The Prayer to make a good decision is one that urges the Lord to help you think clearly so that you can make sound choices. It asks for the wisdom needed to discern what is right and good as well as discerning where your talents lie in helping others. It also asks for strength to follow through on your decisions even if they may be difficult.
What is the first thing that you think about when you wake up in the morning? There are many things that we can think about on a daily basis. Work and making money always seem to surface to the top of the list for most people. Even teenagers have this problem. Having questions about what should I wear today and making sure my hair looks good in the morning takes up so much space in my mind. It is hard to believe that not many people pray to make a good decision. Prayer To Help with Decision Making is important because it is going to help you lead a happy life. Making a decision is not fun — especially a life-altering decision. Sometimes, we just want to throw our hands up and say, “I don’t know what I’m doing!” Here’s the prayer you need to help make a good decision.
There’s always so much on our minds. So many decisions to make and paths to choose. We never seem to have made a good decision when it comes time to pick. Good decision doesn’t even exist sometimes, but we continue to pray. Maybe we keep praying because the other option is worse — we’ll be left with regret that could easily have been avoided if only we had chosen correctly. It takes a lot of courage to make the right decision and stick with it as opposed to running back into our comfort zones over and over. God gives us some pretty good guidance when it comes time for a major decision that will affect the rest of our lives. What are you putting off?
Prayer To Make A Good Decision
When you’re facing big decisions and need wisdom from the Lord, be sure to cover every option in prayer before making any commitments. Here are three important prayers for decision-making that will help bring clarity and peace.
“Dear God, I look to no one else for wisdom. I humbly ask for Your help in making one of the most important decisions in my life because I don’t know how to make it without You. Please give me direction and wisdom so I can make the right decision and bring glory to Your name. Amen.”
When faced with potentially life-changing situations, sometimes you feel immobilized when it comes to making a decision. The weight of possibly making a wrong choice can prevent us from making any choice at all! As children of God, we can be confident that he will give us wisdom and clarity throughout the decision making process.
Asking God for help in making decisions may sometimes feel challenging, but remember He loves us and wants what’s best for us. Why try to make big decisions on our own when we can receive guidance from Him? His ways are better than ours.
Whether you need prayer for making a job decision, surgery decision, a big move, or something else that you are facing in your life right now, three important prayers that will help you gain clarity, peace, and perspective are the wisdom prayer, God’s character prayer, and the humility prayer.
God Guide Me To Make The Right Decision
Wisdom Prayer
Heavenly Father, your word tells us in James 1:5 that if anyone asks for wisdom, you will give it. Today I’m asking for wisdom to make good choices and decisions. Guide my thinking and sharpen my mind.
God, help me to make the right decision. Help me to choose wisely between the options that are set before me. Protect me from clouded judgment and bless me with a sound mind. Protect me from being double minded or unstable during my decision making process.
Lord, please help me to decide. Let all that I do to bring honor to you. In Jesus name, amen.
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. James 1:5
God’s Character Prayer
Dear Lord, as I go about making this decision, help me to remember the character of God. You are my father and you desire good things for me. You want to help me.
Show me how to trust in the character of God, who:
- is faithful to me (1 Corinthians 10:13),
- is patient with me (2 Peter 3:9),
- created all things (Genesis 1:1),
- is more powerful than anyone (Isaiah 40:23),
- gives good things (James 1:17),
- keeps his promises (Numbers 23:19),
- is perfect in all his ways (Psalm 18:30),
- is compassionate, gracious, and righteous (Psalm 116:5).
Just like a father loves his children, you love me. You want to help me make the right decisions. Show me how to be confident as I walk through this decision making process and know that you are with me. In Jesus name, amen.
Humility Prayer
Father, as I go about making this decision, help me to be humble and seek your face continually. Protect me from my own selfish motives. Give me a spirit of humility and graciousness.
Although this is a difficult decision for me, help me to follow Jesus’s example on the cross when he said, “Not my will, but thy will be done.” I don’t want things to be about me – I want them to be about you and your plans and purposes for my life. I want your will to be done.
In 1 Peter 5:6 it says, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.” That is what I’m seeking to do today and throughout this whole process: to humble myself and be completely open to hearing from you. I want to do what pleases you. Make your will known. Help me to see it clearly and obey.
Bless me with a spirit of humility, I pray. In Jesus name, amen.
Essentially, it’s giving God control of everything good and bad in our lives, including our desires, needs, suffering, and grief, and doing so while being grateful.
The more we give gratitude to God no matter what, the more we realize we need Him to guide us through this life if we want to live abundantly. As stated by John 15:5, we are aware of our complete dependence on God.
God’s methods are better, and His plan and purpose for our lives are wonderful, and we come to know this as our connection with Him deepens and we see His hand at work in our lives. To grow closer to God, it’s necessary to talk to Him frequently. In the same way that you could share your joys and worries with your best buddy over lunch. However, we can first turn to God with all of our concerns.
Paul tells the church in Thessalonica that we can grow in our relationship with the Lord if we pray and come to Him with a willing heart.
Understanding Whom we are praying to is the first step toward a deeper relationship with our God. God is a kind and compassionate Father who knows us inside and out, and though we can have a close personal relationship with Him, we must never forget that He is worthy of the highest awe and reverence.
By celebrating God for who He is, we display our awe and reverence for Him (Deuteronomy 13:4). We can use song or acclaim to do this. We can accomplish this by appreciating the natural beauty around us or by taking pleasure in the many gifts God has given us.
Praising God is the gateway to a fruitful prayer life. Don’t miss out on the next breathtaking sunset. Take a time to appreciate the fact that God brought you together with a loved one.
Give God the credit when you accomplish something. Eventually, you will be able to find cause for celebration in the Lord, regardless of your current circumstances, since He has been faithful throughout the good times and the bad.
The gospels show us how God’s plan came to fruition when we met Jesus and learned about His life, His numerous acts of kindness, and His final sacrifice on the cross. That calls for a moment of rest and contemplation, during which we might offer God our most heartfelt gratitude and praise.
