The choir of a church fulfills a very significant role, both in the spoken and musical aspects of worship. Every choir member is expected to carry out their tasks with the utmost perfection, in accordance with the guidelines set by their respective choir leaders. However, these rules and regulations must be applied with some level of flexibility, provided that they do not differ greatly from the ultimate goal of making quality music for the glory of God.

RCCG Choir Rules and Regulations

God has established the church as a spiritual organism and has designed it so that it operates in a way that is best suited to accomplishing its divinely appointed task. God has not proscribed or prescribed the detailed internal mechanisms of His church, but He has given clearly defined spiritual laws on which the operation of the church depends. These laws are known as spiritual laws and have nothing to do with statutes, rules or regulations passed by men for any purpose, including operating the church. The laws relating to the operation of the church were not created by men but are principles of God, which are written on what men call “human hearts” (Jer. 17:9) and in man’s spirit (self).

The following rules and regulations apply to all members of the RCCG Choir:

  1. Members must always be dressed in appropriate clothing. No shorts, tank tops or sleeveless shirts are permitted.
  2. You must arrive to practice on time and prepared to sing.
  3. You must not be intoxicated at any point during rehearsals or performances.
  4. You are expected to participate in all rehearsals and performances, unless there is an acceptable reason why you cannot attend (such as illness). If you cannot make it to a rehearsal or performance, please inform your director beforehand so that arrangements can be made for someone else to cover your part(s). If no one can cover your part(s), we will have to replace you with another singer who knows those parts well enough for us not to notice a difference between the two voices singing together when they come together during performances or rehearsals later on down the road when needed again for reasons like these ones above mentioned here today which I’ve said before about being late or sick but still wanting too sing at some point later on down the road sometime soon after.

Church choir code of conduct

  1. The choir shall be a group of people who sing to the glory of God, and the church shall be a place where the unsaved can come and find salvation.
  2. Choir members should always be on time for rehearsals and performances. They should also attend services regularly.
  3. Members should respect each other as well as their conductor or band leader, even when they do not agree with him or her.
  4. Members should not talk during rehearsals and performances unless they are talking about music or what they have learnt from rehearsal or performance.
  5. Members should always dress appropriately for rehearsals, concerts, etc., e.g., no shorts, slippers or T-shirts with offensive slogans on them (e.g., no “I’m a rebel”).
  6. Choristers should not smoke, chew gum, eat or drink anything during rehearsals or performances because these things distract others from their work and create an unhygienic environment (this also applies to those who are not in the choir but are just watching).
  7. Choristers must not disturb other members during rehearsals by making noise such as playing cards

OUR MAIN CALL IS SPIRITUAL

We have a divine demand to worship God in spirit and in truth (John 4:22-24). Therefore, every member of the Choir must be born again, born of the spirit and desire to speak in tongues (John 3:3-8).

WE UPHOLD INTEGRITY

The place of the choir is a call to spiritual intensity, moral uprightness and physical purity (Psalm 24:3-4). Every member of the Choir is required to remain whole and undivided to the Bible and its dictates thereof. For, in this lies the honesty required for the assignment (2 Corinthians 8:21).

WE STRIVE FOR PROFESSIONALISM.

The choir is not a space for mediocrity, but a space for expression of skills, dexterity and excellence. (Psalm 33:1-3). The quality of music required from every member of the Choir should that can be associated with excellence and nothing less. This will require extra ordinary effort, but not one that would bring harm to individuals.

WE ARE CALLED TO DISCIPLINE

There is a code of conduct required of any choir. This code may seem intense, but this is required as we strive towards righteousness (Hebrews 11:21, Proverbs 12:1, Proverbs 13:24). Choir members are obliged to familiarise themselves with this code and observe them accordingly.

WE ARE CALLED TO DILIGENCE

The character of the music ministry entails careful and persistent effort. It is a call to serve as commanded and not as convenient. This is one value that separates one for reward (Proverbs 10:4, Proverbs 12:24, Proverbs 22:24). This requires personal effort and commitment from each Redeemed Solution Voices member.

Church Choir Agreement

The Church Choir Agreement is an agreement that is used to outline the responsibilities of church choir members. It is a legal document that the pastor or choir director can create with the help of all of the choir members, including the pastor and his family if they are also choir members. The document should include information about any punishments that may be given to members who violate any rules or guidelines. It should also include information about how many rehearsals per week are expected from each member and what will happen if they do not attend rehearsal on time or at all.

The Church Choir Agreement should also include any rules about alcohol consumption during rehearsals, which would be important for those churches that have alcohol bans in place. If there are no rules regarding alcohol consumption during rehearsals, then it is best to add these rules to your agreement so everyone knows what is expected of them.

Each choir member has the responsibility to practice and perform their part. The director is responsible for setting up and conducting rehearsals, making sure that all members are present and prepared.

The director will assign parts to each member based on his or her ability and experience.

Each choir member should be prepared to attend all rehearsals and performances with their part in hand (or on their music stand).

Members should arrive at rehearsal on time, ready to perform. If a member cannot make it for any reason, please notify me as soon as possible so that arrangements can be made.

I expect your best effort at every rehearsal and performance. If you are not able to participate due to illness or other extenuating circumstances beyond your control, please let me know as soon as possible so that we can find an alternate solution.

Punishment for Choir Members

The church choir is a very important part of the church. The choir members are a testimony to their faith and devotion. They are an example to others. The members should have a good relationship with the pastor and other staff members in the church.

The pastor should be fair and just when dealing with individual choir members. He must be able to explain himself so that the members will understand why he disciplined them.

The following are some reasons why a member may be disciplined:

1) Missing rehearsals or performances without permission

2) Being late to rehearsals or performances without permission

3) Being tardy for church services (especially those who have been warned before)
