Answer: Baptism means immersion in water as a symbol of our dying to sin and coming up out of the water as one who has been cleansed from sin through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. It signifies that we have received remission of sins through faith in Jesus Christ apart from any good works done by us (Romans 6:1-4).
Since Jesus Christ is not ashamed to call you son or daughter and to present you faultless before God the Father, it will be wise to publicly declare your stand as commanded in the Scriptures by submitting yourself for water baptism– Mk.16:15-16, Mt.28:19. It is an outward symbol of an inward reality of genuine conversion.
