God and Father of all, we praise you that all things which come to us are yours. Holy Father, you’ve commanded us to give, and you’ve instructed us to give generously and joyously. Even when we’re tempted to keep back some of that for our own use, we thank you for the virtue of generosity. You have taught us to be generous in our giving to God’s work. You’ve also taught us to be generous in our employment, working hard, with all our might. You’ve taught us to be generous to those in need. MARK 12:41–44
And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums.
