benediction prayer in spanish

May you always be blessed, and may your heart stay open to the mysteries of the world. May you remain humble in your quest for knowledge, and may you never forget that we are all connected by our common humanity. May you live in peace with all people, and may your heart be filled with compassion for those who suffer. May you find joy in everything at least once, but may you also remember that true happiness comes from within. May you experience love in all its forms, and may your life be filled with moments of pure joy and contentment. And lastly, may you always remember: we are all here on this earth together—so let us cherish each other!

Lord, please bless all those who have joined us here today. May your blessing be upon them, and may their lives be filled with joy, peace, and health. Thank you for being with us today. Amen.

May the blessing of God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit be with you now and forever. Amen

Dear Lord,

We thank you for the many blessings of our lives. We thank you for the day we spent together. We thank you for the time we spent in this place. We thank you for the food that nourishes our bodies and the water that cleanses our souls. We thank you for all of these things. Amen.

May God bless you and keep you.

May God make His face shine on you and be gracious to you.

May God turn His face toward you and give you peace.

God, in your mercy and love,

we ask that you bless us this day.

May your light guide us as we walk through our challenges,

and may your grace help us find the strength to overcome them.

May the peace you provide be with us at all times,

especially when we are alone or feel most vulnerable.

Grant us the wisdom to know what is true and real, and the strength to put it into practice in our daily lives.

Help us make wise choices so that we may live a life of integrity and honor.

May the Lord bless us, protect us and keep us. May he make his face shine on us and give us peace. Amen

May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make his face shine upon you, and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up his countenance upon you, and give you peace. Amen

May the Lord bless you and keep you,

May the Lord make His face to shine upon you,

And may the Lord direct His countenance toward you,

And give you peace.

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

In this Living Hour post, we’ll share a Spanish translation of the Lord’s Prayer (Padre Nuestro). Whenever one thinks about Spain and its contribution to progressive Christianity and theology, the works of Miguel de Unamuno come to mind—especially his book The Agony of Christianity. Don’t let the title fool you, Unamuno’s work isn’t one of despair or depression but rather love and hope.

In other words, Unamuno believes that feelings of agony are often pathways to God. And that all true Christianity is mysticism—as can be seen throughout the Gospels in Jesus’s words and teaching (see our post Miguel de Unamono & Jesus). Unamuno felt that to be Christian was to embrace a mystical attitude towards life. And thus his theology falls squarely within the Living Hour’s modern Lord’s Prayer interpretation.

We’ve also included the English translation of the Lord’s Prayer for those native Spanish speakers who are learning English and vice versa.

THE OUR FATHER PRAYER IN SPANISH

Padre nuestro, que estas en el cielo, santificado sea tu nombre;

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;

Venga a nosotros tu reino,

Thy kingdom come,

Hágase tu voluntad, en la tierra como en el cielo.

Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Danos hoy nuestro pan de cada dia,

Give us this day our daily bread,

Perdona nuestras ofensas, como también nosotros perdonamos a los que nos ofenden.

Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

No nos dejes caer en la tentación

Lead us not into temptation

Y líbranos del mal

And deliver us from evil.

Porque tuyo es el reino, el poder, y la gloria

For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory

Por los siglos de los siglos. Amén.

Forever and ever. Amen.

Litany of Hope – English and SpanishGod of Compassion, whenever two or three are gathered in your name you are in their midst. Loving God, you have called us each by name and invited us to respond as a community of faith with hope, help and healing to those whose lives have been wounded by betrayal, abuse and violence.

Heal them and make them whole, that they may once more receive and give love with confidence in their dignity as your sons and daughters.  In Jesus name. Amen.

As people of faith we believe in the kingdom of God, therefore, today, we respond with a litany of hope.

Prayer to St. Rita, Patron of Abused Women

St. Rita, you understood the sorrows of the human heart. By the grace of God, you overcame domestic violence and lived in faith and hope.
Through your intercession, may families overcome conflicts and tensions and build peace in their homes. Inspire us to reach out to those who suffer physical, verbal, and sexual abuse.
Pray for us, that we may discover ways to help restore the spiritual well-being of our families, our friends and our community. With you, we believe that all things are possible for God.
Amen.
