Prayer To Hear From God

Learning to hear from God is so much more than just asking for direction and expecting Him to answer. It involves preparation. “So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world” (1 Peter 1:13). As we consider this verse, let’s spend time this week preparing our hearts and minds to hear from God.

Help me to know Your voice and not be deceived by any other voice. Help me to guard my heart from the influences of this world and the people around me. Help me not to be deceived by the devil and his lies, but to view all thoughts and decisions through the lens of righteousness.

With these prayers we can refocus on our Heavenly Father and learn to hear from Him like never before.

Prayer To Hear From God

God speaks to us in different ways. Sometimes we hear that “still small voice,” gently whispering to us (1 Kings 19:12 NKJV). Sometimes it’s a louder voice, directing our circumstances, “This is the way you should go…” (Isaiah 30:21 NLT) We also hear God as we read His word, which is “alive and powerful” (Hebrews 4:12).

Prayer To Hear Gods Spirit

Day One – A Prayer for Making Time for God
Dear Heavenly Father,

Your Word says I will seek you and find you when I seek you with all my heart (Jeremiah 29:13). I long to hear your voice, Lord. But I know that in order to hear you, I need to spend time with you. Help me to desire your presence more than anything else. More than answers, more than direction, more than blessings. Your presence is a gift, and I will show gratitude for that gift by making time to seek you in prayer each day. Whether it’s for five minutes or an hour, I know you will meet me there.

Father, forgive me for letting my life get so busy that I have forgotten to prioritize our time together. Thank you for the second chance. Thank you also for reminding me of the danger of trying to face life’s challenges in my own strength. Time in your presence brings peace, comfort, and renewed hope.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day Two – A Prayer for Focusing My Mind on God
Day Two – A Prayer for Focusing My Mind on God
Dear Heavenly Father,

Your Word says I can bring my problems to you in prayer and that your peace will guard my heart and my mind (Philippians 4:7). I struggle with this, Lord. I try to stay focused on you when I pray, but so often my mind wanders back to those problems I’ve already prayed about. The cares of the day distract my thoughts. Focusing my mind on you is a difficult task, so I am asking for your help. God, I want to hear your voice. Help me push away distracting thoughts and set my mind on you. Thank you for giving me authority as your child to “take thoughts captive and make them obedient to Christ” (2 Corinthians 10:5). I pray today for the strength and wisdom to continue taking each wayward thought captive and refocusing my mind on you in prayer.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day Three – A Prayer for Understanding What I Read in the Bible
Day Three – A Prayer for Understanding What I Read in the Bible
Dear Heavenly Father,

I understand an important step in hearing from you is discerning what I read in Scripture. I confess that sometimes I don’t understand what I am reading. But you provide confirmation and instruction through related verses, commentaries, and biblical teachings that will help me when I struggle to find the meaning. Lord, you say I can ask for wisdom and that you will give it to me (James 1:5).

I ask for wisdom today to understand the Bible and how it applies to my life. I pray for the teachers and preachers you have equipped to share your Word with others, that I will learn from them with both humility and discernment. And above all, I pray what I learn will open my heart to hearing from you. Thank you for speaking to me through Scripture.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day Four – A Prayer for Getting Rid of the Junk
Day Four – A Prayer for Getting Rid of the Junk
Dear Heavenly Father,

Sometimes I feel so overloaded with problems, responsibilities, and situations weighing me down. Things just keep piling on, and I realize I can’t carry them all. But your Word offers a better way. I don’t have to live with heavy burdens; in fact, you don’t want me to. Romans 15:13 says, “I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him.”

You promise to fill my heart with good things. But I need to be willing to release all the junk first. Lord, forgive me for holding onto things that I need to release. I have been trying to do it all, leaving little room for you to work in my life. Thank you for letting me “cast my cares on you” as I prepare my heart for what you have to say.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day Five – A Prayer for Developing Good Listening Skills
Day Five – A Prayer for Developing Good Listening Skills
Dear Heavenly Father,

So often my time spent in prayer becomes a one-sided conversation. I talk and talk, not giving you a chance to speak. I realize that I haven’t intentionally taken time to listen to you, Lord. I confess my need for real change when it comes to my listening skills. Your Word says we should be “quick to listen” (James 1:19). I want to learn to listen well as I pray. Father, please help me become a better listener. I commit to setting aside time during prayer to just be still and listen. I pray as I embrace those quiet moments, I will hear from you in a fresh new way. I also believe through actively listening to you, I will be able to become a better listener for others. Thank you for reminding me to be still and simply listen.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day Six – A Prayer for Staying Connected to God throughout My Day
Day Six – A Prayer for Staying Connected to God throughout My Day
Dear Heavenly Father,

It’s easy to get caught up in the craziness of daily life and forget about your loving presence. You are here with me, but distractions take my attention away from the Holy Spirit, who offers peace and calm in the midst of the chaos. Lord, in those times when my to-do list seems a mile long, help me stay aware of your presence. I know you will never leave me nor forsake me (Deuteronomy 31:6).

I know I can stay connected with you by offering short, simple prayers anytime. Words like, “Lord I need you” or “I give you praise” will simply redirect my thoughts toward you and help me be aware of your leading. Lord, guide me along your path. When I have you, I don’t need anything else. Thank you for the gift of being with me at all times.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Day Seven – A Prayer for Letting Go of Expected Answers
Day Seven – A Prayer for Letting Go of Expected Answers
Dear Heavenly Father,

I confess there have been times when I thought I knew best. I trusted my own wants and desires over your will. I have even been guilty of taking my problems to you in prayer but expecting you to answer a certain way or at a specific time. And when you didn’t answer according to my expectations, I became discouraged. Forgive me Lord, for not trusting you in all things.

