Prayer For Dancers

I am a dancer. I have been dancing since the age of four, and it has always been a major part of my life. I have always been surrounded by dancers and their families, so I know all about the struggles that come with being a dancer, from injuries to stress, from lack of sleep to low self-esteem.

We know that you have a special place in your heart for dancers. We thank you for the grace and strength they carry with them on their feet and for the passion and creativity that is so often found in those who dance. We ask that you be with them as they learn their craft and as they share their gifts with us. We ask this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

I know how hard it can be sometimes to stay positive when you’re in pain, struggling with an injury, or just feeling like no one understands what your life is like as a dancer. And I also know that it’s important to remember that there are people out there who care about you, who are rooting for you, who want nothing more than for you to succeed.

That’s why I created this blog—so that you could have access to prayers written specifically for dancers! You’ll find them here!

As dancers, there are so many things we need to worry about on a daily basis. Ballet injuries can be common, and dance injuries come with dance. Ballet injuries can become serious if they are not taken care of as soon as possible. We will list out some prayers for ballet dancers and hope that you’d find them useful.

Opening Prayer for Dance Program

Please, God

I am anxious and full of expectation as I stand here in front of You right now. Knowing that You are my source of courage and serenity, I give You these feelings. As I get ready for my dancing performance, Lord, I ask for Your wisdom and presence. Give me clarity and self-assurance so that I may fully express myself and show off my abilities.

Please give me the capacity to concentrate, control my breathing, and sense the beat of the music pulsing through my body. Please help me to trust in the hours of practice I have devoted to my trade and to let go of any self-doubt or worry. Remind me that You are with me and guiding me at every turn, so I’m not alone on this stage.

May this performance, with Your blessings, be an homage to the gift You have given me. I dance as a thank-you and joyful offering. I am grateful for the chance to spread my enthusiasm to others.

I ask in Your holy name. Indeed.

Almighty God, I yearn to be near you with every step I take. I pray for the ability to jump with your delight, stretch with your ardor, and balance with your strength. As a testimonies, a prayer, and a praise, I offer you my dance. May my dancing always lead to you and tell of you, my love. Indeed.

Prayer For Dancers

Lead me in the dance of life, O God. Turn my heart towards you as I follow your lead into places of wonder and grace. Attune my ear to the music that hums beneath the surface of my thoughts and activities. Give me a little spirit that moves with the lows of love and grace.

Dear Lord,

we come to you today to ask for your guidance and protection for all dancers. Please help them to keep their bodies healthy, their bodies strong, and their minds focused on the art of dance. Help them to stay safe from injury and illness. Help them to stay focused on what matters most: being able to move freely through space with grace and ease. We know that you have given each dancer a special gift; please help them to use it well as they perform for us each night.

Amen

Dear Lord,

I pray for all of the dancers who are practicing their craft in this moment, whether it be on a stage or in their living room. May they find peace and joy in the movement of their bodies, and may they use that movement to create beauty and wonder. Give them strength and stamina, and may they never forget the importance of having fun while dancing! Help them to always remember that dance is an important part of life, but it should never be used as a means to an end.

Dear God,

We thank you for the gift of dance. Help us to use this gift wisely and with grace, so that we may bring joy to your children everywhere. We ask this in the name of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Dear Lord, thank you for the gift of dance.

Thank you for the ability to move my body in a way that inspires others to do the same.

I pray that I will use this gift to honor you and your holy name.

I pray that when I am on stage, I will be able to give honor to those who have come before me and paved the way for my success.

I pray that when I am off stage, I will be able to give honor to those who are struggling with their own journey, whether it’s in dance or not. And that I can help them along their way.

This is what I ask of you today: may your presence be with me as I dance and move through life just as it has been since time began.

May you have the strength and endurance to keep up the pace. May you never lose sight of your goal, no matter how hard it gets. May your passion for what you do be greater than anything else in your life. May you never give up on yourself or on your dreams.

May your feet be as swift as a gazelle’s and may they carry you where they need to go, so that you may dance like an angel through the ages.

Dance Prayer Quotes Before A Stage Performance

You turned my wailing into dancing; you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent. Lord my God, I will praise you forever.Ps. 30:11-12

David danced before the LORD with all his might.2 Sam 6:14

Let them praise his name with dancing and make music to him with timbrel and harp. Psalm 149:3

Dear LordJesus, David wasn’t just a man after God’s own heart; he was also a king who, apparently, loved to get on the dance floor. His victory over Goliath was the inspiration for singing and dancing by many in Israel (1 Sam. 21:11). When the ark was returned to Jerusalem, he danced before the Lord with all his might, and very little modesty (2 Sam. 6:14). It’s obvious he wrote this psalm (Psalm 30) as a dancer for other dancers—as a vehicle for God’s people to express their uncontainable joy when the temple was dedicated.

But, actually, King Jesus, you are the real Lord of the Dance. Though David didn’t realize it, his work and joy simply prefigured yours. Only you can turn the wails of our sin and brokenness into the dance of hope and joy. By your cross, you’ve removed the filthy garments of our unrighteousness that we might be clothed us with the white robe of your perfect righteousness (2 Cor. 5:17-21). Astounding, astonishing, and so very true.

As we ponder the riches of grace and love we have in you, how can we not sing and make music to you in our hearts? How can we possibly remain silent and still, in response to who you are and everything you’ve done for us?

By the Holy Spirit, enable us to hear the Father speaking to us right now in the gospel: “Son (and daughter), you are always with me, and all that is mine is yours” (Luke 15:31). Forgive us when we, like the elder brother, remain smugly on the outside—off the dance floor of God’s grace and joy (Luke 15:25). Help us to realize that you still pray that we, your disciples, might know the fullness of your joy (John 17:13).

One day, King Jesus, we will give thanks to you with all our might. All personal inhibitions, cultural prohibitions, and sinful limitations will be gone. We will be free at last! May that coming Day of unfettered, irrepressible joy greatly shape how we live this very day. So very Amen we pray, in your grace-full and gladsome name.

Closing Prayer For Dance Practice

Dear God,

Thank you for the gift of dance. Thank you for the gift of movement, and thank you for the ability to express myself through movement.

I know that sometimes it’s hard, and I am grateful for all my blessings.

Please help me to find balance in my life, and help me to stay true to what I believe in.

Thank you for this opportunity to be here today.

Dear God,

I pray for the dancers who are struggling to keep going. I pray for those who have been injured and have a long road to recovery ahead of them, and for those who have lost loved ones in the world of dance.

I pray that you will give them strength and support as they walk this journey of healing, so that they can come back even stronger than before.

And I pray that you will be with the families of those who have passed away, giving them comfort in their loss and hope that they will see their loved ones again someday.
