RCCG Ordained Ministers Handbook

After extensive research, the Church has outlined specific criteria for ordination in the Redeemed Christian Church of God. These criteria are designed to help aspirants to the ministry be effective and successful. Ordination requirements for the Redeemed Christian Church of God is a task that is delegated to the General Evangelist – Stake Chairman (Guidelines for Ordination). Before you apply, you must consider if you meet the below criteria:

I tried looking up on a number of websites the criteria for ordination in the Redeemed Christian Church of God and most of them are not as clear as I would want them to be. So, in this short article, I will break down the criteria step by step, Ordination.

The criteria for ordination in the Redeemed Christian Church of God are as follows:

  1. Must be a member of RCCG for at least one year (this requirement may be waived in certain circumstances)
  2. Must be between the ages of 18 and 50
  3. Must not have any physical disability or mental deficiency that would prevent them from functioning properly as a minister of Christ
  4. Must not have been convicted of any crime involving moral turpitude
  5. Must not have been excommunicated from another church or denomination

To become a Minister in RCCG , you only need to be believer and Christ lover.

There are some basic steps you have to take, which are very important. A child of the devil cannot work for God; hence, in the Bible verse, any kingdom that rises against itself shall not stand.

Primary Stage

In the first place, you must give your life to Christ. Veryly, I say unto you, except a man be born again, he can not see the kingdom of God.

Secondly, you must attend believers class; this will take about 6 months, depending on the class teacher.

Moreover, workers in training is the next step where you will be taken through all the departments in the church to know the one that will best suit your calling.

Ordination

This comes in three categories. Deacons and deaconess, Assistant Pastor and full pastor. One beautiful and most humble thing I have seen in RCCG that the general overseer is also a full pastor, as are others, but it’s just that some pastors tend to make people respect them more than the G.O.

If you are qualified for the ordination, you will have to print the form, fill it and submit it to your church administrator, who will in turn get the signature of the area pastor and zonal pastor before sending it to the province.

The national headquarters will take a good look at it, be sure you qualify for the position you qualify for and then enlist your name. Graduation takes place at the camp in August with Daddy G.O

I would have advised you that you should pray very well before you start the work of God as a Pulpit Minister. Do you know you want to decongest the kingdom of the devil? The devil will not take you with a soft hand.

What has God given to you that will make him not forget you? Remember, he told our father Abraham that my covenant will not be forgotten? What about you? Till today, God still holds his covenant with the children of Israel.

The RCCG was founded in 1952 by Rev. Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi (1909–1988) following his involvement in other churches. Rev. Akindayomi chose Enoch Adejare Adeboye as the next General overseer. Enoch Adeboye was a lecturer in mathematics at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, when he joined the church in 1973. Adeboye initially became one of the interpreters translating Akindayomi’s sermons from Yoruba to English. He was ordained a pastor of the church in 1975, and his appointment as the leader (general overseer) of the church was formalized by the posthumous reading of Akindayomi’s sealed pronouncement. In 1990, the Redeemed Christian Church of God Bible School was founded.

In 1981, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye became the General Overseer of the Church. In 1983, the land for the Redemption Camp in Mowe was purchased. In 1988, a students’ body known as the Redeemed Christian Fellowship (RCF) was established. It is the youth wing of the church concentrated within tertiary institutions of learning in the country. In 1990, Christ the Redeemer’s Friends Universal (CRFU) was established to garner financial and human resources from the very wealthy in society. In 2005, Redeemer’s University was established.

Andrew Rice, writing in The New York Times, calls the RCCG “one of [Africa’s] most vigorously expansionary religious movements, a homegrown Pentecostal denomination that is crusading to become a global faith.” The church’s leaders preach that in the future, “In every household, there will be at least one member of Redeemed Christian Church of God in the whole world.”

In 2008, it had 14,000 churches and 5 million members in Nigeria, in 80 countries.

The international church is structured in different areas throughout the world. The local churches are now grouped into regions, with 25 Regions in Nigeria. It is also organised throughout most of the world. Notable special spiritual programs are the Holy Ghost Service which holds on the first Friday of every month in Nigeria. Then, the annual Holy Ghost Convention (August) and the Holy Ghost Congress (December) in Nigeria and beyond with diverse schedules.

In 2020, the Lagos Church had 50,000 people.

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) is a Christian denomination in Nigeria that adheres to Pentecostalism and Charismatic movements. The church has more than 50 million members worldwide, making it one of the largest Christian denominations in the world.
