Prayers To Bind Every Evil Spirit In Your Life

There are so many things that we pray for and we wait for God to respond when, in fact, God has already told us what to do.  He has already given us the strategies that we need in order to succeed.  God is not going to come to earth and do the things that He has already given the church the authority or ability to do. That is what binding and losing are all about.  Using the spiritual authority we already have, to carry out the work of the Kingdom.

This post will be about binding and losing.  We hope to shed light on What does binding do to demons, Binding is a powerful witnessing tool for this subject in a way that you may not have thought about it before.

Prayers To Bind Every Evil Spirit In Your Life

Why is this important?  Well, in order for us to properly understand the scripture that we will share about binding and losing, it is important to understand that a semicolon is used to continue the same sentence.  When we understand this, it is much easier to get the significance of this scripture.

Matthew 16:19 “I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

There are so many people that are still walking around searching for the “keys of the kingdom of heaven” when God already gave it to us in this scripture.  It is following the semi-colon, “whatever YOU bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever YOU loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”

Yes, it is so subtle but so true.  The authority has been given to the believer in Christ Jesus to bind and loose. This is the key.

You bind and You Loose.  You have this power so God has already given you the ability to take action and all you have to do is use it.

So, what does binding mean?  The Greek word is deo (Stong’s concordance G1210)

So when you bind something, you are forbidding it, prohibiting it from happening and putting it in chains.

How do we define loosing?  The Greek is Lyo (Strongs 3089)

So, loosing is the opposite action.  You are untying something loosening it.  You are setting it free.

Now we will show you how to use this in prayer.

Imagine that you see something happening around you and you know it’s not right, it’s not godly, it’s demonic, it’s an injustice, it is a complete violation of the word of God (this is not your opinion or your feelings).  Once you identify that this is not the will of God you have the authority to bind it up and to loose the Kingdom and all of it’s righteousness in place of that!
So your prayer would sound like this “I bind up pride in the name of Jesus and I loose humility”  So you would loose the opposite of what you are binding up.  You could even pray this over yourself in whatever area you see that you may need it.

“I bind up fear and I loose the perfected love of Christ”  this would be based on the scripture (1 John 4:18) “There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”

When you bind up something you think of the opposite to loose over the situation.

The prayer of binding and loosing is very effective if you use it as an offensive prayer.  Don’t wait until you get into a situation or things get tense before you do this.  If you know that you are about to face a confrontation or a bad situation you start binding and loosing before you even get to the scene.  This will ensure that things are in order before you show up and God has already sent his angels to take care of it before you arrive.

Prayer To Remove An Evil Person From Your Life

Here is a general binding and loosing prayer:

Jesus, according to Matthew 16:19 you said that you gave us the keys to the Kingdom and whatsoever I bind on earth is bound in heaven; therefore, I bind the enemy and every angel that was kicked out of heaven from interfering with Your blessings coming into my life. I bind every principality, every power, every might and dominion, every ruler of darkness and every spirit in high places from interfering in my life, my family, my health, my finances, my ministry, my business, my relationships with others and more importantly with you Lord. They will not be able to operate in any aspect of my life or have any influence over it, in Your Holy Name and according to your word Amen.

Lord Jesus,  You also said that whatsoever I loose  on earth will be loosed in heaven; therefore, I ask that you give the angels of heaven charge over me, according to Psalm 91.  I ask that you loose the angels to hearken the Word of God on my behalf. Loose Your blessings and favor over my life, my family, my health, my finances, my ministry, my business, my relationships in Your Holy Name, Amen

Now remember that you can make this prayer as specific as you need it to be for your situation.  If you are not sure of what you should loose for what you are binding up leave us a comment below and we’ll be happy to give you some suggestions.

**Please note, that this binding and loosing is not a permanent prayer.  What does that mean?  You may need to do this all again tomorrow.  The main reason is sin and it is the enemy’s job to get you in a sinful situation so that you lose the authority to stop him in his tracks.  You can read more about this here in a post on Spiritual Warfare.  Under the beginner and intermediate stages it explains why some prayers get undone because of sin.

Until then, God bless you and remember you have the power and authority to do this because it was given to you by Jesus himself.

    What happens when we bind?

