It’s difficult for those of us who live at home to fully understand how our loved ones feel, even when they are deployed for such a short time. To help you pray for them, here is a list of prayer points for deployed soldiers.
We pray to you, the One who rules over everything: Almighty God, Lord of Hosts. Keep an eye out for the servicemen and women of our country. Hold them up forever in your unending arms. Please keep our currently deployed service members safe. This article highlights a prayer for soldier safety and a short prayer for soldiers.
Prayer For Deployed Soldiers
Dear [soldier’s name],
We pray for you, our soldier. We pray that you will be safe and healthy, and that you will be able to return home to your family and friends as soon as possible. We also pray for those who have deployed with you, and for those who are waiting at home for your return.
We are so grateful for your service, and we know that it is a sacrifice made in the name of peace and freedom. Thank you for your sacrifice, and thank you for being willing to make it on our behalf.
In the name of Jesus Christ, who gave Himself up to save us all, we pray these things in His name:
Dear Lord,
We are asking you to be with our son [soldier’s name] who is currently deployed in the Middle East. Please help him stay safe and do his job well. We know that you will guide him, protect him and keep him strong. We pray for the other soldiers who are deployed with our son. May they also be kept safe and return home soon.
We pray for all the families of those who are deployed. We pray for those who have lost loved ones in battle and those whose loved ones are still serving overseas. May they find comfort in knowing that their loved ones died doing something noble, protecting our country from harm. Help them to know that their sacrifice was not in vain but for a greater good.
Short Prayer For Soldiers
We ask these things through Christ, our Lord who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God forever and ever.
Dear Lord,
I pray that you will watch over [soldier name] while he is away from us. Please keep him safe and healthy as he serves our country, and please give him the strength to stay strong in this time of trial. Please let him know that we are thinking of him and are praying for his safety.
In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
Dear Lord, we pray for the soldiers who are deployed far from home.
We ask that you help them to stay strong and focused so that they can keep their team safe and return home safely to their loved ones.
Please bless those who have gone before us, and keep them in your loving memory.
And please bless our families, friends and neighbors who have been left behind while we serve our country. Give them peace and comfort, especially during this holiday season when they are missing those they love so dearly. We ask this through Christ, our Lord. Amen
Dear Lord,
We thank you for this day and for the gift of life. We pray for our brothers and sisters who are serving our country overseas, that they will be safe and healthy. We ask that you keep them in your care, as well as their families back home. Help them to remain strong in mind and body so that they may do their duty with integrity and honor. Bless their leaders with wisdom and discernment so that they may make the best decisions possible when it comes to protecting the lives of those around them. We pray that each of these soldiers will return safely home to their families after their deployment ends, so that we can continue to enjoy their presence among us. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen
Prayer For A Soldier Safety
People who find safety in you, Almighty God, will always be joyful and give thanks to you.
Help keep these soldiers safe as they perform their duties.
Use your mighty sword to defend them from harm, and may they never know its sting.
May the strength of your love bring them back home safely, so that they and those they love may forever give thanks to you.
Thank you for hearing our fervent prayer offered in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Prayer For My Soldier Boyfriend
We should never take for granted the privilege of praying for our armed forces. John 15:13 says in the bible (KJV),
There is no greater love than to give one’s life for one’s friends.
Pride comes from being able to pray for those who are willing to give their lives to ensure the safety and well-being of people they love and people they have never met. Here are some prayers that can serve as models for your own prayers of support for our armed forces.
A Prayer for the Safety of the Troops
A prayer of protection is a vital prayer to say for our armed forces. Every day, our nation’s brave servicemen and women risk their lives to defend the liberties we enjoy in the United States. This can sometimes require them to travel to hostile foreign lands.
Heavenly Father, I thank you in advance for keeping this great nation’s armed forces safe. Lord, I pray that you surround them with a shield of safety because they have answered the call to defend their countrymen.
Put yourself between them and harm by being the shield they lean on during the day and the torch they follow at night. Please, Lord, let it not succeed, even if it forms the weapon. I appreciate your ability to shield me in advance. I give thanks for the divine covering you provide for all living things, from the top of their heads to the bottoms of their feet, and in every part of their being. The name of Jesus be praised.
Scriptures to use as prayer guides for the safety of soldiers: 2 Thessalonians 3:1-5; Psalm 34:7-9; Isaiah 54:17
Pray for the Lord to Strengthen Our Troops with Courage
Military personnel have extensive training to prepare them for a wide range of potential hazards they may face in the field or in combat, but this does not eliminate the possibility of anxiety. That’s why it’s crucial that, when you pray for the troops, you also ask God to fortify their wills and resolves.
God in the heavens I appreciate you being willing to support our troops in this way. We beg you, Father, to give them the fortitude to persevere because of the assurance that you are there. Put your right hand on them, Lord. Remind them, Lord, that You did not give them a spirit of fear but rather a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind.
Lord, teach them that you are the shepherd they can always count on. Foreseeing your future impact on our service members’ lives, I offer my highest praise. Amen. In the name of Jesus.
Scriptures that can help soldiers find strength to serve: 2 Timothy 1:7, Psalm 23:1–7, and Isaiah 41:10–12
Have a prayer vigil for their physical and spiritual well-being
Wounded soldiers occasionally return home. Injuries can be of the physical variety, but there are also emotional and psychological wounds. While the trauma of war and separation from loved ones is real, we serve a faithful God who is also the ultimate healer. This prayer asks God to restore the health of body and spirit to the soldiers who prayed it.
God the Father, you are the Lord, our healer, the Jehovah Rapha. Please, Lord, send your healing power to blanket our troops. Get in touch with their physical and mental selves to remove the threat of war from their lives. Keep your kindness in their minds.
Calm their nerves and put them in contact with people they can lean on as they try to make sense of what they’ve seen. As they re-enter society, give them hearts that trust in you and look for you. For the miraculous healing that you offer, we offer our thanks in advance. We ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen.
Psalm 30:2, Jeremiah 30:17, and Philippians 4:19 are some helpful healing scriptures.
Military Families Need Our Prayers, Too
Praying for the loved ones our service members must leave behind is an often overlooked way to support those who defend us. Being the daughter of a veteran and a veteran myself, I have firsthand experience with the stress that military families face on a regular basis. Praying for the troops should also include thinking of and supporting the families of those serving.
Lord God, I ask that you provide solace to the loved ones of the brave men and women serving in the armed forces around the world. Help the parents who are suffering from separation anxiety. Protect the home front leaders, both wives and husbands, in the name of the Lord.
Keep their faith, and put a godly group of people in their lives who can help them out financially when times get tough. Help them keep the peace as they care for their family until they can be reunited. In addition, we ask, Father, that you bless the children of soldiers serving abroad and in military training with wisdom beyond their years.
We have faith that, as a God of renewal, you will restore the time lost due to deployment. As Jesus Christ has commanded, Amen.
Scriptures such as John 16:22, Philippians 4:6-7, and Matthew 11:28 serve as guides for military families.
