Importance of Serving God in Your Youth

Humans are often motivated by different reasons ranging from selfish interests to acclaimed love as a base for why we want to commit to doing anything as well as why we should serve God.

Christians have different reasons why they want to serve God which makes it a difficult question. It requires calm, patience and a bit of introspection to find answers.

If we must serve God, we must be born again and be willing to devote our time to his service; working in his vineyard, living a righteous life, helping out with needs in the church, and loving one another. But if we have a real relationship with God, we will serve him with all our heart, not minding the circumstances.

Importance of Serving God“Serving God” is one of the important reasons man was created from the beginning. We serve not just because we want to serve but love man has to carry out; that we have a loving Creator, a true genuine Father in every sense of the word.

He is patient toward us, always showing his mercy toward us, always deals with us in his steadfast love. He has provided for us a mediator in His beloved son Jesus who had died on the cross of Calvary, who is also our advocate for us before our Father God.

We serve God, not out of obligation but out of thanksgiving, for the realization that we are never alone because we are always in the presence of our God and our heavenly Father.

The book of John 12:26 explains that we serve God by believing and following Jesus, and we are not a servant of God anymore but become children of God (John 1:12-13) and a friend of Jesus (John 15:9-17).

Since Jesus is the way, the truth and the life (John 14:6); without serving God by believing and following Jesus, we will perish (John 3:16-17).

The importance of serving God, according to 1 Peter 4:10-11; “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power forever and ever. Amen.”

Peter shared that we have received our gifts from God for two purposes; to serve others and to bring praise to God. Serving isn’t about us receiving attention or glory; it is for Him to receive glory.

When you see and understand the Importance of serving God, you are bound to enjoy all the blessings, the joy, the benefit and everything aligned in serving God.

The Consequence of Not Serving God

The Consequence of Not Serving God

The most dramatic example of a group of people who followed God and another group who did not were the Israelites. They were tested by God in the desert after being rescued from the Egyptians. At the beginning of their 40-year wilderness experience, they were all getting ready to go into the Promised Land.

However, before they went in, they sent in twelve spies to see what the enemies looked like and what they would encounter once they crossed over to take over the land from some of the evil people occupying the promise land. When the spies came back, ten of them came back with a bad report. They said the enemies were too big and that their kingdoms were too well fortified.

Note, the Israelites had just seen one of the greatest displays of God’s power that the world has ever seen when He threw 10 plagues at Pharaoh to set them free. Yet, just as they were getting ready to cross over into their Promised Land, they started questioning and doubting that God could take their enemies out for them, even though God had just delivered them from Egypt after several years of slavery and suffering.

God could see their lack of faith in Him that He could conquer these lands for them. He pronounced severe judgment on them, telling them that all of the men 20 years of age and older would not enter into the Promised Land due to their lack of faith and belief in Him to be able to accomplish this mission for them, and because they had not “wholly followed God” – Numbers 32:11.

God stated that He will allow Joshua, Caleb and all the men under 20 years of age to go in there to conquer and possess the land – all because they had a “different spirit” in them and because they would be willing to “follow God fully.”

This story is a good poster story of a group of people who were willing to “follow God fully,” and another group “who were not.”

The “Joshua group” was willing to “follow God fully” and as such, they got to go into the Promised Land, while the other group did not!

There are consequences of not having enough faith and belief in God, and not being willing to “fully follow” Him.

Written in Isaiah 30:1; “Woe to the rebellious children says the Lord, Who take counsel, but not of Me, And who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, That they may add sin to sin.”

“If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; but if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword;” for the mouth of the Lord has spoken” – Isaiah 1:19-20.

Sometimes we make bad choices in life and suffer the consequences, yet many of these times, God blesses us and delivers us from those choices.

Joshua led the Israelites into the promise land but took a moment to point out to them that God had delivered them many times even when they did not deserve it. He challenged them to choose between who they were going to serve.

So, when you choose God and His path for your life; you will find true inner happiness and fulfilment in life.

    The Joy of Serving God

The Joy of Serving GodJoy is stable and has an ever-present attitude in life. It is more than happiness. It is more than laughter. It is related to peace and hope. But it is not a joy that’s based on circumstances; it is a joy based on the power, the person, and the purposes of God in our life.

