Prayer for Respect

God, help us to have respect for one another, so that we may live more harmoniously together and trust in you more. Help us to respect differences and appreciate the gifts of others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer 1:

Dear Lord, we come before you today asking for the virtue of respect for life. Help us to see the beauty and sacredness of every life, from conception to natural death. May we always treat others with dignity and respect, knowing that each person is created in your image. We ask for your guidance and strength to always choose life in all circumstances. Amen.

Prayer 2:

Heavenly Father, we pray for the grace to respect all of your creation. Help us to be good stewards of the environment and to treat animals with care and compassion. May we always remember that the earth is a gift from you and that we are called to protect and preserve it for future generations. Give us the wisdom to make choices that honor and respect all living creatures. Amen.

Prayer 3:

Lord Jesus, teach us to respect our bodies as temples of the Holy Spirit. Help us to make healthy choices and to avoid anything that would harm us physically, emotionally, or spiritually. Give us the strength to resist temptation and to always honor our bodies as precious gifts from you. May we treat ourselves and others with the respect that is due to children of God. Amen.

Prayer 4:

Gracious God, we pray for the virtue of respect in our relationships. Help us to see the inherent dignity of every person we encounter and to treat them with love and kindness. May we be quick to forgive and slow to judge, knowing that we are all sinners in need of your mercy. Give us the grace to be humble and to always seek the good of others above our own desires. Amen.

Prayer 5:

Lord, grant us the gift of respect for authority. Help us to honor and obey those who are placed in positions of leadership, knowing that they are there by your divine appointment. Give us the humility to submit to their guidance and the wisdom to discern when to speak out against injustice. May we always remember that you are the ultimate authority and that all earthly authorities are subject to your will. Amen.

Prayer 6:

Dear Heavenly Father, we pray for the grace to respect diversity in our communities. Help us to embrace people of all races, cultures, and backgrounds with open hearts and minds. May we celebrate the unique gifts and talents that each person brings to the table, recognizing that we are all made in your image. Give us the courage to stand up against racism, discrimination, and prejudice wherever we encounter it. Amen.

Prayer 7:

Gracious God, guide us in our efforts to respect the sanctity of marriage and family life. Help us to honor the commitment between husband and wife, and to cherish the gift of children as blessings from you. May we always strive to create loving and supportive homes where all members are valued and respected. Give us the strength to weather the storms of life together and to always put the needs of our families above our own desires. Amen.

Prayer 8:

Lord Jesus, we pray for the virtue of respect in our words and actions. Help us to speak and behave in ways that build up others and reflect your love and grace. May our words be filled with kindness and encouragement, and our deeds be marked by compassion and generosity. Give us the grace to apologize and seek forgiveness when we fall short, knowing that through your redemption we can always start anew. Amen.

Prayer 9:

Heavenly Father, we humbly ask for your guidance in cultivating a spirit of respect in our hearts. Help us to see the inherent dignity and worth of every person we encounter, and to treat them with the love and compassion that you have shown us. May we always strive to be peacemakers, reconciling differences and seeking common ground with those around us. Give us the courage to stand up for justice and truth, even when it is difficult. Amen.

Prayer for Respect

Dear God,

I pray for respect. I ask that you give me the strength to show respect for myself and others.

Help me to be honest and open with my thoughts, feelings, and emotions. Help me to be fair when dealing with others. Give me the courage to stand up for what is right in all situations.

Thank you for this day and all of your blessings.

Dear God,

I come to you today as a humble man, asking for respect. I have been working hard at my job, and I feel like I deserve some recognition. I have been working so hard that my boss is making me do overtime without paying me extra. Can you please help me out here?

Thank you.

Dear God,

I come to you today in prayer. I have a special request: please give me the respect I deserve.

I have been working hard and doing my best, but my boss still treats me like I’m not worth the time she spends yelling at me. Please help her see that I am your child, created in your image and worthy of respect.

I know that this is a lot to ask—you are busy with a lot of other things, after all. But please consider this request as one of your highest priorities. It would mean so much to me if you could make it happen!

In Jesus’ name, amen

Dear God,

Today I ask for Your help in gaining respect from my coworkers. I have been working hard to do my job well, but I feel like my efforts are not being recognized. Please help me to see that I am doing an excellent job and that if anyone is not treating me well, it is their own fault. Help me to be confident and strong enough to stand up for myself when necessary. Amen

Lord,

We come to you today in need of your guidance. We ask that you please respect us and our fellow humans. Please help us to see the importance of respecting each other—no matter who we are or where we come from—and help us to treat everyone with kindness and respect. Thank you for hearing our prayer and helping us to live out your message every day. In Jesus’ name, amen.

prayer for respect for life

The Prayer for Reverence for Life expresses the core values of the Respect Life Office. Join the thousands of Catholics within the Archdiocese who pray it weekly during Mass.

