Father, we come before you today to ask for guidance in our lives. Guide us as we face the trials of this world, and help us to find strength in each other. May we be able to see each other’s faults, yet love each other all the same. Open our hearts and minds so that we may accept one another as they are. Grant us patience with one another and a willingness to compromise when necessary. We pray for protection from harm, for wisdom in times of doubt, and for peace in our homes.
Even though we can surely pray without stopping by praying for other people throughout the day, I also feel that getting up early in the morning to spend some time in prayer before I start my day is something that comes highly recommended to me. It is also recorded in Mark 1:35 that Jesus rose early in the morning to pray. It was common for him to withdraw from big groups of people in order to spend time alone with God.
There is nothing quite like the peaceful silence that comes with the dawn’s first rays. At the same time that the sun is getting ready to greet another day, we can get our hearts ready to spend some time in prayer with the Lord in a calm and uninterrupted manner.