As I prepare to hear from you, I will let go of my expectations and allow you to work according to your will and your ways. Your Word says, “We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps” (Proverbs 16:9). I want your will to be done, not mine. Let my wants align with your will, Lord. I know I won’t be able to hear from you if I am focused on my own desired outcome or timing. I release my expectations and thank you for speaking into my life—in your way, at your time, and for your purpose.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Psalms To Hear From God

Abba Father, I thank you for the love that you’ve displayed in my life. You are a good Father and I submit to your word, your way, and guidance. I ask that you would open my ears Abba. I desire to hear your thoughts. I desire to understand how you love us so much that you’d send your son to die for us. In our lowest moments, you see the innermost parts of our being and you still call us beautiful. Father, I desire to have love that is as deep and wide as yours. O’ Lord, show me the things that are unseen and only capable of being seen with spiritual eyes. Give me a heart that beats for the people around me. And father, would you please purify my heart, so I can hear you clearly and refrain from defiling your word.

I know that it is my divine inheritance to be close with you and be led by your voice. O’ Lord, I ask for deeper insight into the bible, so I can hear you at all times. I thank you God that you gave us your word, so that I don’t ever have to be confused about your truth, your way, and your character. You are a GOOD God that never forsakes his children. You said if we seek you then we shall find you. So, I declare your words to be true because you are the promise keeper that never goes back on your word. Abba, I ask for divine revelation and strategy to partner with you to bring your Kingdom to earth. I desire to take my place in changing the world and bringing every worldly atmosphere under your love, forgiveness, repentance, and power.

I thank you that you are imparting more spiritual treasures within me as we speak. Thank you God for an increase in faith as I hear your biblical promises. Thank you God for divine courage as I stand on your word. And thank you God for the fruits of the spirit within me that are becoming more and more mature. Thank you father that I get to be a living testimony of your goodness. Thank you for leading me with your precious voice into truth and righteousness. You never let go of me God and I love it because I desire to stay close to you all the days of my life papa. Amen.

Prayer to Discern God’s Voice
O’ Lord, thank you for sending your son to die for my sins and giving me the Holy Spirit to lead me into righteousness. I pray that you would help me to be more Holy each day. I want to honor you O’ God with my life, words, body, career, thoughts, and love. Please help me to be committed to the work of the Gospel and release my selfish desires for things that only please my flesh. Father please increase my discernment, so that I can know when I’m walking in the opposite direction of righteousness. Help me to discern whether I’m operating in love or hate, humility or pride, and strength or un-forgiveness. Your word said the heart is desperately wicked and only you know its depths. So cleanse me with your truth Abba. You are Jehovah M’kaddesh the God that sanctifies and I trust that you will cleanse your children of sin.

Help me to see your eternal perspective and to be zealous about bringing your lost sheep into your Kingdom. Lastly, I ask to hear your voice and direction in my life Abba. Guide me, teach me, and counsel me O’ Lord. And help me to know and discern your will and voice about everything that concerns your heart. I want to weep for what you weep for. And I want to rejoice about what you deem worthy. I desire our hearts to beat in sync God. I’m blessed to be grafted into your love and adopted into your Holy lineage. Because of the blood of Christ, it is my portion to hear all my father is doing because we are friends. I rejoice because such a holy and powerful God would consider me a friend and share his secrets with me. I am blessed. I love you Abba. Amen.

Prayer to Hear God’s Guidance
O’ Lord, I am in need of your guidance and direction. You said your word would be a lamp to my feet. You promised that you would show me which way to walk. And you promised that the spirit of truth would come and guide me into holiness and your divine path. So I declare your word to be true Abba. I declare that you are the promise keeper that never goes back on your word. I ask to hear your voice so clearly on the next steps and decisions that I need to make. I trust that you will speak father and when you do I wont hesitate to walk in the direction you choose. Steady my heart father, so I can remain confident in your goodness despite any disappointments or obstacles that I may encounter on this journey. I know you are good and you withhold no good thing from me. I will mediate on your words day and night Lord. I will wait on you because I know you don’t put the righteous to shame. I will trust that you will protect me from bad relationships, wolves in sheep clothings, unGodly council, and false prophets that seek to corrupt your word and cause me to stumble. O’ how I love you father. I love how you love me. And I ask for a heart that can choose you all the days of my life. Amen.

Prayer to Hear God’s Plan for Earth
Abba father, I ask that your kingdom would come, and your will would be done, on earth as it is in heaven. I ask that the saints and myself would find it vital to consume your daily bread. I acknowledge that your words, your love, and your leading is the most potent part of the day. I ask that I wouldn’t get spiritually malnourished by forgetting to consume the meat of the word, the body of Christ, and the blood of Jesus. I want to walk in daily remembrance that Christ died and defeated the work of Satan in my life and in this world. O’ Lord, I declare a generation that is free from the shackles of Satan and that boldly embrace the work of Christ. I release forgiveness, physical healing, mercy, patience, kindness, sober minds, long suffering, perseverance, and righteous love across this globe.

I can see your army rising up to take their place on earth. I thank you Abba that every demonic stronghold is being lifted off the saints as we speak. I thank you that I can hear your plans more clearly. I thank you that the Saints are being awakened to your plans as well. O’ Lord, I thank you that I get to partner with you to drive back the enemies’ plan and declare your victory on this earth. Teach me O’ Lord, show me your plans to turn what the enemy meant for evil to good. I ask for supernatural sight to see how you will restore all that the enemy tried to steal. I believe in your mighty power God. I am confident you are God and you have given me authority to trample on spiritual darkness. Thank you father for letting me into your battle plan. I love you Abba. Amen.
