In this post, we will discuss Prayer To Expose Lies, prayer to expose the truth and prayer to reveal hidden secrets. If you are the victim of someone lying about you, use prayer to strengthen, help and defend yourself. A person who lies or is a constant liar can do a lot of damage to your career, finances, reputation, personal relationships and your emotions. God operates through justice and truth and the Bible has many promises we can pray to protect ourselves from a person who lies and from liars.
Becoming a victim of a person who lies has gotten more widespread with social media where a liar can get a bigger audience by lying online. Here is a prayer strategy to use when someone is lying about you. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep; and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there 2 be light: and there was light. —– Genesis 1:1-3 (King James version)
Prayer To Expose Lies
Lies, they’re everywhere. In politics, in countries, and even in churches. If you’ve ever had your heart crushed by a man or woman of the cloth who wasn’t who they said they were, and you’re looking for a way to expose them and show everyone the truth, you should have this blog post bookmarked.
Prayer to reveal hidden secrets
Dear God of all truth, I come to you today suffering because of a person who is lying about me.
I pray to you as the ultimate truth of the universe. I claim this promise from Jesus, “I am the way, the truth and the life.” (John 14:2 NIV.) I thank you God for all of your characteristics that embody truth. I thank you that your truth is real, reliable, just, perfect, powerful, pure, honest, strong, irrefutable, healing and life giving.
I invoke the power of the Holy Spirit, my advocate. I claim this promise about my situation, “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. “ (John 16:13 NIV)
I now lay before you the lies that have been used against. Here is what has been said about me that isn’t true ______________________________________________________.
I thank you, Jesus, that you understand what I’m going through because people lied about you when you walked the earth. You suffered and were crucified because of lies. You confronted the people who were lying about you by saying, “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” (John 8:44 NIV)
You say that liars are doing evil and are acting selfish motivations that oppose Your truth. I ask that you cover me with your protection because I cannot face these forces on my own. You alone can protect me and save me. I now claim the promises of your protection from the Bible:
“I will protect them from those who malign them.” (Psalm 12:5 NIV)
“May integrity and uprightness protect me, because my hope, Lord, is in you.” (Ps. 25:21 NIV)
“But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.” (2 Thessalonians 3:3 NIV)
Prayer to expose the truth
I now pray specifically about the aspects of my life that need protection as a result of the lies about me.
My reputation ______________________________________________
My Christian witness _________________________________________
My credibility _______________________________________________
My family ___________________________________________________
My livelihood______________________________________________________________
My relationships _______________________________________________
My freedom ___________________________________________________
My emotions_______________________________________________________________
I now pour out my emotions to you about the lies that have been told about me.
My feelings of hopelessness, fear, stress about _____________________________.
My feelings of anger and sense of injustice about _________________________________________
My feelings of betrayal because ______________________________________
My feelings of wanting to seek revenge and get even ______________________
I now take a firm stand for the truth as you tell us in the Bible,
“Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place.” (Ephesians 6:13, 14 NIV)
I stand my ground against these lies with all of the power and authority given to me by my Savior, Jesus Christ, who is my advocate and defender. I will not allow these lies to rob me of my joy nor destroy my confidence. I will not retreat and I will not lose my faith, because “Greater is He who is within me than he who is in the world.” ( I John 4:4)
I pray for your ongoing and specific guidance about how to defend myself against these lies. Please speak to me, giving me insight as to whether I should act and find legal help, speak up, talk or confront the lying person, or present evidence or witnesses for the truth. On the other hand, please direct me if it’s better for me to ignore the lies and prove them false by my own character and behavior. I now seek your guidance, praying that you will prevent me from acting until I have control of my emotions and tongue. Please guide me now ____________________
I now pray that you will give me an assurance of your presence with me, no matter what. I pray for relief from stress, for a good night’s sleep, for nurturing friends, for sanctuaries where I can escape and find rest, for truthful people who will guide me, for loving people who will believe me and for spiritual friends who will pray for me and with me.
I now put into your hands all of my thoughts of how justice might be served toward the person who has lied about me. I thank you that you are the just judge who cares for the powerless and who sees all hearts and knows what is done in secret. Thank you that you will ultimately judge everyone by their deeds.
I pray that the person who has lied about me will see the error of their ways and will repent and turn back to you. I pray that they will be prevented from continuing in their destructive ways and prevented from hurting others.
I thank you that although this seems nearly impossible to me, I thank you that with you all things are possible.
I end my prayer trusting that you are my strength and shield, a very present help in time of trouble. (Psalm 46:1) May your truth ever strengthen and protect me now and forever. Amen.
About this prayer about people who tell lies about us
What is lying?
The dictionary defines lying as knowingly making false statements or saying or writing things that aren’t true. It can also be done by deliberately making a false impression. The person lying knows that what they are saying isn’t true and by saying it they intend to be deceitful and manipulative.
People are motivated to lie for all sorts of self serving purposes – revenge, personal gain, jealousy, grudges, power and manipulation, bullying, anger, hiding guilt or avoidance of punishment.