The book of Joshua 24:15 states; “But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.”

The first thing we see revealed is a whole-hearted commitment to please God.

For you and your household to enjoy the joy of the lord, you have to choose yourself to commit fully to him. You have to commit to please God and to serve God. Mary was willing to serve God no matter what the result and outcome were, whether life or death. If you think about it, it could be a scary thing to have to decide. God or me? But She humbly chose God.

Many looks at serving the Lord as “a punishment.” Yet those who choose to serve God are more contented and happier with their life than those who do not serve the Lord and others.

The book of 1 Peter 4:10 – “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.”

Joy is tuning in to what God is doing around you, seeing the world through his eyes, picking up on his delight in us as his children. Anyone can find happiness for a while. Yeah. Happiness depends on what is happening to you.

Joy is different, it goes deeper. Joy is when your whole being sings because you have caught a glimpse of God at work. Joy can creep up on you and surprise you in unexpected places. Because we are loved by God, He wants us to be ever joyful.

Joy is a critical fruit for us to have in our characters because it serves as an antidote to all the despair that surrounds us daily. Let the joy of the Lord be your strength every day. Amen.

    Blessings In Serving God

We all want our lives to matter, the reason we do the things we do. We chase promotions and leadership positions because we want to make a big difference. We encourage our kids to go to college, get a good job, and make lots of money, in hopes that they, also, will make a difference.

There’s nothing wrong with wealth or influence, but those things alone won’t change the world and they aren’t what we were created for. When we serve God we discover and develop our spiritual gifts.

Blessings In Serving God 1 Corinthians 12 likens the church to a human body. Just like our bodies are made of many parts with different specific functions, the church is made up of people with different skills and abilities. Once the body is Alone, these pieces aren’t very useful, but together we create something beautiful.

Serving allows us to experience God miracles.

In John 2, Jesus was at a wedding and the couple was running out of wine for its guests. He tells the servants to fill several big jars to the brim. When they served the water to the guests, it was wine! The guests never knew what happened; the servants were the ones who witnessed the miracle. The same happens to us in different and various dimensions when we truly serve God.

Serving allows us to experience the joy and peace that comes from obedience.

1 Peter 4:10-11 says, “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.”

Serving is a form of worship, a way to express gratitude for what Jesus has done for us, and to share the love and grace we’ve been given.

We shift our focus off of ourselves onto others through serving. We begin to see others as Jesus sees them. And we see Jesus in others (Matthew 25:40). Serving surround, us with other Christians who can help us follow Jesus.

When we’re working side by side with other people, a bond inevitably forms. This was part of God’s plan for how the church operates. That’s why the book of Hebrews 10:24 tells us to “spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, but encouraging one another.”

As we move out of our comfort zones, God increases our faith by revealing new potential in ourselves and His Church.

When we see what He can do when His power is at work within us, we begin looking for the doors He’s opening rather than pushing our way through the one’s He’s closed. (Ephesians 3:20).

The Benefit of Serving God In Our Youth.

Benefit of Youths Serving GodWhen we allow kids to serve at church, they are doing God’s work. God doesn’t care about their age or their particular stage of life. He cares more that His children are reflecting the body of Christ and serving others before themselves.

The benefits of serving God in your youth days are plentiful. Even the bible tells us to remember the things of the Lord in our youth. The time we spent serving others truly lays a solid Biblical foundation for them as they enter into adulthood (and the problems and obstacles they’ll face there).

    Learning Responsibility:

When youth learn to serve at church, they are learning responsibility. Even if they have chores at home, they need to learn responsibility in a variety of ways. Whether they are simply tasked with holding a door open for church visitors or any other, they are learning that their help is an important part of making church happen. Giving them responsibility and accountability.

    Develop Confidence and Self Esteem:

When you serve God in your youth, you develop confidence in yourself and that of the holy spirit. You learn how to create a good relationship with God and the people around you.

You will find outstanding mentors and you will discover your true gift or talent God has given to you. You will be given the privileged of putting others before you.

You learn how to be a good leader and others will want to learn from you.

Serving God is a very important piece of our lives.

We get the reward of his blessings, his joy, the benefits and so much more when we dedicate our lives to serving him in truth and spirit.
