Dear God,
I have been having trouble sleeping lately. My mind is racing, my body is restless, and I am unable to quiet my thoughts. I know that you understand this struggle, as you have said that “the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word.” So here I am, asking you for help.
I want to be able to sleep peacefully in order to wake up refreshed and ready to face the day ahead. If this means I need to change something about my life, then please let me know what it is. If it means that I need to pray more fervently at night before bedtime, then please give me the strength to do so. And if it means that I need to take better care of myself in order to feel more rested when I wake up each morning—please show me how!

Heavenly Father,
Heavenly Father,
I come to you in prayer with my concerns. I ask that you help me get a good night’s sleep so that I may be well rested for the day ahead. This is my desire as I go to bed tonight, and so it shall be done according to your will.
In the name of Jesus Christ, amen
I know that you never sleep,
You never sleep, and so I know that you are watching over me. But there are many things that worry me throughout the day, and I do not feel like I can rest at night. So please help me to know that you will be with me in my sleep and give me restful slumber. Let my worries fade away as I drift into a peaceful slumber, where only dreams of goodness and love remain!
I used to worry about what was happening in the world around us, but since we have known each other better, I have come to trust that everything is going to be okay in your hands. You created everything from nothingness; therefore it cannot fail because it has already been made perfect by Your grace through faith in Jesus Christ—the Son of God who gave His life for all humanity on Earth!
May the Lord bless your soul tonight with peaceful sleep filled with dreams of peace and love.”
and that you are always watching over us.
God is always watching over us, even when we don’t feel His presence. He is there with you as you sleep and as you wake up. He helps to protect you from harm, and He keeps your body safe while it sleeps. When you are awake and alert, God is present in your mind as well; but during the hours of sleep, God can be found in your heart and soul—the place where dreams reside.
When I was younger, I used to wonder why Jesus needed to go away at night when he could simply be everywhere all the time. Now that I am older, I understand that this question reveals a misunderstanding about omnipresence and it also shows a lack of trust in God’s ability to take care of my needs (and yours). If we think about our own lives for a minute: how many times do we ask ourselves “Where am I going?” or “What do I want?” or “What should I do next?” We ask these questions because we don’t know how everything will turn out until it does! But God does know all things before they happen; therefore He doesn’t need to wonder about them like we do because if something comes up unexpectedly then He already has everything planned out perfectly beforehand so there’s nothing left for us
I ask of you to let me rest peacefully tonight,
Sleep is a very important part of life. It is said that when you sleep, you are resting and recharging your body. You become more alert and able to perform tasks better with full rest.
Sleep can also help us cope with stress, anxiety, pain and other symptoms associated with illness or disability.
and help me to release all of my worries in your care.
Prayer is a way to connect with God and experience His love for you. In this prayer, you will ask God to help you to release all of your worries and concerns into His care:
- Remember that it is not your job to worry about things. You have trusted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, so why should we worry about anything? Worrying will not change the situation or make it any better at all. We need only trust God’s goodness, faithfulness and sovereignty over our lives.
- Transferring our worries onto God is a way for us to get peace of mind when we are troubled by something in life because He cares about every little thing that happens on earth!
Please don’t let my mind wander;
- The Lord be with you.
- And also with you.
- Please don’t let my mind wander; help me to release all of my worries in your care. Help me to wake up feeling refreshed and renewed, knowing that I have been given the strength to face tomorrow’s challenges with confidence. In your name, amen
instead, grant me a peaceful night’s sleep,
Instead, grant me a peaceful night’s sleep.
For you alone know how much I need it; you alone can give it to me. And yet I always seem to be looking for something else—the latest diet fad or anti-anxiety pill, perhaps? How silly! You are the only thing that will bring me true rest and relief from my troubles. Please show me how much you love me by giving me what I really need: some good night’s sleep!
and help me to wake up feeling refreshed and renewed.
Dear God,
I ask that you heal my body, mind and spirit.
I pray for your help to get a good night’s rest and wake up feeling refreshed and renewed.
And help me to wake up feeling refreshed and renewed.
God, I thank you for the blessings that you have bestowed upon me.
I am thankful for the blessings that you have bestowed upon me. I don’t want to focus on my negative thoughts, but instead be grateful for all of the good things in my life.
These are just a few examples:
- I am thankful that I can eat food at any time of day or night and stay healthy!
- I am glad that we never have to worry about having enough water to drink or clean clothes to wear because there is always plenty available.
- It is great not having to worry about getting sick because we have medicine available if needed!
a prayer for people with insomnia
Prayer is a form of meditation, and like all forms of meditation, it can help us sleep better. It’s no secret that stress can keep us awake at night. Prayer can help relieve our stress by allowing us to release it through prayer and focus on the things that really matter. Praying for others also helps us to overcome anxiety and depression because we’re using our thoughts in a positive way instead of worrying about ourselves or our problems.
