St joseph prayer for fathers

St. Joseph is the patron saint of fathers, immigrants, and families. The prayer below is a great way to ask St. Joseph to help your family or someone else’s through a challenge they are facing.

O God of all, who chose to be the father of Jesus, bless all fathers. Help them to understand that their role is a key one in the development of their children. Open their hearts to love and respect their role as educators, both by word and by daily example in living out Gospel values. May they be for their families lighthouses, protecting them from storms, guiding them safely to the harbor of your peace. Amen.”

Prayers to st joseph for family

God of all, who chose to be the father of Jesus, bless all fathers.

Fathers are a special gift from you, and they bring great joy into our lives. They are loving and kind, sometimes strict but always fair. They provide guidance and protection for their children, teach them how to do what’s right in your eyes through their words and example. Some fathers teach us how to fish on summer afternoons while others teach us how not to lose your temper when an older brother has pushed over yet another tower made out of Legos (you know those towers are so much stronger than those lame blocks).

Dear God: please help me be the best father I can possibly be so that my son knows how much I love him; please help me teach him what it means to follow your ways through my words and example; please help me provide guidance as he grows up knowing that he can always come back home if things get too hard outside this house because no matter where life takes him or what choices he makes there will always be a special place here waiting for him with open arms whenever he needs it most!

Help them to understand that their role is a key one in the development of their children.

FATHER’S DAY is a time to celebrate and appreciate fathers, whether you’re a father or not. This day gives us an opportunity to consider how important our fathers were in our lives.

Fathers are key figures in the development of their children’s personalities, values and beliefs. They are role models for their children, teaching them right from wrong by the way they act themselves. Fathers also play an important part in teaching their children how to handle money as well as helping them develop good work habits which will be useful later on in life.

Furthermore, studies show that children who grow up with both parents tend to do better academically than those who don’t have this kind of support system at home (Source).

  • Open their hearts to love and respect their role as educators, both by word and by daily example in living out Gospel values.
  • Fathers should be good examples to their children. They should spend time with them and help them understand the importance of education. Children look up to their fathers for guidance, so it’s important that fathers spend quality time with them each day.

Prayer to St. joseph that never fails

May they be for their families lighthouses, protecting them from storms, guiding them safely to the harbor of your peace. Amen.

  • This prayer is a little on the long side but it really packs a punch! If you want to shorten it up a bit then go right ahead and do so. Just remember that if you cut something out of this prayer then you may want to add another line somewhere else in your ceremony because it will sound weird if there are gaps between lines of text like this one.

It’s good practice when writing any ceremony script (especially Catholic) to keep repeating things constantly over time so that people understand what’s going on and don’t get confused by what’s happening around them or who is doing what at which time during the ceremony itself. You can also use repetition throughout your entire script for other reasons too; for example: repeating key words or phrases throughout helps reinforce certain messages which can be important when writing something like an announcement or announcement video script (or even blog posts).

This prayer can be used on Father’s Day, but also any time we want to bless all fathers. It is a blessing for all fathers.

This prayer is adapted from the St Joseph Prayer Office which was written by Bishop Robert J Jolley (1931 – 2004), a former bishop of Birmingham Alabama, who served as an auxiliary bishop in that diocese from 1988-1992.

Father’s Day is an important time to recognize our fathers and all the work they do to support their families. We hope this prayer can be used as part of a Father’s Day celebration, but it can also be used any time you want to bless all fathers.

O glorious Saint Joseph,

faithful follower of Jesus Christ,

to thee do we raise our hearts and hands.

Dear Saint Joseph,

You are the patron saint of fathers, foster fathers and families. You were a humble carpenter who became a father to Jesus and Mary at such an early age. You are known for your simplicity, generosity, purity and faithfulness in serving God and others.

As a father myself I ask you to please pray for me as I strive to be the best father possible for my son(s). Please ask God that he will continue to bless us with love & grace through each other’s lives.

prayer to st joseph for family

faithful follower of Jesus Christ,

Father, you are a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. You have given your life to Him and followed Him in everything He has asked you to do. I pray for the peace of God to keep me safe from the evil one’s attacks on my mind, body, and spirit today. To this end I ask that you would give me wisdom by which to discern his schemes against me so that I may be able to defeat him with Your power through Christ Jesus our Lord.

to thee do we raise our hearts and hands

To you do we raise our hearts and hands, O St. Joseph, who are the father of Jesus Christ, foster-father of the Church and protector of all who truly believe in you.

To you do we entrust our families and homes: protect them from harm and evil; lead us all to eternal salvation through Christ Our Lord. Amen (Followed by a prayer for your specific request).

to implore thy powerful intercession in obtaining from the benign heart of Jesus all the helps and graces necessary for our spiritual and temporal welfare,

O good St. Joseph,

who wast chosen by God to be the foster-father of His Incarnate Son, and whose name has become a refuge for all who are in distress or danger, I humbly commend myself to thy powerful intercession.

