A prayer for my aunt who passed away, who I feel like I’ve known my whole life.
I hope you’re in a place where you feel safe and happy, where you can watch over us as we go through this time of loss. I hope that you’re watching over us and smiling at us, because you know that we are all strong and capable adults who will be okay.
I hope that you are looking down on me right now as I write this blog post and telling me everything is going to be okay. We will be okay without you here with us on earth, because we have each other and the love of family.
Dear God,
You know my Aunt Sally. You know how much she loved her family, and how much she loved you. You know that she was kind, caring, and patient. You know that she was a good person who cared about other people.
I want to ask you for one thing: I want you to take care of my Aunt Sally in heaven.
I know that it’s hard to go from life here on earth to the next world—the one where we will be with you forever. So please help her through this time of transition. Show her what it’s like up there so she can find her way quickly—and help her feel at home with all the other angels who are waiting for us when we get there!
Thank you so much for listening to me today, and thank you for everything else you do every day!

Poem for My Aunt Who Passed Away
In the depths of grief, we often seek solace in the beauty of words. Poetry has a way of expressing our deepest emotions, capturing the essence of our love and remembrance for those who have passed away. Let us honor our beloved aunt with a heartfelt poem, a tribute to her life and the everlasting impact she had on each of us.
Aunt, you were a shining star
In our lives, forever near and never far
Your unconditional love and grace
Guiding us through life’s every phase
You were a source of comfort, a pillar of strength
In your arms, we found solace at length
Your wisdom and guidance, a beacon of light
Through every storm, you kept us in sight
Though you are no longer with us in flesh
Your spirit remains, alive and fresh
In our memories, you will forever dwell
And in our hearts, your love will always swell
We bid farewell, with tears in our eyes
But know that in heaven, you’ll forever rise
Rest in peace, dear aunt, in eternal sleep
We cherish your love, our memories we’ll keep
Until we meet again, in heaven’s embrace
Your laughter and love, we long to trace
For now, we’ll carry your legacy with pride
In our hearts, you’ll forever reside.
Saying goodbye to aunt who passed away
I laud you before the omnipotent God and entrust you to your Creator, my dear [name].
Be at peace in the embrace of the Lord, who fashioned you from the very soil of the earth.
May the benevolence of the Blessed Mary, the angels, and all the saints greete you as you depart from this world.
May the crucified Christ, who bore your sins, bestow upon you liberty and serenity.
May Christ, who atoned for you, grant you entrance into his paradise garden.
May the genuine Shepherd, Christ, accept you into his flock.
May he absolve you of every transgression and redeem you among those whom he has selected.
May you eternally behold your Redeemer in person and delight in the vision of God.
Gratitude be given to my aunt, uncle, and cousin today, Lord. Today, their eldest progeny will be interred. Unexpectedly, she passed away, and on October 1, 2022, her parents laid to rest their daughter, who had battled brain, breast, and lung cancers. Protect and provide shelter for my family. My deepest regards and prayers are extended to them. Although I would love to be there, I recently began a new job and am unable to take time off. Send them an abundance of affection, Father. A Prayer For My Aunt Who Passed Away
Lord,
Dear Lord,
I am writing a prayer for my aunt who passed away. My aunt was a very kind woman who was always there for any of her family members. She loved to cook and bake cookies, which were delicious! She went on many trips with her husband when they were younger. They had two children: one boy named Jonathan and one girl named Sarah. Jonathan is now thirty-five years old and married with two daughters of his own. He lives in Florida with his wife and kids. Sarah still lives at home because she does not have a job yet; however she plans on getting one soon so that she can move out into an apartment or house by herself like most young adults do these days. I will miss both my aunt and uncle very much since they were such great people!
I’m heartbroken.
I’m heartbroken.
I feel like I’m drowning in my grief, but I know that it’s normal to feel this way right now. This is how it goes when someone you love dies: You feel angry at them for leaving and then guilty for being angry; you want to be alone, but also find yourself craving company; nothing seems as important as getting through the next minute, hour or day. I’m not alone in my feelings of loss or despair—others around me are grieving too—but what helps me get through each day is reminding myself that the pain will pass (and if there’s any comfort in knowing that someday things won’t hurt so much anymore).
I miss my aunt so much.
You’ll be missed, Auntie. You were the greatest person I’ve ever known. You meant so much to me and I will always miss you. There’s no one else in this world like you, no one that can take your place or even come close to being as great as you were. Your death has changed my life forever, but the good news is that now we’ll be together forever in heaven!
She was so special to me, always there with a listening ear and words of encouragement.
She was so special to me, always there with a listening ear and words of encouragement. You were the first person I went to when I had problems. You listened and helped me solve them. You also made me feel better when I was down in the dumps. Your positive attitude was infectious!
I can’t tell you how many times you came through for me when I needed someone to talk to during hard times or just talk about everyday life with—it doesn’t matter what it is because she always had something nice to say! She kept a smile on my face until we could both laugh again.
It doesn’t seem fair that she’s gone.
It doesn’t seem fair that she’s gone. She had so much more to live for and so much more to give to others. She was such a special person, both to me and to so many others who loved her.
