Character Reference Letter From A Pastor

Want a Character reference letter from a pastor? Check on the pastor’s recommendation letter for employment and the letter of recommendation for Christian character. Leadership development is an important part of the intern experience. It allows interns to take ownership in their development as they collaborate with staff, other interns and community partners.

This project will provide support for Student Ministry interns as they develop leadership skills. It also builds on our church’s leadership development opportunities, including Mission Sunday (where college students are invited to express Godly leadership), a mentoring program, a social service project and the Rotating Intern Team (which exposes each intern ministry to another ministry).

The purpose of this blog is to provide readers with a sample letter of recommendation for a pastor, a Pastor Recommendation Letter for Bible College, the kind of person [person name] is, and why I know that he or she would be an excellent fit for your organization.

If you’re a Pastor, Teacher, or an Employer you may get asked to write a letter of recommendation quite often. To simplify this process, you may want to memorize an easy formula that outlines how to write your letters.

    • 1. Determine the Purpose of the Recommendation Letter – Why are you being asked for this Recommendation Letter? Is it for your church member’s acceptance into a certain school, employment purposes, or to get into specific program? It is important to understand what the purpose of the letter is so that you can highlight appropriate characteristics.
    • 2. Make a List of Positive Attributes – Write down a quick list of positive attributes and characteristics of the church member for whom you are writing the letter. Don’t worry about grammar or spelling just get the list down first.
    •  3. Link the Attributes to the Purpose of the Letter – Now choose which positive attributes match characteristics the recipient of the letter would like to see highlighted. Is this letter going to a dean of a college? Highlight academic efforts. To a potential employer? Highlight examples of responsibility. To a Pastor of a church? Highlight examples of moral conviction. This should be accomplished in 1 paragraph of 3 to 4 sentences. If you are not a skilled writer, consider writing a bullet-point paragraph such as the following example. I feel Jane is qualified to be a counselor in your summer camp program because she is:Organized Responsible Good with children Creative Energetic
    • 4. Find One Specific Example that Exemplifies Character – It’s tempting to write lengthy letters of recommendation that ramble on and on, but it’s best to keep the letter short and to the point so it will read. Write a one-paragraph story about a specific experience with the person or member in question where she displayed good character. Keep it short, but specific. I have two different sample Recommendation Letters below from Pastor to school, employers, etc., for church members.

Character reference letters are typically written by people who know an individual well and can attest to their character, integrity and other personal traits. These letters are often written on behalf of people seeking employment and they can be written by friends, co-workers, pastors or others but usually not relatives.

    Sample:

A local pastor has written this sample character reference letter on behalf of a member of his congregation who is looking for employment in the educational system. She wishes to obtain a job as a paraprofessional, or teacher’s assistant, in a first grade classroom at an elementary school in the community.

Character Reference Letter From A Pastor Example

    To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to recommend a friend and colleague, Pastor (Name). I have known (Name) for the past eight years and can attest to his high moral character, ethics, work ethic and leadership abilities. He is an excellent teacher who has served as pastor of our church for the last six years. In this capacity, he has shown himself to be an effective administrator and leader who has consistently brought new people into our congregation.

I have found him to be an excellent communicator who is able to engage people of all ages with his deep knowledge of Scripture and his ability to relate it to life issues we all face. He has also proven himself capable of leading discussions with challenging questions that challenge us to think deeply about what we believe as Christians. I am confident that he will make an outstanding Bible college student as well as an excellent pastor in years to come.

    Sincerely yours,

    Dear Dr. Everett:

I have had the privilege of working with Angela Jones for the past 12 years on many projects at ABC Community Church, and it is with great pleasure that I recommend her for a position as a paraprofessional at XYZ Elementary School. Angela and her husband, Mike, moved into the community 12 years ago when her husband was discharged from the United States Air Force and obtained a job as a commercial airline pilot. They immediately joined the church and became active workers in the children’s ministries. Now they have two children of their own, but remain actively involved in church programs and activities.

Angela does most of her work at the church in the children’s department. She is the first grade Sunday School teacher and is loved and respected by her students and their parents. She is kind, patient and compassionate when dealing with the children, but she still maintains a disciplined and orderly Sunday School classroom. Angela has boundless energy and is extremely creative. Her enthusiasm and animation when telling Bible stories keep the children enthralled and the crafts she devises to go along with the weekly lessons are clever, easy to make and fun for the children. In addition, she manages to include learning activities in the Bible lessons, such as simple math problems or spelling exercises.

My wife and I happen to live in the same neighborhood with Angela and her husband. They are wonderful neighbors, always willing to help individuals in the community who are in need. Every Spring Angela and her husband host the neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt in their backyard. It is a well-organized, enjoyable event that all the children and parents look forward to attending each year. I know that Angela is actively involved in the Parent Teacher Association at XYZ Elementary School where her children and my children attend classes. She has taken on the responsibility of successfully coordinating the end-of-year Field Day and picnic for the past three years.

It has been my honor to know and work with Angela and her husband, and I am confident that she has the experience, character and personality necessary to make an outstanding paraprofessional at XYZ Elementary School. The children and first grade teacher would be fortunate to have such a dedicated and enthusiastic person working in their classroom.

    Warm Regards,

Sample Letter of Recommendation For A Pastor

    To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter to recommend Pastor Dr. Peter Smith for the position of Bible instructor at your institution. I have known Pastor Smith for several years and have seen him in action as a pastor, a teacher, and a leader. He is an exemplary Christian man who has been faithful to God and his calling in every aspect of his life.

Pastor Smith has served as a pastor in our church for over five years, where he has led us in many ways. He is an excellent preacher who can connect with people on their level and teach them about God’s Word in an understandable way. He also has a great sense of humor that keeps people engaged while they learn more about the Bible.

Pastor Smith has also been a guest speaker at our church on numerous occasions, where he teaches very practical lessons from Scripture that help people live out their faith daily. He always seeks to encourage others through his words and actions, which makes him a great example for those around him.

Pastor Smith has also taken on the responsibility of teaching classes at our church’s school during the weekdays for students ages 8–12. These students have come from different backgrounds and have had different experiences with God’s Word
