Prayer is an important way to experience God as the religious believer can communicate with Him. By bringing their problems to God, or asking for forgiveness and help, they come closer to Him. Christians believe they can speak with God in prayer and were taught to pray by Jesus himself.
San Alejo is the Spanish name for Saint Alexius of Rome. He is primarily petitioned for help with recovering from poverty, protection from enemies, nurses, pilgrims and travellers.
It really depends on what reason you are petitioning him, and which faith or tradition that you are pulling from, but a common prayer to him is ….
Saint Alex, I pray to thee, through Jesus Christ I implore you. Remove this evil; remove these enemies that surround me at this time. Remove this hatred, this envy: take this person_________ far, far away. I ask of you Saint Alex and the Lord Our Savior to hear my prayers. Protect me with your shadow of goodness Lord Jesus. I kneel before you humbly and with a true heart. Through Christ Our Lord, Amen.
However, prayer is personal. Just like when speaking with a family member, your conversation isn’t scripted. The same can be said for prayer. Make it your own.

San Alejo, ¡aléjalo! (Saint Alexius, drive it away!)
I saw an old Puerto Rican prayer against hurricanes once that went San Alejo, ¡aléjalo!
It’s a tricky play on words in Spanish.
San Alejo is called Saint Alexius in English. But his name in Spanish is similar to the verb alejar, which can be translated as “to drive away” or “take it away.”
San Alejo, ¡aléjalo! (Saint Alexius, drive it away!) was said whenever a hurricane was coming.
In Spanish American folk culture, especially in the Caribbean, San Alejo has basically become the patron saint of people trying to escape something — storms, the evil eye, envy, betrayal of a lover, un tercer amante (a third lover), witchcraft, or the old Devil himself.
In practice, you can almost say that San Alejo has been translated into Spanish as “Saint Separation,” “Saint Drive-it-Away,” or “Saint Spare Me.”
There’s one prayer you’re supposed to be able to say to drive away another man or woman who’s encroaching on your romantic turf.
Hoy te pido con todo mi ser,
que alejes a (nombre del tercero)
de (nombre de quien quieres se aparte).
[Today I ask you with all my being, that you drive away (insert name of person) from (name of person you’re in love with.)]
San Alejo is believed to exercise a kind of reverse magnetic force against unwanted things:
Aléjame de Satanás.
Aléjame de la envidia,
del mal y la injusticia,
aléjame de los celos y el rencor…
Bendito tú que tienes el poder de alejar todo lo malo que rodea a los siervos del Señor…
San Alejo, ¡aléjalo!
Unfortunately, the prayer against hurricanes doesn’t work, as Puerto Ricans will have to attest after last year’s hurricane season.
