The term “object lesson” is a noun phrase that describes an object that illustrates or furthers the author’s point. In some Christian circles, these objects are used to teach lessons about salvation, repentance, and/or God’s omniscience. This list is by no means comprehensive, but I’ve done my best to provide you with object lesson sermons for each Sunday in 2019. This page provides a list of sermons based on an object lesson. Many Christian church services will include a sermon that tells the story of God’s love for us, using objects as examples.
Use these object lessons as ideas for sermons you can give at church or for groups seeking spiritual guidance. Object lesson messages are a great way to teach spiritual or moral principles by using things you find in your everyday life. They don’t require much preparation but can teach important lessons to children and adults. This article is meant to help you create your own object lesson message.
As an adult, it can be difficult to find regular teaching that covers a variety of subjects and interests. That’s where object lesson sermons for adults come in! These sermons make it easy for you to learn about new topics as well as use the object lessons provided for your own personal growth.
Right here on Churchgists, you can rest assured that you will obtain valuable information on candy bar object lesson, short bible lessons for adults, object lessons for youth groups, and much more. Object Lesson Sermons For Adults
Object Lesson Sermons are a great way to teach your congregation Biblical truths in a simple, clear and fun way.
Object Lesson Sermons are a great way to teach your congregation Biblical truths in a simple, clear and fun way. Many times people don’t listen as well to preachers that just talk about Biblical principles, but when you use object lessons, the congregation will be curious and lean in to hear what you have to say. Object lessons are also great if you enjoy teaching children because they are so visual and children love them.
I like using the object lessons from this site in my sermons because it gives me a quick idea of how I can turn one subject into three different messages by using three different objects. This saves me time preparing my sermons and also comes across fresh to my listeners every single time I preach.
May God bless you as you use these object lessons to preach the Gospel!
May God bless you as you use these object lessons to preach the Gospel!
- God’s blessing is not just good luck, but it is a gift from God. (Ephesians 1:3)
- The blessing of God is a sign of His favor. (Psalm 5:12)
- The blessing of God is not perfect, but it is given to us by a perfect God. (Deuteronomy 28:2)
- God’s blessing is not only physical, but also spiritual. (John 3:16-17)
Denominations
By and large, denominations are a matter of personal preference. Some people prefer the mild sweetness of vanilla; others enjoy the spiciness of cinnamon. Still others get a kick from chili powder. And some people simply don’t want to settle for any flavor at all: no matter your preference, it’s OK to feel passionately about it.
But that doesn’t mean denominations can’t be fought over, especially when you’re talking about them in worship services or sacrament meetings. A congregation should never devolve into an argument over their favorite flavor of ice cream—that’s not just going to make everyone less happy, it’s also likely to create rifts in the whole congregation.
How Soft Drink Bottles Can Save Your Church
The soft drink bottle is a perfect object lesson to illustrate that point. Soft drinks are one of most popular beverages in the world. They have been around for almost 200 years. All soft drink bottles have the same shape and size; every one holds 20 fluid ounces.
Yet, you don’t see many soft drink bottles in grocery stores or on convenience store shelves these days, thanks to the development of plastic containers that hold about twice as much content with no increase in packaging size or weight. Why? It’s all about growth! The soft drink industry realized that if they could expand their products from 20 ounces to 40 without increasing their packaging size or weight, they would grow their market share by 50%. Then, if you think about it, the cost of the product that consumers pay at the retail level is primarily determined by two factors: 1) how much it costs to make each unit and 2) how much can be sold of each unit at a profit. Thus, growth directly impacts profitability. Therefore, as any business grows, its revenues and profits increase exponentially!
This same principle applies when it comes to growing churches: more growth means more impact!
What’s in the Milk Jug?
One way to understand this is by using the object of a milk jug. What’s in the milk jug? Take out a quart of milk and show it to your congregation.
Ask them if they know what is in the milk jug.
Give them time to think about it and then tell them that there is milk inside of the milk jug but not just any milk, it’s 2% homogenized organic grade A vitamin D whole white milk.
Why? Because when you drink this kind of milk, you get good for your body. Milk has calcium, protein and more stuff which helps us grow strong bones and muscles.
A Nail Clipper and an Eraser Sermon Illustration on Sin and Salvation
“And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” (1 John 5:11-12)
When you think about it, there isn’t much that we can cleanse ourselves from. If I spill something onto my carpet, I can try to scrub it out with a soapy cloth as best as I can, but chances are some stain will remain. If someone spills a cup of coffee on my shirt at lunch and doesn’t offer to pay for dry cleaning costs, then I will just have to wear it around stained for a few more days until I get home to throw it in the wash (or toss it if the stain doesn’t come out). But even after washing it and pulling it out clean and folded, those stains might still be present. If they are no longer visible, that only means that something else has covered them rather than completely removing them.
So what is really able to remove or erase our sins? When we sin against God (which we do constantly), how can we be cleansed from it?
Use these sermons to teach others the truth of God
- Start with a clear message. God’s Word is eternal and unchanging, but the world around us constantly changes, so it’s important that we present biblical truth in a way people can understand and apply to their lives.
- Use illustrations to help teach the lesson. Illustrations are fun for everyone. Even adults like fun!
- Always put God first. After all, HE is why we are here!
- Make it fun! The Bible tells us that children should be like Jesus (Matt 18:2–5). And they sure had a lot of fun teaching people about God!! So don’t be afraid to be creative and have some fun yourself as you teach others about Him too!
