Born-again Christians face a lot of persecution. This is why it should be a goal of our lives to pray for born-again Christians. When you pray for born-again Christians, you are showing your support for them, and you are also humbling your heart before God. We all have fallen short, and this is why we need the prayers in our lives of other Christians.
Dear God, I pray that you will take this day and use it to guide me on the right path. I want to be a better person, and I know that you are the only one who can help me achieve that. Please let me be a positive force in the world. Help me to be a beacon of light in others’ lives, and help me to show them how much you love them. Make my faith so strong that nothing or anyone can ever be able to shake it, no matter how terrible it might seem. Thank you for always being there for me and never failing me when I need you most.
Dear Lord, thank you for the gift of life and for making me what I am. Thank you for the love of my friends and family, the opportunities you have given me, and the chance to be a part of this world. Help me to remember that I am here for a reason; help me to see that purpose wherever I look. I know that I am not perfect, but that does not mean that I am not worthy of your love. Help me to always be honest with myself as well as with others. Help me to grow into the best version of myself possible—the one who is kind yet strong, who loves others but also loves herself. Show me how to be happy in this world, how to make others happy as well, and how to do it all without losing touch with myself or forgetting who I am at my core.

Prayer For Born Again
Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior.
Dear God,
Thank you for giving me a chance to be born again. I know it is not easy to do that. I am truly thankful that you did it for me. I want to spend my life with you and make you proud by doing what is right and good in your eyes. Please forgive me for all the things that I have done wrong in the past, and help me not to do them again. Help me always to love others as much as I love myself, because that is what Jesus would do.
Thank you for loving me even though I have been sinful and disobedient most of my life. Forgive me for not believing in you when I was younger, and help me never question your existence again now that we are together again at last!
Help me share this wonderful news with everyone else so they can also be born again into eternal life with Christ our Lord!
Dear Lord,
I come before you today to thank you for the gift of rebirth. I know that it is because of your great mercy that I have been given this chance to begin again. Without your grace, I would be lost in my sins and unable to find my way back to you. Please give me strength and guidance as I try to live a life that honors you.
Amen
Dear God, thank you for giving me the chance to be born again. I know that I have sinned and done bad things, but I want to change. I want to become a better person than I was before. Please help me with this journey, and give me strength to do what’s right. Thank you for everything. Amen.
O God, I come to you today as a sinner, seeking your forgiveness and mercy. I know that through Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, you have provided the way for me to be reconciled with you.
I repent of my sins and ask that you would forgive me and help me to turn away from them. I believe in Jesus Christ as my savior, who died on the cross and rose again so that all who believe in him may have eternal life.
Please fill me with your Holy Spirit, so that I may live for you every day. Amen
Dear God,
I come before you today to ask for your forgiveness and guidance. I am a sinner who has strayed from your path. I know that you have given me free will, but I am asking that you guide me back to the straight and narrow. I want to live a life that honors you, and I want my life to be filled with joy, peace, and freedom. Please help me find my way back home, so that together we can create a better world for our children.
Dear God,
I have sinned in my life. I have not always been a good person. I have lied, cheated, and stolen.
Please forgive me for these sins and accept me into your kingdom.
Thank you for loving me even though I’m not perfect.
Dear God,
I pray that you will grant me the strength to overcome the temptation to commit adultery. In my heart, I know that committing adultery is wrong. But in my flesh, I am weak.
I ask that you would strengthen me in my resolve to always remain faithful to my husband/wife, and help me to resist any temptation to stray from our marriage bed.
Please guide me as I seek out ways to improve our relationship. Please help me to see my spouse’s needs, and please help me find ways in which we can meet those needs together.
I have been born again through faith in Jesus Christ. I know that nothing can separate us from His love, not even death itself (Romans 8:38-39). Please help me remember those words when the days get hard and it feels like our lives are falling apart around us!
In Jesus’ name I pray these things, amen!
Born Again Prayer In The Bible
Become a Follower of Jesus Christ Today
A salvation prayer, known by many Christians as a “Sinners Prayer,” is a prayer one would say to repent from sin, ask God for forgiveness, confess belief in Jesus Christ, and accept him as Lord and Savior. Saying a salvation prayer is the first step in your relationship with God.
If you believe the Bible offers truth about the way to salvation but have not taken the step to become a Christian, it’s as simple as praying this prayer. You can pray by yourself, using your own words. There is no special formula. Just pray from your heart to God, and he will save you. If you feel lost and don’t know what to pray, here’s a salvation prayer that you can follow:
Prayer of Salvation
Dear Lord,
I admit that I am a sinner. I have done many things that don’t please you. I have lived my life for myself only. I am sorry, and I repent. I ask you to forgive me.
I believe that you died on the cross for me, to save me. You did what I could not do for myself. I come to you now and ask you to take control of my life; I give it to you. From this day forward, help me to live every day for you and in a way that pleases you.
I love you, Lord, and I thank you that I will spend all eternity with you.
Amen.
Sinners Prayer For Salvation
Here is another short prayer of salvation that evangelical pastors often pray with people at the altar:
Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for dying on the cross for my sin. Please forgive me. Come into my life. I receive You as my Lord and Savior. Now, help me to live for you the rest of this life.
In the name of Jesus, I pray.
Amen.
Is There An Official Sinner’s Prayer?
The salvation prayers above are not official prayers. They are meant only to be used as guides or examples of how you can talk to God and ask Jesus Christ to become your Lord and Savior. You may adapt these prayers or use your own words.
There is no magic formula or prescribed pattern that has to be followed to receive salvation. Remember the criminal who hung on the cross next to Jesus? His prayer consisted of these words only: “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” God knows what is in our hearts. Our words aren’t all that important.
Some Christians call this type of prayer a “Sinner’s Prayer.” While the term is not found in the Bible, the concept is based in Scripture:
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. (Romans 10:9-10, NIV)
Psalm 51
In Psalm 51, King David asked God for forgiveness. This is another example of a salvation prayer in the Bible:
Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night. Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight … Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me— now let me rejoice.
Don’t keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you …The sacrifice you desire is a broken spirit. You will not reject a broken and repentant heart, O God.
(Excerpts from Psalm 51, NLT)
Now What?
If you just prayed a sincere prayer of faith and you’re wondering what to do next as a new Christian, check out these helpful suggestions:
- Salvation is by grace, through faith. There’s nothing you did, or ever can do, to deserve it. Salvation is a free gift from God. All you have to do is receive it!
- Tell someone about your decision. It’s important that you tell someone to make it public, secure, and firm. Find a brother or sister in the Lord and tell him or her, “Hey, I made a decision to follow Jesus.” Tell someone today if you can. It’s a great way to seal the deal.
- Talk to God every day. You don’t have to use big fancy words. There are no right and wrong words. Just be yourself. Thank the Lord daily for your salvation. Pray for others in need. Seek his direction. Pray for the Lord to fill you daily with his Holy Spirit. There is no limit to prayer. You can pray with your eyes closed or open, while sitting or standing, kneeling or lying on your bed, anywhere, anytime.