Thou art an especial patron of fathers, and it is thy privilege to obtain for us from our heavenly Father all the graces necessary for our spiritual welfare and that of our families. Pity me then, O dear St. Joseph! Pray for me that the example of Thy holy life may guide me on my way through this world; pray also that my mind may never be entirely separated from Jesus who suffered so much in this city; pray still more that I may ever have Him before my eyes, not only as my Savior but also as He lived here on earth among men–poor and lowly like ourselves–yet victorious over death by His Resurrection.”

particularly the grace of a happy death,

It is particularly the grace of a happy death that parents desire for their children. We ask that you give them this grace, o Lord, so that they may leave this world well and happy, with the knowledge that they have been well prepared for eternal life.

And the special favor we now implore (mention your request here…).

Saint Joseph, foster father of Christ,

kindle in our hearts a love for those who are dear to us.

Inflame our hearts with love for the Church, which is like unto Our Lord Jesus Christ. Grant that we may be ever mindful of the needs of others and especially those who suffer most.

May each one of us be blessed with devotion to thee and follow thy example as spouse and parent. Through Mary Immaculate obtain for us a greater appreciation for family life so that all might come closer to their families during this most important time in their lives—the time when they reach out to you asking for help through prayer, petitioning your intercession on behalf of their marriage; give them strength and courage so they can overcome whatever obstacles stand before them at this time; let them know that You will not abandon them but rather guide them on their journey together as husband & wife!

St joseph prayer for protection

Vouchsafe to recommend it to thy foster-Son, Jesus Christ Our Lord, that He may graciously vouchsafe to hear us and answer our prayers for the welfare of all fathers – both spiritual and temporal.

and pleads it with Him in thy quality as His guardian and protector. Amen.

  • Pray to St Joseph, invoke him as your heavenly patron and protector.
  • Plead it with Him in thy quality as His guardian and protector. Amen.

If you pray this prayer regularly and with devotion, St. Joseph will help you to fulfill your heart’s desire. He will also intercede for you before the throne of God.

O Glorious St. Joseph, faithful follower of Jesus Christ, to thee do we raise our hearts and hands to implore thy powerful intercession in obtaining from the benign Heart of Jesus all the helps and graces necessary for our spiritual and temporal welfare, particularly the grace of a happy death, and the special grace we now implore (here mention your request).

You may have specific intentions for your prayer to St. Joseph. For example, you may be asking for the health of a loved one or the healing of an illness, or perhaps you would like to ask St. Joseph to guide your family in this day and age. Whatever it is you are praying for, know that St. Joseph will hear your prayers and grant them if possible because he was chosen by God himself as the earthly father of Jesus Christ, who we believe is fully present in every mass offered on earth today!

St. Joseph’s intercession has been known throughout history as effective in obtaining divine mercy from God on behalf of those who invoke him with confidence and trustworthiness.”

Guardian of the Word Incarnate, we feel animated with confidence that thy prayers on our behalf will be graciously heard before the throne of God.

St. Joseph was chosen by God to be the foster father of Jesus Christ, who was conceived in the womb of Mary by the power of the Holy Spirit. This is why St Joseph has been exalted to heaven as patron saint for fathers and families.

Our prayer for him is that he will intercede on our behalf, especially when we are in need of his help. The following is a prayer to St Joseph, written by Pope Leo XIII:

O Glorious Patriarch! To thee do we turn with filial confidence; thou dost know what it is to be a father; thine own son experiences thy care and protection at this moment. We come before thee, venerable patriarch; obtain for us from Almighty God those things which we ask through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son and our Saviour.

“O Most Provident Father and Guardian of virgins, whose special care it is to watch over their welfare, to protect them from all harm and to promote their welfare both in this life and in the next, listen favorably to our prayer.

We humbly beseech Thee that Thou wouldst preserve us from all dangers of soul and body; that Thou wilt keep us under Thy protection and defend us against all assaults of the Enemy; that Thou wilt not suffer any temptation whatsoever to prevail against us but will vouchsafe always to come forth victorious therefrom. Amen.”

Obtain for us by thy intercession with Jesus Christ the protection and the powerful aid which we need in the trials and miseries of this life.

O God, who didst vouchsafe to assist thy servant Joseph in his trials and miseries with the protection and power of Thy grace: Grant unto us, we beseech thee, by this same Blessed Patriarch’s intercession, the protection and powerful aid which we need in the trials and miseries of this life. Through Our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

Assist us during life; recommend us at the hour of death; obtain for us a favorable judgment; and lead us safely into heaven.

For a happy death: My God, grant me a holy, tranquil, and painless death. In your mercy draw me to that place where I may behold your glory for ever. Amen.

For family members and friends: Father, you know all things before they come to pass. You enabled your servant Joseph to obtain grace from above through his prayers, faith and desire to save his brothers from sinning against you so that they could be saved by believing in you alone as their Savior. Grant the same great gift of faith unto those who call upon his intercession on this day when we ask him to assist them in coming into eternal rest with all those who love God above all things on earth! And let it be said of them as it was said of Joseph’s brothers after he died: “We saw ourselves then in our true state without any impediment or obstacle between us and Our creator (Rom 7:25).

Amen is the word for “so be it”. It is a reminder of God’s promise to answer our prayers. Amen means that you agree with something and want to affirm that statement or promise.

Amen is also the name of a prayer that we say at the end of the Lord’s Prayer (Our Father).

As we conclude our prayer for St. Joseph, let us remember to thank God for all His blessings and pray that He may continue to watch over us as we face the trials of life
