The Bible is a collection of books that are considered to be the inspired word of God. Many people come to the Bible for guidance and inspiration, but others wonder how it’s organized and what books are included in the Bible.

You may have heard about the Old Testament and New Testament, but not know much else. This article will help you understand what the different books are in the Bible.

The Old Testament contains 39 books that tell of God’s story with his people, beginning with Creation and ending with Malachi (a prophet who lived around 400 B.C.). These books were written by many different authors over hundreds of years, as recorded in the book of Hebrews: “All Scripture is breathed out by God” (2 Timothy 3:16). The New Testament covers just 27 books that were written after Jesus Christ died on the cross and rose again from the dead. It tells us about Jesus’ life on earth and how he fulfilled prophecies foretold by prophets centuries before him.[1]