It seems like just last week we were celebrating her birthday and now she’s dead? How could this happen so quickly?
Why did you have to take her away?
Dear God,
I don’t understand why you had to take her away. I know that you have a plan for us, but it doesn’t seem fair that she had to die before her time. She was such a good person and she didn’t deserve to have cancer. I often wonder if there is something I could have done differently in order to prevent this from happening. But then I realize how silly it sounds because if there was anything you wanted me to do differently then why would you allow the situation? Also, by thinking about what happened as unjust or unfair makes me feel like my aunt’s death wasn’t part of your plan for her life which means her death doesn’t fit within your bigger plan for us all. So then maybe we should talk about how awesome it is when things work out according to plan instead of focusing on what went wrong during those times too?
Anyways moving forward from here…
I need her here with me.
I need her here with me.
I don’t know how it happened, but when you died, a part of me went with you. I feel the pain of missing you every second of every day, and I wonder if this will ever end.
I know that life is unpredictable and unfair at times, but when my aunt passed away from cancer two years ago, I couldn’t understand why it happened or why it had to be her—and not someone else who deserved something good in their lives.
My family is still grieving; we all want what was taken from us: our loved one back again!
But then, I remember the promise of heaven you gave us in scripture.
But then, I remember the promise of heaven you gave us in scripture. You told us that Jesus would never leave us or forsake us. You reminded us that he would give us eternal life and we could call him our own personal Savior. And though it wasn’t easy for me to accept that at first—I was still angry and had no idea how to understand what exactly happened—reading through Matthew chapter 5 helped me realize that this was God’s plan all along: to send His only son down here so he could die for our sins so we wouldn’t have to spend eternity separated from Him.
When I accepted Christ as my savior, everything changed for me and I felt like I finally understood what it meant when people said “it gets better.” It didn’t take long before I realized how beautiful life really is here on earth with family who loves each other unconditionally because they know who they belong with in eternity!
When Jesus left His disciples, He told them He would go to prepare a place for them, and then return to take them home to be with him.
When Jesus left His disciples, He told them He would go to prepare a place for them, and then return to take them home to be with him.
They didn’t understand at first, because they could not see the difference between heaven and earth. They said, “When will you return?” And Jesus replied, “I am going away but will come back again and take you with me so that you may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going (John 14:2-3).
The Bible is clear that there will be a time when we see our loved ones again! We can trust God’s promise because He has never broken His word—not even once! If God promises something in His Word then it’s true no matter how dark things may seem now.
There is no sickness or pain or death in heaven; only joy and peace and life.
Now, I will tell you something that the Bible says about heaven. It is a place where there is no sickness or pain or death. In fact, Paul tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:6-11 that when we are with Jesus we are not only free from sin but also from all of its effects.
If this is true then why do we still suffer here on earth? As Christians who love God and want to live according to His plans for our lives, we can be sure that our suffering will not last forever since Jesus promised us eternal life with him (John 14:3). When you think about it this way it’s easy to see how important it is for us as believers in Christ not only here on earth but throughout eternity!
That’s what you have for my aunt now.
I’ve thought of you often these past few days, and I’m sure you have as well. We all have different ways of coping with death. For some people, it’s easier to focus on their own lives and avoid thinking about those they’ve lost. It can be difficult to accept that someone we care about has passed away if they were young (like my aunt), especially if they died suddenly or unexpectedly. But no matter what kind of relationship we had with them in life, our loved ones are always with us in spirit—and that’s what you have for my aunt now.
I know how hard it is for me to remember the good times without letting myself feel sad about the present circumstances. As much as I want her back here on earth with us again (and believe me when I say I do), God has made a place for her in heaven where there is no more pain or suffering. He has shown me through scripture that this world isn’t our home; rather than mourning over earthly things which are temporary anyway (because even if they last forever), we should focus instead on what lasts forever: our relationship with God through Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 7:31).
What a wonderful thought!
As you recall, your aunt was a Christian. She believed in God, and she loved to talk about Him. In fact, she was so excited by the promise of heaven that she would bring it up in conversation all the time—even when people didn’t want to talk about it! This is because the thought of being with God forever is such a wonderful thought.
But if you were my aunt, I would also ask how you felt about heaven as an event that would occur long after your death. Would you be looking forward to spending eternity with your Creator? Or would there be other reasons for being reluctant or hesitant? In light of what happened today, do these questions hold less meaning for me than they did before?
My days without her will be sad ones, but I know she is happy at last and in no more pain.
It is important to remember the good times you had with her. She will be watching over you and making sure that you are happy, so it’s important to be thankful for the time you had with her.
You are not alone in this sadness—we all know it will be difficult without our loved ones, but we also know that they do not want us to suffer when they’re gone. We must look at their passing as a blessing from God; He has taken them to a better place where there is no more pain or suffering.
She will never truly be gone from your heart because she has left an imprint on it that will last forever—you’ll remember how much she loved spending time with family and friends, going on adventures together or simply staying home together watching movies or talking about life’s challenges (or successes).
