The greatest heroes and legends of the Bible

The Bible is filled with countless heroic tales, but these are some of the most epic.

David vs. Goliath

The story of David and Goliath is a classic. King Saul was worried that his army would be defeated by the Philistines and sent his son, Jonathan, to find out if there was anyone brave enough to face down the giant warrior. David volunteered, saying he would fight Goliath singlehandedly. He took his sling and five smooth stones, went out into battle, and slew the giant with a single stone to the forehead.

Jonah and the whale

When God told Jonah to go preach against Nineveh and its wickedness, Jonah refused because he knew they would repent if they heard his message. Instead of preaching, Jonah boarded a ship heading in the other direction—and it sank! When he finally decided to go back home (after being swallowed by a great fish), he found that God had given him another chance: Nineveh had repented!
