Bible Verses About Making Fun Of Others

God hates the sin of pride, but He loves those who seek humility. Humility is a virtue that will get you far in life, especially when it comes to avoiding pride and mockery. When you make fun of others, you are actually mocking God because He cares deeply about people and their dignity. Don’t make fun of others just because they have different beliefs than yours or have made mistakes; it could be you next time!

The Bible is filled with verses that show God’s hatred of mocking, persecuting and ridiculing others. Many examples of courage on the part of those who were made fun of or persecuted can be found in both Old Testament and New Testament Scripture. Though all insults may not be as serious as being tortured to death by Romans for your faith in Jesus Christ, people can still take it personally when they are mocked and ridiculed.

Bible Verse About Making Fun Of God

Making fun of others is a serious issue. The Bible tells us that if we make fun of someone, then we are slandering them. Slandering someone goes against the Golden Rule and it goes against the very character of God himself (Luke 6:31). The Bible tells us to be kind to others and bear each other’s burdens (Galatians 6:2). When we laugh at others or try to bring them down, it shows our humanistic nature rather than reflecting God’s nature. We need to remember who the “others” really are in this situation; they are made in God’s image and Jesus died for them just as He did for us (Genesis 1:27; John 3:16).

1. Leviticus 19:15-18

  • “You shall do no injustice in judgment, in measures of length, weight or volume. You shall have just balances, just weights, a just ephah and a just hin: I am the LORD your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt.
  • “You shall do no injustice in judgment, in measures of length, weight or volume. You shall have just balances, just weights, a just ephah and a just hin: I am the LORD your God who brought you out from the land of Egypt…
  • “Do not hate your brother in your heart; rebuke your neighbor frankly so you will not share in his guilt…
  • “Do not take vengeance or bear a grudge against anyone among your people but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the Lord” (Leviticus 19:15-18a)

15 You shall do no injustice in court. You shall not be partial to the poor or defer to the great, but in righteousness shall you judge your neighbor. 16 You shall not go around as a slanderer among your people, and you shall not stand up against the life of your neighbor: I am the LORD. 17 You shall not hate your brother in your heart, but you shall reason frankly with your neighbor, lest you incur sin because of him. 18 You shall not take vengeance or bear a grudge against the sons of your own people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD.

2. Proverbs 29:9

“He who is quick to laughter will be interrupted.”

  • Proverbs 29:9

9 If a wise man has an argument with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet.

If a wise man has an argument with a fool, the fool only rages and laughs, and there is no quiet.

A foolish man finds no delight in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions.

When the scorner is punished, the simple becomes wiser; when the wise man received instruction, he gains knowledge.

The lips of fools bring them strife, and their mouths invite a beating.

3. Leviticus 19:32

Leviticus 19:32 You shall rise before the gray headed and honor the presence of an old man, and fear your God: I am the LORD.

In this verse, we see that it’s important to respect your elders and those who have wisdom. A good way to do this is by listening to them and learning from their experience rather than making fun of them.

32 You shall rise before the gray headed and honor the presence of an old man, and fear your God: I am the LORD.

“You shall rise before the gray headed,”

The Bible says, “and honor the presence of an old man, and fear your God: I am the LORD” (Leviticus 19:32). You should treat your elders with respect. While you may not agree with everything they say or do, it’s important to give them their due when they deserve it.

4. Luke 6:31

Luke 6:31 states, “Do to others as you would want them to do to you.” This principle is so simple and clear that it’s hard to imagine how anyone could miss it. If you don’t want somebody else mocking you for being short or ugly or stupid, then don’t mock others for those things either. The Golden Rule has nothing on this one!

It goes without saying that we should treat others well and be kind towards them—this is pretty much ingrained in human nature. But what about the people who seem like they’re out there just looking for a fight? Maybe they’re bullies or maybe just unkind people who can’t help but bring their low self-esteem out on others. Here are some Bible verses about making fun of others:

31 And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.

The golden rule is a simple idea: treat others the way you would like to be treated. It’s a good rule of thumb for how we should behave in life, and it’s also what Jesus said was the most important commandment. If you want to be someone who treats others well, then perhaps taking this verse to heart might help you do so.

If there’s one thing we can learn from our times on Earth, it’s that being kind makes everyone feel better! By spreading happiness around us as much as possible—and doing so by being kind—you will set off a chain reaction of goodwill among your friends and family that can only end up making your world brighter too!

What Does The Bible Say About Humiliating Others

We just learned in Luke 6:31 that we should treat others the way we want to be treated. We often hear this verse when someone does something wrong to us, but I don’t think this is the best way to interpret it. When we are tempted to make fun of others, let’s remember what Jesus said. He did not say “love your neighbor as yourself” so that they may love you back someday—he said “love your neighbor as yourself because he loves himself.” This may seem counterintuitive at first, but consider how many times have you made fun of someone who was hurting and felt bad about themselves later on? How many times have you laughed at another person’s expense when they were already down on their luck? Allowing people to feel bad about themselves or laughing at their misfortune isn’t loving them; it’s hurting them!

Bible Verses About Love Your Neighbor As Yourself (Scriptures)

“Love your neighbor as yourself” is one of the well-known quotes of the bible.

It encourages us to love one another as true worshipers of Christ.

But who is your neighbor?

Are they your friends, parents, siblings, or those staying near you?

The truth is, your neighbors are people you meet daily.

They include your friends, colleagues at work, church members, schoolmates, and even strangers.

Anyone that needs your help is your neighbor.

As Christians, we must render help and assistance to those in need.

And thankfully, there are many bible verses about loving your neighbor as yourself to inspire us.

These scriptures teach us to be kind-hearted to those around us.

To put it differently, we must help those in need and support them (whether they are related to us or not).

Just a few months ago, I was opportune to help one of my patients.

Immediately after surgery, she started bleeding profusely.

She bled so much that it was apparent she was never going to make it.

Her husband was utterly devastated and has lost control of himself.

And shockingly, there was no functional blood bank in the rural hospital

And then I thought to myself, “I must make a blood donation to save her life.”

Having recently just got married, I couldn’t bear the thoughts of losing my wife.

I couldn’t imagine death separating my lovely wife from my arms.

So, I put myself in his shoes and donated immediately to save his wife’s life.

I have never met the patient before, but that’s what love does.

You put yourself in other people’s shoes and help them without expecting a reward.

I have put together “love your neighbor bible verses” to inspire you today.