Lying is a spiritual battle
I wrote this prayer when a friend lost a devastating lawsuit because the accuser was such a convincing liar. My friend and his family were in absolute shock because they had hoped that the truth would be apparent to the jury. I struggled as I attempted to pray for this situation and began looking into what the Bible has to say about those who tell lies.
The more I researched the more alarmed I became at how diabolical lying can be. Lying is a spiritual battle and not an easy thing to endure or combat. It is truly spiritual warfare and very destructive to individuals, families, churches and businesses.
The Bible is full of instances of lying people who pervert justice. Truth telling is the cornerstone of faith and community. The Ten Commandments say, “You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.” (Exodus 20:16 NIV) In fact, in the Garden of Eden, mankind fell because they believed a lie about God told by the devil.
Praying for those who lie about us
Because liars are doing something evil, we walk a fine line when we’re trying to pray about those who have lied about us. The tricky part comes when we want to stand in judgment against them and do to them what they have done to us.
It’s quite natural to feel this way, and that’s why we need supernatural power and guidance in prayer.
First of all, I believe in telling God how you feel about a person or a situation, because I believe he cares and he wants you to trust him with your darkest thoughts and deepest sorrows. Prayer allows time and space for us to tell God our feelings and describe what the lie has done to our lives and to those we love.
However in my struggles to pray for those who have wronged me, I have found that God wants to give me a healthy understanding of my own shortcomings so I can be prevented from seeking revenge or harboring hate, anger and bitterness.
Jesus says, “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged.” (Matthew 7:1,2 NIV) And Jesus also says, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” (Matthew 5:44 NIV)
Saint Paul quotes other Bible passages when he says, “Do not repay anyone evil for evil…Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay, ‘ says the Lord. To the contrary ‘if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head. ‘ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” (Romans 12:17-21 NIV)
It’s wise to seek the help of Christian friends, pastors and counselors to deal with the fallout of lies in our life. It keeps us from judging and punishing the liar in inappropriate ways.

The political campaigns are full of trashy lies and even those who aren’t lying are pulled into the twistings of the slanderers, and no one knows who to believe and everyone feels disillusioned.
I remember last election cycle getting a call from a sweet girl who was really perplexed about who to vote for on election day. She didn’t want to vote for a person she thought seemed like a good choice, because she heard on social media that the very person wanted to make birth control illegal. Now, this makes me want to cry and laugh all at the same time I am gouging my eyes out with pencils. Because certain candidates didn’t want to force little old catholic nuns to pay for birth control for someone else they were being slandered as wanting to take away the right for birth control. This is because those spinning political lies know they will gain power from lying.
Also, character “assassination” takes place where someone wants to cover their own behind, so they make false accusations about someone else. Everyone just assumes everyone is lying. It is maddening.
Jesus said that when someone lies, they speak the language of their father the devil. Let that soak in.
God is truth. His followers tell the truth.
The devil is a liar. His followers lie.
This is what Jesus said, not me. I am just repeating him.
Doubtful+Ducreux+2.+Liar+liar+pants+on+fire_521b70_3408214imagesWhere do we get the playground phrase, “Liar, liar pants on fire?” Well, this little kindergarten rhyme is from Revelation, of course. The little babies don’t know they are quoting an apocalyptic scripture.
Revelation 21
A New Heaven and a New Earth
21 Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!” Then he said, “Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.”
6 He said to me: “It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life.7 Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. 8 But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
This is not a drill. This is for real. Of course, this list of people are those who have not repented of their lying and other sundry sins and turned to the savior of our souls, Jesus Christ. Jesus died to not only save us from hell, but to cleanse us of all unrighteousness. Jesus gives his followers new hearts and minds through his redemption and through the resurrection.
Prayer for forgiveness of lying
That being said, this passage shows us that those who profess Christ will turn from their wicked ways and allow God to do a great work in them. This is great indeed, because we are unable to attain this righteousness on our own, but only can receive it from Jesus. And Jesus will finish the work he began in you. If you struggle with the sin of lying, this is something to take seriously. When the Holy Spirit reminds you that you just lied, that is HOPE! Repent! If you are feeling bad about reading this, that is hope as well! That conflict is from the Holy Spirit. Jesus is giving you the ability to turn from your sin and embrace his forgiveness and transforming power.
If you are the victim of lying, If people are spreading lies about you or lying to you, this Psalm 12 is a fantastic prayer. If you are a parent of a child or children who lie, this is a prayer time for you! If you are a friend or family member of someone who lies, this is for you! It is a real chance to pour your heart out about it. There is nothing quite so disturbing as being lied to or lied about.
The liar wants to protect themselves, when the person who loves God puts their trust in God to protect them and if they have done something wrong, they know the best place to turn is the forgiving arms of a father who loves them. A lack of humility is usually one of the biggest reasons someone lies. It says in James, “Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord and he will lift you up.”
