rest in the bible

Ten Commandments to Live By: A blog around the common misconceptions of Christianity.

Rest is a concept that is common to many religions. In the Bible, rest is often associated with God and spirituality.

In the Old Testament, God uses the word “rest” to describe how Israelites should treat each other and their neighbors in Leviticus 25:1-24. This passage also says that if workers keep working during this time, they will be punished by death.

In the New Testament, Jesus talks about resting in Matthew 11:28 and Luke 9:57-62. Jesus tells John the Baptist’s disciples (including Andrew) to go back to their fishing jobs because he needs them to help him preach all over Galilee. They don’t need rest because they won’t get tired from serving him!
