According to the bible, No angel nor saint, and not even Mary herself can improve the access to God we already have through Christ and his finished work. Jesus said (quoting the Old Testament), “Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only” (Matthew 4:10). The Bible explicitly warns against praying to angels and emphasizes that our access to God is through Christ alone. Angels serve those who will inherit salvation, but they are not to be worshipped or prayed to. Angels were created by God (just as we were), and only our Creator is worthy of our adoration. We also aren’t to pray to angels — and we don’t need to use them as a point of access to God! The Bible says, “Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14). But the Bible also clearly teaches that we aren’t to worship angels or pray to them.
The Role of Angels in Prayer from The Bible
Most Christians are familiar with what Christ has done on the cross and what Christ will do when he returns in glory. What may be less clear for some of us is the continuing work that Jesus is doing for us now.
The answer to that question is, Jesus Christ is interceding for us. And we don’t need angels in our prayers.

The word intercede means literally, to move or pass between.[1] It is to stand in the gap between two parties. This is what Jesus Christ is doing now! He stands in the gap between us and the Father, bringing us to the Father and holding us in relationship with him. He lives for this purpose! There is never a time when he is not actively engaged in this ministry on our behalf. It is his continuing work.
What Do Angels Do when We Pray
The angels were created by God for one purpose: to carry out His will. The Bible says, “Praise the Lord, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will” (Psalm 103:21). One way they do this is by watching over God’s people and protecting us from the evil schemes of our spiritual enemy, the devil.
Although they are largely unseen by us, God’s angels are constantly at work to safeguard us — and when our life’s journey is over, they will accompany us into God’s presence in heaven forever. The Bible calls them “ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation” (Hebrews 1:14).

Messengers of God
Angels often serve as messengers of God, delivering important messages and warnings to His people. In Luke 1:26-27, the angel Gabriel appears to Mary to announce the birth of Jesus, saying, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God.” This demonstrates how angels play a vital role in conveying God’s messages to His chosen ones.
Warriors in Spiritual Battles
Angels are also warriors in spiritual battles, fighting against the forces of evil on behalf of believers. In Revelation 12:7, we read, “And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.” This verse highlights the ongoing spiritual warfare that angels are engaged in to protect God’s people.
Comfort and Encouragement
Angels provide comfort and encouragement to believers in times of need and distress. In Matthew 4:11, after Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, “angels came and attended him.” This verse shows that angels minister to believers during times of trials and difficulties, offering them strength and support.
Escorting Believers to Heaven
When believers pass from this life into eternity, angels will accompany them into God’s presence in heaven. Final Escort to Heaven
When believers breathe their last breath on earth, angels will be there to escort them into the presence of God in heaven. In Psalm 23:4, we read, “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” This verse assures believers that angels will be with them every step of the way, guiding them safely into God’s eternal kingdom.
Through these verses, we see the vital role that angels play in God’s plan for His people. They are His faithful servants who watch over, protect, guide, and comfort believers, ensuring their safety and well-being both in this life and the next. As we journey through life, let us take comfort in the knowledge that God’s angels are always by our side, ready to serve and protect us according to His will.
How Do Our Prayers Get to Heaven
The first scene depicts the opening of the seals in heaven.
After the seventh seal was broken by the Lamb, there was a period of silence in heaven that lasted for almost half an hour. 1st verse of Revelation

Saints are offered up in prayer. Saints are those who have become children of God and are filled with the Holy Spirit as a result of their faith in Christ. The term “saints” is used throughout the Bible to describe all of these individuals. On the other hand, what happens when those who believe pray?
During the third scene, the prayers of Christians are made fragrant.
Scene three transports us once more to the heavenly realm. When Christians pray on earth, something happens in heaven and in heaven itself! Our prayers travel upwards to heaven, but before they get at the throne of God, something does to our prayers while they are in the process of ascending. It is the things that happen to them that give them their power and abilities.
Another angel appeared and stood at the altar with a golden censer. He was given a large amount of incense to offer along with the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar that was placed in front of the throne. The smoke of the incense, along with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God from the hand of the angel. (3 and 4) Revelation 8:3-6
The aroma of incense, which is sweet and fragrant, is able to neutralize the odor of anything that is stale or smells unpleasant. According to the Old Testament, God gave the command to Aaron, the high priest, to burn incense in the location where prayer would be performed (Exodus 30:6, 7). This served as a reminder to the people that they required the fragrance of God’s kindness to permeate the location where prayers would be given on behalf of the people.

When you pray, you will frequently get the feeling that your prayers are not quite as effective as they may be. Do you ask for the appropriate things? If I ask, am I asking the appropriate question? Am I asking with the appropriate reasons in mind? This is the message that we are receiving, which is that our prayers, which are weak, faltering, and frequently feeble, are perfumed in order to remove the odor of anything that is stale, unworthy, confusing, silly, or erroneous.
When our prayers are heard by the Father, they are infused with the sweetness of the Lord himself, which enables them to be powerful and effective despite the fact that we perceive them to be lacking in terms of their effectiveness.
Jesus’s life is dedicated to making our feeble and fumbling petitions answerable. His presence is what separates us from the Father. Through the blood of Jesus, our feeble petitions are cleansed and made fragrant, so that the stuttering prayers of individuals like us might carry weight with the power of the Almighty God!
