Hello and welcome to the first lesson of Basic Bible Study for New Christians!
We’re going to start off with an introduction to the Bible. The Bible is a collection of books that tell us about God, his plan for salvation, and how he delivered on that plan through Jesus Christ. The word “bible” comes from the Greek word biblia, which means “books.” In this case, it refers to 66 books that are written by many different authors over a period of many years. These books were written in three languages: Hebrew (the Old Testament), Greek (the New Testament), and Aramaic (parts of the New Testament).
As we go through this series, we’ll be looking at each book individually, starting with Genesis and ending with Revelation. We’ll also be looking at some of the key themes from each book—such as creation, sin and redemption—and how those themes play out throughout Scripture.