Prayers for forgiveness. If you have lied in your life. (Haven’t we all done this at one point or another…?) This is a time for reflection and soul-searching. You come to a God of grace. This is the time for turning from lies to truth, from the devil’s path to God’s path of holiness. God will not reject you for admitting or confessing your lies. He wants to hear from you with an honest heart.
Prayer to break the spirit of deception
“Father, in Jesus name, I come to you broken over lies in my life. I know that, Jesus, you said when we lie, we speak the language of our father the devil. I do not want to speak a prideful, self-serving language. I want to speak your language~ the language of truth and humility. I want to put others above myself. Please forgive me for lying. Forgive me for exaggerating to make things seem better or worse than they really were. Remove all lying from me, Oh Lord. Create in me a clean heart, Oh Lord and renew a right spirit within me.
Show me if there is any unclean way in me and lead me in the way everlasting. Show me why I lie, Lord God. Show me how to get victory over lying, so I can walk as an overcomer, in Jesus name. I believe in your son Jesus Christ and I ask Father for you asking you to do a new and great work in my life in the area of truthfulness. Forgive me for all my sin and fill me with your Holy Spirit to overflowing. Put a guard over my mouth and change my heart that I may bring honor to your name. Take away a spirit of deception from me, in Jesus name. I command deceit and lying to leave me, in Jesus name. Father, uproot it from my life! Open my eyes so I can see the truth and not to be deceived by others. I realize that since I have walked in lying it has had authority over my life. I pray and give you all that authority I gave to the lying, in Jesus name. (Romans 6 We are a slave to the one we obey.) Teach my heart, Lord God. You are Lord of my heart. Break my heart over my sin, and give me a renewed desire for you and for truthful relationships. Give me patience, if there is someone I need to rebuild trust with, in Jesus name. Help me to win back all lost confidence in time and with your help, Lord Jesus. Amen!”
Psalm 12 is a cry from the heart who is tired of lying. Read it then pray it!
Psalm 12
For the director of music. According to sheminith. A psalm of David.
1 Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore;
those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.
2 Everyone lies to their neighbor;
they flatter with their lips
but harbor deception in their hearts.
3 May the Lord silence all flattering lips
and every boastful tongue—
4 those who say,
“By our tongues we will prevail;
our own lips will defend us—who is lord over us?”
5 “Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan,
I will now arise,” says the Lord.
“I will protect them from those who malign them.”
6 And the words of the Lord are flawless,
like silver purified in a crucible,
like gold[c] refined seven times.
7 You, Lord, will keep the needy safe
and will protect us forever from the wicked,
8 who freely strut about
when what is vile is honored by the human race.
Prayer time:
“Help, Lord, for no one is faithful anymore;
those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.
Everyone lies to their neighbor;
they flatter with their lips
but harbor deception in their hearts.
Father, I am really tired of all the lying. There is deception everywhere. Not just deceptive words, but also deceptive intentions. It seems that everyone is hiding something. It also seems that the truthful go punished for their truthfulness. It helps to know that King David felt this way, so long ago and that your Word has stayed the course all these years, in the face of lies and evil of all kinds! God, you see those who are lying. You know their intensions of the heart. You see every word that has been brought against me. You know how weary I am of hearing people slander other people and the darkness that is all around us in the world. Oh Lord, you must be so much more tired of it than I am, but you are so much more patient. You are such a good and awesome God! I am so sorry that you must endure the pain of wickedness coming up before your throne day after day.
May you silence all flattering lips
and every boastful tongue—
those who say,
“By our tongues we will prevail;
our own lips will defend us—who is lord over us?”
Oh Lord~ stop them in their lies. Uncover the lies. Give these liars a chance to repent by uncovering them for their lies in front of everyone, in Jesus name. Father, thank you for uncovering the lying people who cheated on their spouses through Ashley Madison. I pray that you will continue to uncover sin. Expose it and give more chances for repentance, in Jesus name! Father, I pray about specific situations right now. I pray for _, in Jesus name that you convict this person of lying, pride and fear in Jesus name! I pray that each time they lie that you will speak directly to them and tell them to repent, in Jesus name!
Thank you for your good words, Oh Lord! “Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan, I will now arise,” says the Lord. “I will protect them from those who malign them.” Protect those who are in the line of fire from those who lie. I pray for those women who are in abusive relationships with liars, Lord Jesus. Wake them up to the deceptions and the power of manipulation over their lives, in Jesus name. Break the chain of abuse and manipulation in relationships, in Jesus name. I pray for those employees who are being oppressed by lying. I pray for the moms and dads who are struggling with lying teenagers, in Jesus name. I pray for you to bring a strong conviction. Give the gift of repentance, Holy Spirit. Give repentance, in Jesus name. Give relief to those struggling and give them hope in Christ to pray for those who are stuck in the middle of deception. I pray, in Jesus name that you break the power of a lying spirit over _ in Jesus name. Break Satan’s power of habitual lying in _ person in Jesus name!
