Amid the recent global turmoil, let us pray for the people of the world to have peace and health. While we pray for the world, remember that our true salvation comes from God through Jesus Christ.
“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)
The continuity of our relationship with God is facilitated by our prayer life.
When we pray, we allow God to do His work in and through us because we are making ourselves vulnerable to Him. Praying also strengthens our connection to God.
We learn more about a person through conversation and interaction. The same process takes place when we talk to God in prayer. Spending more time in conversation with Him is the surest way to become closer to Him.
As it says in James 4:8, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you” (NKJV).
Prayer To Heal The World
Many times in my own life, I have experienced the peace that passes all understanding when I have drawn near to God in prayer.
Praying helps me center my thoughts on what’s most important. Praying gives us a divine perspective on life and is therefore crucial. A member of my youth group passed away suddenly. Finding effective ways to love and minister to our wounded students has been challenging. The power of prayer has sustained me through this difficult period. It has helped me communicate with God, hear His voice, and experience His presence while I grieve alongside my church and community.
Be worried about nothing, but in everything, through prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (NKJV).
Praying puts us in a position to experience God’s peace, which is beyond our comprehension. Prayer keeps my mind on the things that are dear to God, both in the happy times and the bad.
Short Prayer For The World
Almighty God, you are the only source of health and healing. In you there is calm, and the only true peace in the universe. Grant to each one of us your children an awareness of your presence, and give us perfect confidence in you.
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” (1 John 2:15)
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” (John 14:27)
Jesus Prays for the World
Jesus Prays for His Disciples ~ John 17:6-19
6 “I have revealed you to those whom you gave me out of the world. They were yours; you gave them to me and they have obeyed your word. 7 Now they know that everything you have given me comes from you. 8 For I gave them the words you gave me and they accepted them. They knew with certainty that I came from you, and they believed that you sent me. 9 I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. 10 All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. 11 I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one. 12 While I was with them, I protected them and kept them safe by that name you gave me. None has been lost except the one doomed to destruction so that Scripture would be fulfilled. 13 “I am coming to you now, but I say these things while I am still in the world, so that they may have the full measure of my joy within them. 14 I have given them your word and the world has hated them, for they are not of the world any more than I am of the world. 15 My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of it. 17 Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. 18 As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
Jesus Prays for All Believers ~ John 17:20-26
20 “My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one— 23 I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity. Then the world will know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me. 24 “Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world. 25 “Righteous Father, though the world does not know you, I know you, and they know that you have sent me. 26 I have made you known to them, and will continue to make you known in order that the love you have for me may be in them and that I myself may be in them.”
A Prayer for the World to Come to Christ
“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age.” (Titus 2:11-12)
Father,
Creation sings of Your majesty. Created in Your image, we are a direct reflection of You. Every good thing comes from You. Every note of love and goodness we feel and extend is rooted in Your great love for us. Whether we know Jesus yet or not, we know love. We all know what it feels like to love and be loved. It is this commonality that supplies the empathy we need to see each other for the people You created us to be. Help us to find the good in every person You place in our lives and on our paths, Father. You are not a God of coincidence.
You watch over us, encourage us, and love us perfectly. You are faithful to hear us and answer our prayers. You are close to the brokenhearted. Father, we are in awe of how you orchestrate the days of our lives and the individual love You have for each of us and our purposes. We are all unique, every person, and it brings You joy when we recognize each other for the people we are in You. Love leads us to love others for You. The Great Commission, to spread the gospel, starts with love.
“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)
Father, today we pray for every soul on earth to embrace Jesus Christ. His selflessness is reflected in our lives when we follow Him in faith, allowing others to catch a glimpse of who He is. We pray to be good representatives of love on earth, Father. Give us the courage to live our faith boldly and consistently. Clean hypocrisy out of our hearts and wipe away prejudice and favoritism. Give us strength and sight. Help us to look at each other through the lens of love.