Jesus said: “Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:18-19)

When we bind something, we declare it unlawful (or evil) based on God’s word. Because we stand as co-heirs in Jesus Christ, we have his authority to execute this judgment on the forces of evil. (Psalm 149:5-9).

Our faith in God’s word releases the power from heaven that binds (or ties up) the evil we are facing. Similarly, when we loose something on earth, we “permit and declare [it] proper and lawful on earth” based on the scriptures. Everything that we loose or bind must be in accordance with God’s word.

“And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 16:19)

“Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” (Matthew 18:18)

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)

Binding the enemy’s plans; loosing God’s plans

This is based on the Lord’s prayer in Matthew 6:10. First we bind the plans of evil in the situation we are facing in the name of Jesus Christ. Then, we call forth God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven.

“Father in heaven, I stand in faith on the authority I have as a believer in Jesus Christ, and a co-heir to his kingdom. In the name of Jesus Christ, I bind every evil spirit and every evil plan made in this situation. I cancel the enemy’s plans and call forth God’s plans for this situation. God’s word says that God has plans for good and not evil (Jeremiah 29:11) for us and I claim those plans now. Father, I ask that your will be done in this situation, as it is done in heaven. I give thanks and praise to you. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

    Simple binding prayer

“Father, I thank you for sending your Son Jesus to die for me, and resurrecting him to sit at your right hand in Heaven right now. I thank you for bestowing upon Him all power and authority over evil. In the name of Jesus Christ, I speak to any evil spirits, especially spirits of* ___________, ___________, ___________, (fill in the blanks), I bind you from attacking me now and throughout this day. Leave me now and go straight to Jesus Christ who will deal with you. I am covered and protected by the blood of Jesus Christ. Thank you Lord for delivering me. Amen.”

*Note that evil spirits often have specific functions and names. Examples of evil spirits include lust, adultery, pride, despair, strife, anger, unforgiveness, discouragement, condemnation, shame, hate, envy, covetousness, idolatry, homosexuality, suicide, obsession, oppression, domination, control and witchcraft. These are just a few of the many possible spirits. Or it will work to say something like “….any demons causing ___________”.

What Does Binding Do To Demons

Binding is like a temporary spiritual handcuffing. You can bind a demon spirit, much like tying something up with rope or chains. You cannot bind a person’s free will, but you can bind the demons affecting or influencing that person. Binding is not the same practice as casting out demons, as casting out demons brings forth lasting results, whereas binding is only to tie them down for a period of time.

If you are trying to talk to or minister to somebody, and they seem impossible to get through to it can be helpful to bind up the spirits inside that person, which will effectively handcuff the enemy so you can directly and effectively minister to that person without having them continually held back by the enemy’s interference.

What Does It Mean For Something To Be Bound In Heaven

If you look up the word ‘heaven’ in the Greek, you’ll find another word called ‘air’, which is where the spirits dwell. The Bible also says that we are seated with Christ in heavenly places. This isn’t referring to heaven as in the place we go after we die, but rather a realm. The Bible tells us that we are seated in the heavenly realm with Christ: “And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:6)

We, as humans, were below the angels and demons, but as believers, we are now seated above the angelic realm and seated with Christ. So the word ‘heaven’ here is referring to the spiritual realm, the air, where the spirits dwell and operate. In Ephesians 2:2, Satan is known as the ‘prince of the power of the air’.

Therefore, when you bind something here on earth, it will be bound in the spiritual realm as well. This gives us the ability to bind demons, because they dwell within the spiritual realm.

Binding Is A Powerful Witnessing Tool

What keeps a person from accepting Jesus? The god of this world, which is Satan (working through his army of demons) has blinded their minds from the light of the gospel. (2 Corinthians 4:4) Jesus taught us to bind the strong man, then we can plunder his house: “No man can enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil his house.” (Mark 3:27)

If you have been trying to witness to somebody, and seem to be getting nowhere, try binding the spirits of darkness that are preventing that person from seeing the light in the gospel. You cannot bind a person’s will or force them to accept the gospel, but you can do something about the demons which are holding the person back. Once you take the demons out of the picture, you will be able to talk directly to that person without demons whispering in their ears and trying to combat what you are telling them.
