Gift Of Holy Spirit In The Bible

Introduction

The Holy Spirit gives us the power of faith, which helps strengthen our beliefs and trust in God. It also allows us to share what we believe with others through stories or testimonies. And when a person accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, they receive gifts such as wisdom, knowledge, healing powers (physical), power over evil spirits, peace that surpasses all understanding (mental), hope for eternal life after death on earth (spiritual).

The seven gifts of the Holy Spirit are an enumeration of seven spiritual gifts first found in the book of Isaiah, and much commented upon by patristic authors. They are: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord.

What Are The Gifts Of The Spirit

The gift of the Holy Spirit is a gift from God to man. It is a supernatural power that enables believers to perform miracles, speak in tongues, prophesy, and even heal others. The Bible talks about this gift many times throughout its pages.

The list of all nine gifts that God gives His children when they receive the Holy Spirit are:

  • Wisdom
  • Understanding
  • Knowledge
  • Counselor (Advocate)
  • Mighty God (Jehovah Rapha)
  • Everlasting Father (Abba Abba)

To be able to receive these nine different gifts from God you have to first receive the Holy Spirit into your life through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior which will also give you eternal life with Him in heaven when you die or go home at death by acceptance/belief on His name alone!

The Gift of Prophecy – 1 Corinthians 12:10

The gift of prophecy is the ability to express God’s will through words. It is a supernatural manifestation of the Holy Spirit, but it’s not the same thing as preaching or teaching. The gift of prophecy gives you the ability to proclaim God’s Word, share His message with other people, and give direction based on what He wants you to say.

You can use your prophetic gifting in different ways:

  • To speak words that release miracles in someone’s life (anointing)
  • To bring comfort when someone needs encouragement

The Gift of Serving – 1 Peter 4:10

The Gift of Serving is the ability to serve others. This is a very important gift to have. It will help you to develop a servant’s heart and it can be used in many ways: serving your family, serving the church or serving others who are in need.

If you do not know how to serve others, then ask God for His guidance and He will show you what needs to be done. You may need some training or practice before you are able, but with God’s help, all things are possible!

The Gift of Teaching – Romans 12:7

Romans 12:7 says, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind.” This verse is very simple and straightforward. God wants us to look at ourselves through His eyes rather than our own. He wants us to see what He sees in us, which is someone who is valuable and loved by Him.

The word “conformed” means that we are being shaped into what we are meant to be. This can only happen if we allow the Holy Spirit to work on our hearts and minds. When we open ourselves up for Him, He will guide us into transformation by renewing our minds with His Word so that we can see ourselves as He does (Romans 12:2).

We were born with this gift; however most people do not realize its importance in their lives until they begin studying the Bible or attend church regularly where someone teaches them about God’s Word through preaching and teaching from it every Sunday morning during worship services.

The Gift of Exhortation – Romans 12:8

Paul says, “If you are slothful in duty, be diligent in study. Let all be done with love.” (1 Cor. 14:40). He exhorts the Corinthian church to do their duty, but he does not demand it of them; rather he encourages them to do so with diligence and love. This is a gift from God—the ability to speak words that will motivate others toward good deeds and Christian living.

In many cases we are too much at ease in our lives and don’t desire certain things because we don’t want to work hard for them or put in the necessary effort required to achieve those goals or dreams(2 Tim 2:4). We must realize that how much we accomplish today will determine how successful we are tomorrow!

The Gift of Giving – Acts 20:35

The gift of giving is a gift of the Holy Spirit. A Christian who has received this gift has been empowered by God to give in several ways:

  • He is able to give of himself, whether it’s his time or his possessions.
  • He is able to give of his possessions, whether those possessions are material or spiritual. It might be something as small as giving up some money for someone else’s benefit or as large as fasting and praying for an entire day on someone else’s behalf. The point here is that if you want something done right and with more than just your own heart at work, it’s going to take sacrifice on your part—and no one knows better how much sacrifice will be required than God Himself. The reason why we should give in the first place isn’t because we want something back but because we know the joy that comes from helping others out when they need us most (Acts 20:35).

The Gift of Leading – Romans 12:8

The gift of leading is the ability to lead and guide others. This gift helps you become a strong leader in whatever area you choose to pursue. You can use this gift to help others understand truth and navigate through life in a way that honors God. It also gives you the courage to speak up when necessary, even if it means standing alone on an unpopular opinion or idea.

This gift allows you to inspire others with words at times when they need encouragement or motivation; therefore, it makes people want stay loyal followers who will follow your leadership without question because they know it comes from a place of true love for them as individuals!

Administration/Leadership – 1 Corinthians 12:28

  • There are many gifts of the Holy Spirit.
  • Administration is one of them.
  • “And God has appointed in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers…” (1 Corinthians 12:28)
  • This gift can be exercised by anyone within a church or ministry. Although there are different roles in which this gift can be used, it is still a gift of the Holy Spirit and not limited to one particular role or office such as elder or deacon.

The Gifts of Mercy and Compassion – Matthew 5:7, Galatians 5:22-23, James 3:17, 1 Peter 4-8.

Mercy is the ability to feel compassion for others. In fact, it is a gift of the Holy Spirit and one of the fruits of his presence in us (James 3:17). When we have mercy on others, it is an expression of our relationship with Christ. We show love through forgiveness and compassion toward someone else’s sin or pain.

You can read more about this in Matthew 5:7, Galatians 5:22-23, James 3:17, 1 Peter 4-8.

Faith – Luke 17, Hebrews 11, 1 John 5.

Faith is the most important of the spiritual gifts. It is the foundation of the Christian life and is necessary for receiving all other gifts. Faith is not only a gift, but also an evidence of things not seen and provides evidence that God exists. Faith can be defined as “the substance of things hoped for” (Hebrews 11:1) or “the assurance of things unseen” (Hebrews 11:1).

Takeaway. We can only receive these gifts of the Holy Spirit through the will and power of God.

The takeaway is this: we can only receive these gifts of the Holy Spirit through the will and power of God. We must ask God for them, be willing to receive them and ask God to open our spiritual eyes and ears in order to see what He wants us to do with them. We must be willing to receive these gifts and use them as part of His work on earth, not ours.

In summary, receiving all or any of these gifts does not mean that you are spiritually mature. A person with no spiritual maturity at all can still possess one or more gifts from God’s Spirit! Receiving these gifts does not make you better than other Christians because it doesn’t automatically mean that you are spiritually mature either! Receiving any gift from God’s Spirit simply means that He has chosen not only yourself but also someone else as well (in some cases) in order for their lives together on earth should benefit everyone else around them; therefore giving glory back up into heaven where it belongs!

Conclusion

In conclusion, we can only receive these gifts of the Holy Spirit through the will and power of God. The purpose of a gift is to show love and appreciation to those around us and we should use our gifts in that way. By using them wisely we can do so much good for people who may be in need or struggling. Do not fear giving up something for someone else because it will always be returned tenfold!
