Grieving prayer for family

Grief is an emotional and physical response to loss. In the Christian community, grief is often associated with death but it can be caused by any major life event that causes sadness and change. When we lose a loved one or experience a traumatic event, our emotions typically go through five stages:

Some time ago, I saw a quote that said, “grief is a journey we never wanted to take but eventually help us to the other side of sorrow”.

Some time ago, I saw a quote that said, “grief is a journey we never wanted to take but eventually help us to the other side of sorrow”.

This phrase has stayed with me ever since I first read it and I have found myself repeating it over and over in my mind as others around me experience grief. It is true: grief does seem like a journey we never wanted to take but in the end does bring us closer than we were before.

Grieving for someone is not easy but take comfort in God who promises to never leave you nor forsake you.

  • Grieving for someone is not easy, but take comfort in God who promises to never leave you nor forsake you.
  • Prayers for the bereaved are an important part of the grieving process.
  • A prayer for those who have lost a loved one can help them find strength and peace during this difficult time.

As you go through this immense pain, may the Lord help you see his love and protection even in your darkest times.

Please know that God is with you in your pain, sorrow, grief, and all of life’s sorrows and griefs. He will carry you through each day with his love and faithfulness. And though it may not seem like it now, this great trial will one day bring you amazing benefits!

May he help you heal from the loss and give you peace in your heart as you rest in His comfort.

May he help you heal from the loss and give you peace in your heart as you rest in His comfort. May His grace comfort your family, friends and loved ones to help them on their journey. Help them know that He is there with them whenever they feel alone or need some encouragement.

Blessings,

If there be any comfort in Christ, if any consolation of love, if any fellowship of the Holy Spirit, if any affections and compassions, make my full filled with these very things.

The Lord is the God of all, and He is always with you. The Bible says in Psalms 91:1, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” You can trust Him to help you through this time. He promises to never leave you nor forsake you. God’s love and protection are even in your darkest times and will comfort your heart when it feels empty and cold.

prayer for bereaved family pdf

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. The Lord redeems the lives of the needy and lifts up the downtrodden. Psalm 34:18-19

He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.

“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3

We believe this means that God can heal your heartache, your sorrow, and even your physical pain. We also believe it means that he will help you find peace in the midst of life’s difficulties and hard times—but only if you trust him to do so!

The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.

  • The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.
  • The Lord supports me; he will uphold me forever. He will deliver me from evil attacks, from the deceitful words of my enemies.
  • You are a shield around me, O Lord; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head. To the end you will guide me; to finish your work, you will sustain me.

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Forgiveness is a gift you give to yourself, allowing you to move on with your life. Forgiveness is not about condoning what was done—it’s about letting go of the pain caused by the offense or hurt. In this way, forgiveness can also be seen as returning good for evil. When we forgive someone for doing something bad against us, it frees up our energy so that we can focus on things other than holding onto anger and resentment toward them.

As Christians, we have an additional reason to be kind and compassionate toward one another by forgiving each other just as Christ has forgiven us through his unconditional love (Ephesians 4:32). This is because God wants us all to live together peacefully with “no more grumbling” (Colossians 3:16).

Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

In the midst of this difficult time, we should approach God’s throne of grace with confidence. We should receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. In fact, it is a time of need when we are grieving. We should ask God for help as we seek to deal with all that has happened.

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

In the same way, you must obey the government under which you live and serve as good citizens. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished. For the authorities are not a terror to good conduct but to bad. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. For he is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing! He is God’s servant entrusted with the power to use it on behalf of justice.

Do what is right because it is right, and because others will see your good example as an encouragement to live well themselves.

In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world

What a beautiful thing it is to know that Jesus is your savior, and that he will always be with you. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world (John 16:33). Jesus said these words to his disciples as he prepared them for his crucifixion. It was then that he knew that they would have trouble without him after he had left them. Let us take comfort in knowing that although we may go through hard times when our loved ones die, we can also rejoice because of God’s great love for us!

short prayer for grieving family

Dear Lord,

I pray that those who mourn, who are hurting and feeling lost and alone after their loss, will be comforted by your love which is always with them. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

Heavenly Father,

Heavenly Father,

You are a loving God who is always there for us. You can help us through our grief and comfort us in times of sorrow. We know that you love us, no matter what happens in life. Even though we may feel like we’re alone and lost at times, we know that you are always with us—you never leave us or forsake us. Even when things seem to be going wrong in life and it feels like there’s nothing left for us anymore, we can still look up to him for guidance and strength because he gives both freely without any conditions attached whatsoever! With this knowledge filling our hearts with peace as well as hope for tomorrow (or next week if needed), we rest easy knowing that everything will turn out okay eventually; whether it takes five minutes or twenty years won’t matter so long as God remains close by every step along way during journey itself.”

Dear Lord,

Dear Lord,

I pray that you would comfort the family of this person. May they be strengthened in their sorrow and healed by your grace. Let them find peace in the knowledge that they did everything possible to help their loved one, but ultimately could not control the outcome or save him/her from death’s embrace on earth. Help them accept this reality with grace and courage, knowing that it is only temporary—that they will see each other again someday in heaven where there is no pain or suffering, only love and joy. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen

Lord Jesus,

Dear Lord Jesus,

We come to you today in a time of great grief. Our hearts are broken by the loss of our loved one, and we feel as if we are drowning in sorrow and sadness. We know that no other person can comfort us like you can. No other person can bring peace to our hearts like you can. No one else can give us hope for a brighter future than you do. And no one else has the power to heal our broken hearts as you do.

You see us when we weep; You know how heavy our burdens are; You understand how much it hurts when someone dies; You have felt every ounce of pain in this world—even more so than I could ever imagine!

Lord Jesus, please come into my life today through this prayer and bring me closer to you than ever before so that my faith will be strengthened even though I am suffering from such great loss.

I pray this prayer through Christ who lives and loves me, even though he knows everything about me including all my faults.

Amen.

May the hope of our faith in you help to comfort all who mourn. Help us to trust in your promises and to remember that this life is not all there is. You have prepared a heavenly home for us, where there are no goodbyes and where we will live eternally with you and all our loved ones who have gone before us. I pray that those who mourn, who are hurting and feeling lost and alone after their loss, will be comforted by your love which is always with them. In Jesus’ Name I pray, Amen.

Dear God,
