5 Seconds of Prayer Can Be All It Takes for Musical Success: A blog about being in a band and how prayer can help.
Dear God,
I pray for the musicians in this world.
I pray that they know you, and that they know themselves.
I pray that they know their own worth and value as human beings, and that they are able to see themselves as valuable.
I pray for them to have peace in their hearts and minds, so that when they play their music it comes from a place of love and joy instead of from a place of anger or fear.
I pray for them to have self-confidence in their abilities as musicians, so that when they play their music it will be an expression of who they are as people rather than an attempt by them to be someone or something else.
I pray for them to feel loved by you, by me, by others who listen to their music—and not just when they’re on stage playing at Carnegie Hall or Madison Square Garden (though I hope those things happen too). I want them to feel loved every day of their lives—even when they’re practicing alone in the basement with no audience except a few cats who are just trying to sleep through the racket!
God, please help these musicians find peace within themselves so that when they play their music it will truly touch those around them—and so
Dear Lord,
I pray for the musicians of the world. I ask that you bless their efforts, and that you give them the strength to carry on with their work.
May they find joy in their craft, and may you bring comfort to those who hear their music. May you guide them so that their art will be a force for good in this world.
Amen
Dear God, we pray for the musicians of this world. May you bless them with the gift of music, and may you protect them from harm.
We pray that they will be able to make beautiful music in their hearts and minds, and that they will be able to share that music with others. We pray that they will be able to hear the music in their hearts without being distracted by other noises around them. We pray that they will have the opportunity to play their hearts out on stage or in a recording studio.
We also pray for those who are sensitive to sound: those who have hearing loss, tinnitus, or other conditions that make it difficult for them to enjoy music or even hear it well. We ask that these people find peace within themselves through your love and grace; may they not allow themselves to become overwhelmed by their circumstances but instead find strength in knowing others care about them and want them to succeed despite what might seem like impossible odds against such success.
Finally, we pray for those who perform as part of an ensemble: may they have patience with each other when things don’t go perfectly according to plan; may they be kind toward one another even when tensions run high; may they support each other
Lord,
we pray for the musicians of this world.
We pray for those who have been gifted with the ability to create music; we pray for those who have been blessed with the opportunity to perform it. We pray that You would guide them as they move through life, keeping them safe and sound, and providing strength whenever they need it. We pray that You would be with them in their work, and we ask that You would teach them how best to use their talents to bring others closer to You.
And Lord, we also pray for those who are called upon to listen. May You guide them as they seek out good music, so that they might find it and enjoy it—and may You give them the courage to speak out against bad music when they hear it. Lord, may all our listening be done in a way that draws us closer to You and brings greater glory to Your name.
We ask these things in Your son’s name: Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen
Dear Lord,
We come before you today to ask for your guidance as we pursue our dreams.
We know that you are a God who loves music and musicians, and we pray that you will bless us with the ability to create art that touches the hearts of others.
We pray that you will help us find our voice, so that we may share what we have been given through your grace. We pray that our music will be an instrument of peace in this world and that it will bring joy to all who hear it.
Please give us the strength to keep going when things get hard, and keep us from giving up when things get discouraging. Please give us wisdom in knowing when it is time to come back or take a break from creating music; when to edit out parts of songs or add new parts; when not to listen to criticism from others but instead focus on making something great ourselves; when not to try too hard but instead let ourselves be inspired by other artists without trying so hard to be like them…and so many other things!
Dear Lord,
I am a musician and I pray for the following:
1) That my music will be heard by everyone in the world.
2) That it will inspire people to change their lives for the better.
3) That I will have enough money to support myself and my family while still pursuing my dreams of making music.
4) That I may have the opportunity to travel and perform in other countries.
5) That when I am old and gray, I will die knowing that I made an impact on this world through my music.
Dear Lord,
We thank you for the opportunity to serve you with our music. We know that many of our songs are new, and we are still learning how to sing them. But we also know that your word is true, and that by singing your song, we are bringing glory to your name.
Even though some of us have been singing together for a long time, there are others who have only recently joined our group. We ask you to bless them as they learn their parts and grow into their roles in the band. We pray for them every day, but especially today as we prepare for our next concert.
We also ask that you bless our instruments: our guitars and drums, keyboards and synthesizers, violins and violas—and even those instruments that aren’t made of wood or metal, like the triangle and tambourine. These instruments have been passed down through generations of musicians before us; they’ve seen more than one band come together over time in order to make beautiful music together in worship of You. In this way they’re like us—they’re living things who need care in order to flourish! So please help us keep them in good repair so that they may continue making beautiful sounds.
Dear God,
I pray for my music ministry at church. I pray that you will help me to use the gifts you have given me to glorify your name and bring people closer to you. I ask that you would continue to guide me in my playlists, so that I may lead others in worship. I pray that you would grant me wisdom and discernment as we prepare for our next service, and help us to be prepared with the right songs on Sunday morning. Help us to make wise decisions as we choose musical selections for our choir. I also ask that you would bless my family and friends who are involved in this ministry with me, so they may continue growing in their faith.
In Jesus’ name, amen
Dear God,
Thank you for the gift of music. Music is a powerful tool for helping people connect with each other, and encouraging us to be more compassionate and loving.
As we pray for our music ministry, we ask that you help us:
-Connect with people in our community who are searching for meaning and connection through music. We want them to feel seen and understood by our songs.
-Find ways to use music as an outreach tool, so that we can reach new people who may not know about Jesus or even how to find him in their lives.
We know this is a big request, but we also know that your power is greater than anything we can imagine! Thank you in advance for answering these prayers. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen
Dear Lord,
I pray that you would bless our music ministry. Please help them to be able to serve you well and also to help others who are seeking your love and mercy. May they be good examples for others by showing love and kindness, even when it is hard. I pray that you will give us all a heart for others, so that we can serve those around us with a good attitude and with joy in our hearts. In Jesus’ name, amen
Dear Lord,
As you watch the music ministry at [church name] gather together to worship you, we pray that you would bless their efforts and give them strength to continue in this work. We pray that they would be filled with a sense of purpose and love for your people. We pray that they would feel your presence among them, and experience the joy of sharing their talents with one another.
We ask these things through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen
Dear Lord,
I pray that my music ministry will be a blessing to those who are hearing it and seeing it. I pray that they will be blessed by the lyrics and the notes and the rhythms. I pray that you will use me as an instrument of your love in this world, because you are worthy and so am I.
In Jesus’ name, amen
Dear Lord,
Thank you for the gift of music. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share this gift with others and use it to worship you. Please help me to always be humble and grateful for this gift, and please help me to use it in a way that brings glory to You. If there is anything in my life that is distracting me from using my gifts to their full potential, please show me what they are so that I may remove them. Help me today to be a good steward of this talent You have given me. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen
Dear Lord,
Thank you for the gift of music. It is a powerful tool that can bring hope and comfort to people in their time of need. Help us to use that power responsibly and wisely.
Help us to understand that we have been given a musical gift not for our own benefit, but for the benefit of those who need it most. Give us the strength and courage to share our music with them openly, with humility, and with grace.
Give us the wisdom to know what songs are appropriate for certain situations and when it is best not to sing at all. Teach us how to be sensitive listeners so that we may truly understand what others are going through and how their needs might be met through our singing.
Help us always remember that there is no greater reward than knowing that our singing has made someone else smile, or feel better about themselves, or find some measure of peace in their troubled lives. Give us eyes that see past our own limitations so that we may see others through your eyes—and help them see themselves as they really are: loved by God, equal before His throne.
We thank You for this gift of music; use it well!
