restoration meaning in the bible

What is Restoration in the Bible? A blog talking about restoration in the Bible and what it means to us.

Restoration is a term that refers to the reclamation of something that was lost. In the Bible, restoration can be applied to many things, including the people of God and their relationship with Him.

As it pertains to people, restoration can refer to the return of an individual’s or community’s original purpose. This can include spiritual matters, such as the return of someone’s devotion to God; physical matters, such as the regaining of health; or both.

As it pertains to God’s relationship with His people, restoration refers to His forgiveness for sin and His acceptance of us back into fellowship with Him. This happens through Jesus Christ, who is our mediator between ourselves and God (1 Timothy 2:5).

Restoration in the Bible is synonymous with healing, repairing, returning to a previous state of being. Psalm 51:12 says “Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.” Although we may stray from steadfast faith and obedience, there are numerous Bible verses about restoration we can look to for inspiration for renewal in our lives.

Restoration is a recurring theme in scripture as those who strayed from the teachings and love of God sought to restore their divine relationship with Him. Further occurrences of repairing what had decayed included personal relationships, fortunes, and health.