It is in this way God’s alive and active Word will travel to every far corner of the earth. All will have a chance to hear the gospel, and we praise You for that! Bless this world and bring the hope of Jesus into every corner of every heart. Just knowing who You are is not enough. Telling of You is not enough. Help us to live boldly and selflessly, to model love accurately and completely, to anyone and everyone.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Urgent Prayer For Healing
The one thing we can do is pray. Prayer is powerful. Chris Rappazini writes in the Today in the Word devotional, “Even though it may take years to see an answer, you can be assured that your prayers are being heard.” God hears your prayers; and it is important that you pray. But where do you start? Here are a few prayers to help you begin:
A Prayer for the Lost: Dear God, I pray for a world that doesn’t know you. I pray for those who are lost. God show yourself to those who don’t believe. Allow me to be a source of your light to those who need you. Help me to lead people to you. Help me tell others about you and have the words they need to hear. I pray for the loss that if not by me, something or someone else will intervene in their life and direct them to you. I pray for divine appointments all across the world today. God, I pray for the world to know you. In Jesus’ name, Amen. (Read: 1 Timothy 2:1–7)
A Prayer for Physical Illness: Dear God, I pray for the sickness in our world. I pray for those suffering from COVID-19. I pray for those suffering from cancer. I pray for those suffering from heart disease. I pray for those suffering from any form of sickness or ailment. If it is your will, I pray that you heal them, Lord. I ask that you be with them, comfort them, and provide them with peace. Be with their families that are struggling as they watch their loved ones suffer. Provide them with love and a sense of hope. God, I pray you heal our world. In Jesus’ name, Amen. (Read: James 5:13–15)
A Prayer for Mental Illness: Dear God, I come to you with a heavy heart. I pray for those battling mental illness. I pray you give them strength to keep fighting. I pray they know that they are loved, wanted, and valued. I ask that you bring a community around them that is godly, loving, and understanding. I pray that they are able to get the help they need. Provide them with the right tools to begin healing. God, I pray for their families whose heart aches for their loved ones who are suffering. Give them the strength to keep fighting too. Be with those who are suffering and let them know that you are there. In Jesus’ name, Amen. (Read: Ephesians 6:16-20)
A Prayer for Justice: Dear God, You are a God of justice. You care for those who are oppressed. You love those who are marginalized. I pray for justice and redemption in this world. Help me to know what is wrong and what is right. Help this world to know what is wrong and what is right. Provide peace and hope to those who are suffering from injustice. Show them that you are there, and you care for them and that you will make all things right. God, I pray for a world full of love and compassion. In Jesus’ name, Amen. (Read: Proverbs 21:15)
A Prayer for Poverty: Dear God, So many people are suffering from poverty. God, I pray for those today who are experiencing financial needs. I pray for those who don’t have enough food to feed themselves or their families. I pray for those who don’t have enough money for healthcare or medicine. I pray for those who don’t have a home, or who have recently just lost their home. God, I pray that you will provide for these needs. Short Prayer For The World
A Prayer for the Fallen World We Live In
“Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” (1 John 2:15)
Father,
The state of our world convicts us and causes us to cling to You for dear life. The volatile history of mankind’s fallen nature is recorded in Scripture. Human history is scarred. The deplorable conditions of our world continue to increase.
Bless and heal the world, Father. Come, Lord Jesus. May Your love comfort every soul as only You can. Bring hope to the hopeless and unity where there is conflict.
Motivate us by love to work together, gathering souls for Christ. Show us our place, Father, and embolden us to obey Your direction. While our world is crumbling, You remain the same loving, defending, and protecting Father. Amidst the rebellion and destruction, You reached down to restore us to the light of Your presence through Jesus.
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” (John 14:27)
Light pierces the darkness. We do not have to succumb to the doom-and-gloom reality of our society because we have the power of the living God in us through salvation in Jesus Christ. Your love forges a path for us, illuminating the way and adjusting our perspective to see past destruction to hope.
You are a personal, saving God, creating each of us with a purpose, allowing us to feel Your love and extend it to others. May Your love rule our hearts, because all life flows through it.
Forgive us for allowing the ways of the world to overwhelm us. Help us to be a consistent source of light for all those around us.
You see us, God. You hear us. You are good and You are fair. Prepare our hearts, Lord who goes before us. Repair our wreckage, God of our memories. Bless and empower us with Spirit-fueled confidence, Lord of our hearts. May all we do bring glory and honor to You—as shards of light piercing the darkness.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
A Prayer for People All over the World to Come to Christ
“For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people, training us to renounce ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in the present age.” (Titus 2:11-12)

A Prayer for Stewardship over Our Earthly Gifts
“For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor. No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly.” (Psalm 84:11)
Father,
We praise You for Your provision, and for propelling us into our callings by unveiling our strengths and weaknesses. Help us to listen, learn, and seek You in all we do, for we desire to steward our gifts well.
Every good gift comes from You, Father. Let us not look to the right or to the left but upwards to You and through Your perspective of love. Protect us from idols and remain seated on the throne of our hearts. All good things we do flow from You and Your Love.
Father, in this insane world You have a good plan for us. Help us to remain calm on days that don’t line up with our plans. Forgive us, for we fail so often to submit them to You and run great risk of following the ways of the world.
Daily, protect us from distancing ourselves from Your voice. May we be stirred to seek You first and listen to Your wise leading on our lives. We are built to crave You, Father. It’s Your presence that drives us, whether we realize it or not. We want more of You. This world is not our permanent home, for we are citizens of heaven.
Remind us, in moments of frailty and desperation or lack of confidence, that You hold us in the palm of Your hand. You are unchanging, and we can overcome the world when we put on the armor of God.
“…‘Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.’” (Mark 16:15)
May everything we do lead us one step closer to You. Let the witness of our lives lead others to Jesus. Heal us, Father.
This world is hard, but not impossible with You. May we bear witness to many miracles in our lives and sing of the glory each brings to You. Let us honor You with our gifts, loving the people You place in our lives. Help us to submit to You and work diligently for You. Bless our lives with truth and love. Lead us and be with us.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
