, you will do it, if you spoke it, you will make it good. Thank you for always answering us when we call. And thank you that you said in Romans 8:27 when we don’t know what to pray that the Holy Spirit will pray for us. Thank you, God, that no matter what we go through, you will always be there. We pray this in Jesus’ precious name. Amen.

Father, You will not leave me alone, for You are near. I may have affliction, but You deliver me. You are so loving and faithful. So I look to You now, Father, keep these bones. I ask for healing and give You every ounce of glory. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

prayer for healing for a family member

About a year ago, I sat in an office where an oncologist told my husband after three battles with cancer that sometimes you just have to have faith. I sat there and thought about how the burden of healing sickness is never on the patient, how it is never even on a doctor, but how it is always, always, on God.

The burden of healing falls on my God who knows the plans he has for me even when my own hopes collapse around me. The burden of healing lies in my God whose ways aren’t a faith formula, but a mystery. The burden of healing doesn’t lie in saying just the right words or praying something that sounds beautiful. And I don’t know about you but that frees me up to pray a little more boldly for God to heal.

Lord Jesus, thank you that you love [name of the person who needs healing]. I know that you hate what their illness is doing to them/me. I ask, in the name of Jesus, that you would heal this disease, that you would have compassion and bring healing from all sickness.

Your word says in Psalm 107:19-20 that when we call out to you the Eternal one you will give the order, heal and rescue us from certain death. In the Bible, I have read of miraculous healing and I believe that you still heal the same way today. I believe that there is no illness you cannot heal after all the bible tells of you raising people from the dead so I ask for your healing in this situation.

I also know from my experience of life on earth that not everyone is healed if that happens here then keep my heart soft towards you, help me to understand your plan, and help me to be excited about heaven.

Lord Jesus, thank you that our hope for healing is in you. If there are doctors or treatments that you would want to use to heal this disease I pray that you would guide [name of the person who needs healing] to them. I ask for wisdom and discernment about which treatments to pursue.

God, I thank you that [name of the person who needs healing] belongs to you and that you are in control of everything that happens from our first breath to our last sigh.

    Amen.

May this prayer for the sick guide your thoughts and communication with the Lord! Remember that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us when we do not know what to say. God knows your heart!

I ask for your healing over every part of my life – physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I ask that you’d make me strong and resilient for the days ahead. I know that you have a great purpose for those who believe in your name.

Help me not to allow the distractions and struggles of my days to weigh me down to the point of exhaustion. I know that your desire is for me to live this life abundantly and free. And my greatest desire is to reflect your love and light to a world that so desperately needs your hope.

For those I love who are facing cancer or a hard diagnosis, I pray for your covering of healing and grace. I pray for your strength and your great peace to fill their lives, reminding them that you are close. Thank you that nothing is impossible with you. Thank you that you’re fighting for us and you are bigger than anything this world throws our way.

I lean fully on you Lord, for You alone are able. I love you; I need you this day, and always.

    In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

    Almighty God,
you are the only source of health and healing.
    In you there is calm,
and the only true peace in the universe.

Grant to each one of us your children
    an awareness of your presence,
and give us perfect confidence in you.

In all pain and weariness and anxiety
teach us to yield ourselves to your never failing care,
knowing that your love and power surround us,

trusting in your wisdom and providence
to give us health and strength and peace
    when your time is best;
    through Jesus Christ our Lord

    Almighty God,
you know that we are surrounded by many great dangers,
and because of our human frailty
    we cannot withstand them.

Give us health of mind and body
so that we who suffer under sin
    may overcome and win the victory in you;

through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen.

Lord, I commit my failures as well as my successes into your hands, and I bring for your healing the people and the situations, the wrongs and the hurts of the past.

Give me courage, strength, and generosity to let go and move on, leaving the past behind me, and living the present to the full.

Lead me always to be positive as I ‘entrust the past to your mercy, the present to your love, and the future to your providence’.

Gracious Father, all health and healing are gifts from your hand. We pray for [Name], give his doctors and nurses the wisdom and skill as they work for his healing*.

While he waits and faces many unknowns, calm all doubts and fears with the Word of your promise that nothing can separate us from your love that is ours in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:39).

Speed [Name]’s healing if it is your will, and give him an extra measure of patience as he waits for you to work all these things for his good (Romans 8:28); through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
