The people were sacrificing at the high places, however, because no house had yet been built for the name of the Lord. Solomon loved the Lord, walking in the statutes of David his father, only he sacrificed and made offerings at the high places. And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place. Solomon used to offer a thousand burnt offerings on that altar. Spirit of Performance Bible

Even actors and actresses will have to give an account for every single word they say, regardless of whether it’s playing a villainous role or not. Words matter. What we say counts today and forever.

First Corinthians 10:31 “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

If we are playing in a role that is contrary to biblical doctrine or godly moral values, we are better off passing on these roles if we are a Christian actor or actress. We can cause many to stumble by proclaiming the name of Christ but then living and working in ways that are contrary to this belief.

Proverbs 16:3 “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.”

If you are a Christian actor or actress and you are not working as much as you need to or would like to, there are many movies and stages that still have a G-rated audience. There are other things you could do rather than cave into the pressure to play a less than godly role. You will be held accountable for what you say and what you portray.

Colossians 3:23-24 “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.”

As with any job, we are not really working for an employer but for God, therefore we ought to give it all we can or as Solomon once wisely wrote “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going” (Eccl 9:10).

First Corinthians 3:16 “Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?”

I have a difficult time hearing about some actors or actresses that claim to be born again and yet go on to be featured in movies that are laced with profanity and steeped in sexually explicit scenes. There is no excuse for this because we were made in the image of God (Gen 1:26-27) and we who are saved are God’s temple and what does darkness have to do with light? How can we claim to be in the light and yet work in ways that are complete opposites of biblical values and live and work in darkness?

Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.”

If you want to dwell on things that are good and godly, then dwell on those things that are true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, commendable and not on those things that are antithetical to God’s teachings. We have to live as examples for others because we might be the only Bible that someone will ever read.

Ephesians 4:1-2 “I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love.”

Paul was an actual prisoner but he always realized that he was first and foremost a prisoner of the Lord. The reasons he was in prison so often was that he was unafraid to speak about the need for repentance, forgiveness of sin, the need for the Savior, and things that are essential to the gospel and as a result, he was cast into prison time and again. Even with this calling, the great missionary and apostle to the Gentiles, he was humble, gentle, patient, bearing with one another and all of these done in love.