- Use the right materials. It may take some time finding material that fits your needs and helps convey your lesson in an interesting way—but don’t worry if you don’t find what works best right away because there will always be another opportunity tomorrow when looking back at yesterday’s lessons learned today or even last week when looking back on today’s lessons learned this past Sunday…or even next month after looking back at this past Sunday’s lessons learned over those few weeks ago; so please don’t give up before trying something new again soon after just because it didn’t seem so great at first — remember what matters most is not how well things go today but rather how much we learn from yesterday’s mistakes because tomorrow might bring better things if only we trust Him enough today!”
Fun Bible Lessons For Adults
If you are new to reading the Bible, start with the life of Jesus from the book of Mark in the New Testament. Start at the beginning of Mark and read as much as you want to read each day. If you are a new Christian, we recommend that you start with the book “A Fresh Start,” the ideal place for new-to-the-Bible Christians to begin learning about the spiritual riches and abundant life that God has prepared for us.
Then, read the books of Matthew, Luke and John. Christianity is Christ. It’s about a relationship with him. Therefore, get to know Jesus well through reading His life and teachings. Continue reading through the New Testament from Acts through Revelation. After reading the New Testament, you can start reading the Old Testament.
Can anyone do Bible Study?
Yes! Anyone can study the Bible Study for themselves. The Bible is God’s Word for every one of us. Just start reading through the New Testament. The Holy Spirit will help you understand what you are reading. That is what God desires for you so He makes sure you are enabled to do it. So, you can ask the Lord to teach you through what you are reading.

Faith-based Object Lessons
An object lesson can make the difficult concept of faith more understandable for kids as well as adults. Here are a couple I have used personally along with a great true story that is fun to tell!
What is faith? The Bible says –
“Now faith is the reality of what is hoped for, the proof of what is not seen.”
“And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.”
Hebrews 11:1,6
Topic: Faith
Title: Faith is Not Blind
Object: Blindfold
Focal Scripture: Hebrews 11:1,6
Key Take Away: Faith believes God & acts on it. The result is fully trusting & obeying God.
Faith Object lesson – Faith is Not Blind
I developed this object lesson when I was teaching a group of third-sixth graders about the shield of faith in the Armor of God Series a few years ago. It’s a great way to demonstrate that faith is action based on our trust in God.
Ask for a volunteer of someone who says they trust you.
Blindfold them, spin them around a few times, and then tell them to trust you by doing what you tell them to do. Give them simple instructions to walk around the room without running into anything.
Without them knowing, place a chair in the center of the room. Give them instructions to the chair so that they are standing in front of it in a position to sit, but don’t tell them the chair is there. Ask them to sit down without reaching or feeling, but just by trusting it is okay to sit because you told them to.
Explain that even though we may not be able to see God or how things are going to work out, we can trust Him because He can see all and knows all and only wants what is best for us!
Go on to explain that even though they were blindfolded, their faith or trust was not blind. It was based on what they knew about you; they knew and believed you to be trustworthy.
This object lesson shows that in the same way, faith in God is not blind faith, it is based on knowing Him. That begins with knowing about Him as we learn His Word, but it becomes more than belief when we act on that belief by trusting in Jesus as our Savior and Lord.
Continuing to spend time with the Lord in prayer and Bible study is so important. We know God better and better as we spend time with Him; it’s the same as when we spend time with anyone else and they prove themselves trustworthy.
Faith is not blind.
Faith Object Lesson #2 – Faith Fall
Another interactive object lesson I have used many times as a quick way to illustrate faith is more than just saying you believe is the Faith Fall.
Again, ask for a volunteer and have them stand about three feet in front of you with their back to you. Ask them if they trust you to catch them. Then have them put that belief into action by leaning back and falling towards you to be caught.
Again, this simple object lesson teaches that faith is more than just saying you believe, it is belief put into action. And that faith is placed in the One we trust—Jesus Christ.
CHarles Blondin Story
Charles Blondin was a tightrope walker who lived from 1824 to 1897. The story is told that he walked across a rope stretched across Niagara Falls carrying or pushing various objects, one of which was a wheelbarrow. At last, he asked if anyone would get in the wheelbarrow; talk about an act of faith! This is a great story-object lesson to tell, act out and teach about faith.
Strengthening our Faith
The more we trust God and see His faithfulness, the stronger our faith becomes. Satan always tries to shoot fiery darts of fire at us. We should always turn to God’s Word in those times to remind us of His Truth.
A Few Doubt Extinguishers:
Pass out the “Doubt Extinguishers” matching sheet and have students work in teams to look up Scriptures and match them to the correct doubt or pin them to a board and let them choose the correct match. Review & discuss.
• “Is God really with me?” –
Hebrews 13:5 – “Your life should be free from the love of money. Be satisfied with what you have, for He Himself has said, I will never leave you or forsake you.”
James 4:8 – “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”
Psalm 145:18-19 “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them.”( * could also match to prayer question.)
• “Does God really have a plan for my life?” –
Jeremiah 29:11-13 – “‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.’”
Psalm 139:16 – “Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in Your book and planned before a single one of them began.”
• “Does God really hear me when I pray?” –
Proverbs 15:29 “The Lord is far from the wicked, but he hears the prayer of the righteous.”
2 Chronicles 7:14-15 – “if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.”
• “Will God really forgive me?”
1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
Acts 3:19 –“Therefore repent and turn back, so that your sins may be wiped out, that seasons of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord”
• “Does God really love me?
Romans 5:8 – “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 8:37-39 – “No, in all these things we are more than victorious through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that not even death or life, angels or rulers, things present or things to come, hostile powers, height or depth, or any other created thing will have the power to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord!”
Faith Take Away: The better we know God, the more we trust Him & the less we doubt.
