This 6-month bible reading plan includes the Old and New Testaments. If you want to read both, then this is perfect for you.
This plan will take you through the entire Bible in six months. You’ll start with Genesis and finish up Revelation, so it’s a great way to get an overview of the entire Bible in a short period of time.
If you’re looking for something more detailed, then check out our Old Testament Bible Reading Plan or New Testament Bible Reading Plan
6-Month Bible Reading Plan
Old Testament: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Chronicles, 2 Chronicles
New Testament: Matthew, Mark, Luke and John (in that order), Acts of the Apostles (see also Epistles), Romans through Jude (in that order), Revelation
The 6-month reading plan is designed to cover the whole Bible in a year. It will take you from Genesis to Revelation and help you understand the chronology of events as well as the message of each book.
The first third of the plan covers the Old Testament, beginning with Genesis and ending with 2 Chronicles. Genesis introduces us to God’s creation of the world and man’s fall into sin, while Exodus tells us how God rescued His people from slavery in Egypt and gave them His law on Mount Sinai. Leviticus describes God’s instructions for how His people should live according to His standards, while Numbers outlines their journey through the wilderness toward their new home. Deuteronomy concludes this section by summarizing God’s law and laying out its significance for future generations.
The second third of this plan covers both Testaments together. First comes Joshua through Esther; then Job through Song of Songs; followed by Isaiah through Malachi; and ending with Matthew through Revelation (which includes some New Testament letters). These books show us how God’s people lived out their faith in Him—sometimes well but often imperfectly—in an increasingly hostile world where many did not believe in Him at all.
I believe that God has called all of us to a life of prayer and study. The Bible is the most important book in the world and it is the foundation of our faith. The bible isn’t just a collection of stories, but it is God’s Word to us.
