One year has passed by since the moment your loved one left you behind. It’s been 365 days of emptiness, 365 days of pain and 365 days of mourning. And I know how difficult it can be to get over this loss. Only few people manage to look past the overwhelming grief of their loss when one year has gone by after the death of a loved one. Though we wish you never have to face a day like today, we understand that this may not be the only time your life is to suffer this kind of loss. We believe that Jesus Christ has the power to heal any wound, no matter how deep or painful. The prayer below focuses on the words from John 11:25 “Jesus said to her, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die’ ” A prayer of St. Francis:Lord, make me an instrument of thy peace;Where there is hatred, let me sow love;Where there is injury, pardon;Where there is doubt, faith;Where there is despair, hope;Where there is darkness, light; And where there is sadness, joy.O Divine Master,Grant that I may not so much seekTo be consoled as to console; To be understood as to understand; To be loved as to love. For it is in giving that we receive; It is in pardoning that we are pardoned; And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Dear God, We come to you today to remember [name], a dear friend who was taken from us too soon. We know that you love each of us equally and we thank you for the gift of life, but we also understand that sometimes death is necessary in order to bring peace and healing to those left behind. For this reason, we ask that you comfort [person’s] family and friends as they continue their journey through grief. We pray that they will find peace in knowing that your love is always with them, even though they cannot see it or feel it at every moment. We pray that they will feel your presence in their hearts when they need strength and encouragement, and may they always know that the memory of [person] will live on forever in their hearts. We pray these things in Jesus’ name. Amen
Dear God, We come to you with heavy hearts and a yearning for comfort. We have lost someone dear to us and we are not sure what to do with the gaping hole in our hearts. The pain is all-consuming, but we know that you are there with us and that you care about our pain. We pray for strength and peace from above, so that we may be able to carry on with life without our loved one by our side. We ask for your guidance and protection as we continue on this journey without them. Amen
Prayer For 1 Year Death Anniversary
I am looking for a prayer that I can read during the memorial of my dad’s first death anniversary. I’m not religious but want to incorporate something spiritual and meaningful in the memorial.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come to you today with heavy hearts. We are asking for your help in remembering our loved one. In your name we honor their life and pray that they may rest in peace.
In your name we thank you for the memories of their smile, the way they walked, their style; all the things that made them special to us. We are grateful for those memories and ask that they bring comfort now during this difficult time as we grieve their loss. Amen!
Thank you for the gift of life.
Thank you for the gift of life. Thank you for being with me every day, in good times and bad. Thank you for helping me grow as a person, and thank you for always being there when I need You.
Thank You for the gift of Your Son’s death on Calvary’s cross that paid my sin debt so that I may have eternal life with You in heaven one day.
It is such a great blessing to be alive in this beautiful world that you created. I am so grateful for my life, and everyday I thank you for the gift of your only son.
I am grateful for my life, and everyday I thank you for the gift of your only son. It is such a great blessing to be alive in this beautiful world that you created. I am so grateful for my life, and everyday I thank you for the gift of your only son.
I pray that you will continue to be with me every day of my life.
I pray the following prayer with you, and I know that God will be with you every day of your life:
“Dear God, thank you for loving me and guiding me through my life. I ask that you continue to be with me every day of my life. Please protect me from all harm and keep me safe from any danger and evil people who may try to do harm to my family or myself.”
Jesus, I come before you and humbly ask that You calm my troubled spirit.
Jesus, I come before you and humbly ask that You calm my troubled spirit.
It is with great sorrow that I come to you today. It has been one year since the passing of my friend and mentor, Jonathon. It was yesterday that he passed away from cancer at age 79. We were all very saddened by his death as he had been such a wonderful man who taught us many things about life, especially through his gentle spirit and kind words of encouragement. He was like a father figure for me during this time of need; letting me know everything would be okay even when it didn’t seem so at first glance or feel like it could ever happen again without him here anymore after losing someone so special towards their lives’ end…
This is why we turn our burdens over to God because no matter what happens in between us dying ourselves someday soon enough too young later this century before then hopefully sooner than later if possible please keep him safe until then thank You Jesus!
Provide peace in my worried thoughts as I face this difficult time knowing that You are near.
Prayer for 1 year death anniversary
- Focus on the present moment. Do not let your mind wander to the past, where you cannot do anything to change the situation. Instead, focus on the present and choose how you want to react in each new moment.
- Do not try to solve the problem. You cannot solve it right now, so do not worry about it! Instead, think of something else or distract yourself with something else that makes you happy.
- Focus on what you can control and let go of everything else that is out of your control at this time and place in life (such as other people).
Make my heart strong and steadfast today, so that I can comfort those around me who may need my strength to get through this momentous milestone of remembering their loved one’s passing.