Almighty God, giver of all that is good, we thank You for the precious gift of human life:

For life in the womb, coming from your creative power,
For the life of children, making us glad with their freshness and promise,
For the life of young people, hoping for a better world,
For the life of people who are disabled, teaching us that every life has value,
For the life of the elderly, witnessing to the ageless values of patience and wisdom.

Like Blessed Mary, may we always say “YES” to Your gift. May we defend it and promote it from conception to its natural end. And bring us at last, O Father, to the fullness of eternal life in Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen

prayer to respect god

Scripture Reading:

Luke 1:68-75, I Chronicles 16:8-34

Reflections of the Heart:

Our God is an awesome God.  He is kind, tenderhearted, and merciful.  Our Father loves us with an everlasting love and He is always concerned about our welfare.  He provides all that we need through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit.  God should always be revered and adored.  He should have our utmost respect.  Today, bless the Lord by giving praise and worship to God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit!

Scriptural Prayer:

Gracious Father, we bless You. Thank You for being the King of Glory.  Thank You for being our Father, Redeemer, Shepherd and King.  Thank You for reconciling us back to You through Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.  We are thankful to You for the Holy Spirit who is the promised advocate who empowers us to be effective witnesses to Your Kingdom here on earth.  Thank You for loving us and watching over us.  Lord, let all that we are praise You.  We will praise You as long as we live.  We will sing Your praises with our dying breath.  Our hope is in You, the Lord, our God.  You created heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them.  You keep every promise forever.  We stand amazed at how awesome You are!

Awesome Father, today, we revere and honor You. You are our God and we submit our loyalty and adoration to You. You are the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. You existed before time and created everything that exists.  Lord, only You have held the ocean in Your hand.  You measured off the heavens with Your fingers and You know how much the earth weighs!  You are truly amazing!  Father, all nations of the world are but a drop in the bucket to You. They are nothing more than dust on the scales.  You pick up the whole earth as though it were a grain of sand!  Lord, You sit above the circle of the earth, the people below are like grasshoppers to You.  You spread out the heavens like a curtain and make Your tent from them.  When we look up at the sky, we know that You created every star that we see.  You bring them out like an army, one after another, calling each by its name.  Because of Your great power and incomparable strength, not a single one is missing.  Lord, You are the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth.  You never grow weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of Your understanding. You are good to everyone and shower compassion on all of Your creation.

Take a moment and reflect on God’s presence in your life.  Now, write down three things that You are grateful to Him for and begin to praise Him:

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Glorious Father, please let Your ears always be attentive to our prayers.  Holy Spirit, continue to teach us how to love You, Jesus, our Brother, and our Father, God.  Please touch the hearts of those who do not adore the Lord, and help them to love Him with all their hearts, souls, and strength.  Please remind each of us of the many things that God does for us daily and help us to spend more time in praise and adoration.  Help us to be a thankful congregation who reflects the glory of God by the way we live our lives.  Holy Spirit, help us to always be mindful of Your presence in our daily lives and help us to be quick to respond when You quicken us to action.

Caring Father, forgive us as a Church Family for sins of pride, rebellion, disobedience, selfishness, hatred, and idolatry.  Lord, forgive us for half-hearted worship.  Forgive us for disrespecting Your Name and treating You irreverently.  Forgive those who choose to not bless and honor You during Your feasts, which are Your special times of celebration.  Forgive those of us who are parents for not teaching our children to revere and adore You.  Lord Jesus, forgive those who take Your sacrifice for granted.  Holy Spirit, forgive those who do not acknowledge You or Your presence in their daily lives.  Lord, forgive me for (list any sins that you have committed).  Holy Spirit, remind us all of those we need to forgive and help us to be quick to forgive.  As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive. (Take a moment and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal names or faces of people that you may need to forgive.  As He reveals them, say, “I forgive name of person(s).” Now, trust the Lord to heal any wounds in your soul caused by unforgiveness.)

Holy Spirit, help us all not to yield to temptation but deliver us from the evil one.

Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God, the Almighty.  Just and true are Your ways, O King of the nations.  Who will not fear You and glorify Your Name?  You alone are holy!  All nations will come and worship before You, for Your righteous deeds have been revealed. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
