The Golden State has been rocked by a major earthquake, the Thomas Fire and a number of devastating mudslides. In times like these, it’s important to take a step back and find coping mechanisms to help you deal with tragedy (such as donating or volunteering in your area). When life throws us many challenges and shocking news on a regular basis, it can be hard to keep our composure; which is why taking the time to pray for California during this trying time is so important and necessary.
Prayer for California
Dear Lord,
We pray for California. We pray for the land of sun, the land of drought, and the land of water. We pray for the people who live there—their children and their elders, their immigrants and their natives. We pray that they may find peace, that they may find shelter, and that they may find hope in Your presence.
Please help us remember that You are with us always—in our days of plenty and in our days of scarcity. May all our days be filled with Your love, even as we remember those whose lives have been lost or altered by this most recent tragedy.

God, we pray for California.
We pray that you will bring healing and comfort to all who have been affected by the fires, especially those who have lost their lives.
We pray for the firefighters and first responders, that they may be kept safe during this difficult time.
We pray that the people of California will be able to rebuild their homes and cities so they can once again feel your love and grace.
Dear God, we call upon you this day to guide and protect the people of California. We know that our state is in danger, but we also know that you are a God of miracles and hope. We pray for rain, for the end of the fires, for the safety of our neighbors and loved ones, and for an end to this terrible natural disaster. We pray that you would provide strength and courage to all firefighters, police officers, and other first responders who are working tirelessly to contain these fires and save lives.
Please guide them as they go about their duties, so that they can act with wisdom and discretion in order to serve your will as they perform their difficult tasks. Please also help them to know when it is time for them to rest from exhaustion so that they do not become injured or ill themselves through overwork or fatigue.