- Comfort the family members who will be together in sorrow during this time.
- Comfort the community members who are also feeling pain today because they miss their friend or loved one as well.
- Comfort those at work who don’t know how to act right now because they’re so sad about what happened yesterday when you first found out your husband had died unexpectedly at home during his sleep–just after taking a bath with the kids, before he went back downstairs for dinner!
Be with our family Lord God and help us to cope especially now that the anniversary of our loved one’s death is coming soon.

Please let us know if there is anything we can do or if there is anything you would like us to do on this day of remembrance for you. We love you forever and always!

Novena Prayer For Death Anniversary
Praying that the Lord be merciful in judging those who have gone before us in faith is a deeply rooted tradition. This particular novena (a word which represents a 9-day period of prayer) comes from the Philippine culture. It may be used in its entirety, or adapted according to need.

OFFERING
Most sweet Jesus, who in Your desire to redeem the world, deigned to be born, to be mocked, to fall into the hands of Your enemies through the treacherous kiss of Judas, to be bound and brought to the place of sacrifice like the meek lamb, brought before Caiphas, Pilate, and Herod, spat on, accused and condemned with false witnesses, to be slapped and have Your sacred body covered with wounds from the cruel scourging, to be crowned with thorns, Your face covered with a purple cloth in mockery, stripped of Your garments, nailed and elevated on the cross between two thieves as if You were one of them, offered gall and vinegar to drink, and to be pierced in Your side with a lance, deliver, O Lord, the souls in purgatory from their great sufferings through Your most bitter Passion; bring them to Your glory and deliver us from the pains of hell, through the merits of Your Holy Passion and Death on the Cross, so that we may enter that Kingdom where You brought the good thief who was crucified with You, who lives and reigns with the Father and the Holy Spirit, One God forever and ever. Amen.

LET US PRAY
O God, the Creator & Redeemer of all the faithful, grant to the soul of Your departed servant N. the remission of her/his sins; that by prayers, s/he may obtain that pardon which s/he has always desired. Grant this, O God, who lives and reigns forever & ever. Amen.
O Eternal God, who besides the general precept of charity, has commanded a particular respect to parents, kindred & benefactors; grant, we beseech You, that as they were the instruments by which Your Providence bestowed on us our birth, education and innumerable other blessings, so our prayers may be the means to obtain for her/him a speedy release from her/his suffering, and free admittance to Your infinite joys, through Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.
O God, whose nature is ever to have mercy and to spare, we humbly beseech You on behalf of Your servant, N., whom You have called out of this world. That You would not deliver her/him into the hands of the enemy nor forget her/him forever, but bid Your holy angels, lead her/him into paradise, her/his true country, that for as much as in You s/he put her/his hope and trust, s/he may not endure the pains of hell, but may come to the possession of eternal joys. Through our Lord, Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever, Amen.
Be merciful, we implore You O Lord, to the soul of Your servant, N., for whom we offer to You this sacrifice of praise, humbly beseeching Your majesty that, by those holy and propitiary offerings, s/he may be found worthy to win everlasting rest. Through Our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.
Grant, we beseech You, Almighty God, that the soul of Your servant, N., which has departed from this world, may be cleansed by this sacrifice, and delivered from sins, and may receive forgiveness and everlasting rest. Through Our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever. Amen.
