You NEED to pray for your pastor.
Pastoral ministry is a business unlike any other. It is a dangerous business. A sacred business. A business where the souls of people are at stake.
I was a pastor for many years, so I have a feel for the perils and pleasures of ministry. It’s very hard, supremely rewarding work.
Gardiner Spring said:
It is at a fearful expense that ministers are ever allowed to enter the pulpit without being preceded, accompanied, and followed by the earnest prayers of the churches. It is no marvel that the pulpit is so powerless, and ministers so often disheartened when there are so few to hold up their hands…When the churches cease to pray for ministers, ministers will no longer be a blessing to the churches.
Prayer for pastor healing
Dear God,
We ask that you heal our pastor. We pray that he will be able to return to work soon with his health restored. We know that you have great plans for him, and we trust in your wisdom and love for him. Please help him through this difficult time, and bring him back to us soon so that he may continue to do the good work you have called him to do.
Amen.
Lord, we come before you in prayer today as we pray for the healing and restoration of Pastor [name].
We know that you are a God who heals and restores, and we want to praise your name for the many ways you have worked to bring healing to Pastor [name] in the past.
We ask that you would continue to heal him physically, emotionally and spiritually. We ask that you would give him peace and comfort now that he is sick. We ask that you would restore his health so that he can continue to share his love with others. We ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
As we pray for our pastor, let us remember that the Lord is a healer.
We know that our pastor is suffering from depression and anxiety. We also believe that by sending our prayers and love to him, we can help him heal.
Lord, we ask that you would minister to [pastor’s name] today in the form of healing. We pray that you would help him to find peace and hope in your love as he works through this struggle.
We pray that you would give him strength to deal with his illness, so that he may lead us effectively as our shepherd.
In Jesus’ name we pray, amen
Dear Lord,
I pray for Pastor [name], who is suffering from a severe illness. Please heal him and help him to recover. I also pray that his family will be able to provide him with the care he needs in order to recover. May the Lord bless them with your love and compassion, Father.
God, we come here today to pray for our pastor. We know that he is a man of faith and that he has been through a lot in his life. We also know that he is still young and full of potential, and we want to see him grow into those ambitions.
We ask that you guide him in his decision-making process, and help him to understand your will for his life. We ask that you give him the strength and courage to make decisions that align with your will, even when those decisions are hard or unpopular.
Please heal our pastor spiritually, emotionally, physically and mentally as he works through these issues in his life. Give him restful sleep so that he can re-energize himself during the day so he can continue to serve you well as a leader in this church community.
Give us strength during this time as we support our pastor through this difficult time. Help us be encouraging but not judgmental towards those around us who may have different opinions on how best to move forward after such an event has occurred within their leadership team at work.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen
Lord, we know that you are the healer of all things. We ask that you would heal our pastor, [name], of his chronic fatigue and anxiety. We know that it’s not always easy for us to see what is happening in someone else’s life, but we are asking for your help so that we can see the bigger picture. Please guide us when we need to step in and offer support, or when we should let them go through their healing process alone.
Help us all to be better listeners, so that we can hear what others need from us and give them the space they need to heal physically or emotionally. Let us remember that not everything can be fixed with a simple prayer or blessing; let us also remember that healing takes time and effort on behalf of both parties involved in any given situation.
Help us all learn how to be there for each other without trying to fix anyone else’s problems; let us learn how to listen without judging or criticizing; let us learn how to love without controlling or manipulating those around us. Thank you for our pastors who serve selflessly every day, even when they don’t feel like they’re up for it—thank you for giving them strength when they need it most!
Dear God,
We ask that you heal Pastor [name] of the church we all love so dearly. We know that you are a healer, and we believe in your power to heal. We pray that Pastor [name] will be able to return to work soon so he can continue to lead us in our spiritual growth.
We also ask that you lead us in a time of healing for ourselves and for our community. Please give us the strength and courage to do what is right, even when it’s hard or uncomfortable. Give us peace in the midst of chaos and help us remember that you are always with us—even when it doesn’t seem like it.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Prayer For Healing And Strength
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy” ~ Psalm 103:2-4
About a year ago, I sat in an office where an oncologist told my husband after three battles with cancer that sometimes you just have to have faith. I sat there and thought about how the burden of healing sickness is never on the patient, how it is never even on a doctor, but how it is always, always, on God.
The burden of healing falls on my God who knows the plans he has for me even when my own hopes collapse around me. The burden of healing lies in my God whose ways aren’t a faith formula, but a mystery. The burden of healing doesn’t lie in saying just the right words or praying something that sounds beautiful. And I don’t know about you but that frees me up to pray a little more boldly for God to heal.
If you or your loved ones are sick and in need of healing, whether physical, spiritual, or emotional healing, here are prayers you can pray for them today:
Prayer For Healing For A Family Member
Lord Jesus, thank you that you love [name of the person who needs healing]. I know that you hate what their illness is doing to them/me. I ask, in the name of Jesus, that you would heal this disease, that you would have compassion and bring healing from all sickness.
Your word says in Psalm 107:19-20 that when we call out to you the Eternal one you will give the order, heal and rescue us from certain death. In the Bible, I have read of miraculous healing and I believe that you still heal the same way today. I believe that there is no illness you cannot heal after all the bible tells of you raising people from the dead so I ask for your healing in this situation.
I also know from my experience of life on earth that not everyone is healed if that happens here then keep my heart soft towards you, help me to understand your plan, and help me to be excited about heaven.
Lord Jesus, thank you that our hope for healing is in you. If there are doctors or treatments that you would want to use to heal this disease I pray that you would guide [name of the person who needs healing] to them. I ask for wisdom and discernment about which treatments to pursue.
God, I thank you that [name of the person who needs healing] belongs to you and that you are in control of everything that happens from our first breath to our last sigh.
Amen.
May this prayer for the sick guide your thoughts and communication with the Lord! Remember that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us when we do not know what to say. God knows your heart!
To Heal Pain and Suffering
I ask for your healing over every part of my life – physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. I ask that you’d make me strong and resilient for the days ahead. I know that you have a great purpose for those who believe in your name.
Help me not to allow the distractions and struggles of my days to weigh me down to the point of exhaustion. I know that your desire is for me to live this life abundantly and free. And my greatest desire is to reflect your love and light to a world that so desperately needs your hope.
For those I love who are facing cancer or a hard diagnosis, I pray for your covering of healing and grace. I pray for your strength and your great peace to fill their lives, reminding them that you are close. Thank you that nothing is impossible with you. Thank you that you’re fighting for us and you are bigger than anything this world throws our way.
I lean fully on you Lord, for You alone are able. I love you; I need you this day, and always.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen. (Debbie McDaniel)
Prayer for Health and Healing
Almighty God,
you are the only source of health and healing.
In you there is calm,
and the only true peace in the universe.
Grant to each one of us your children
an awareness of your presence,
and give us perfect confidence in you.
In all pain and weariness and anxiety
teach us to yield ourselves to your never failing care,
knowing that your love and power surround us,
trusting in your wisdom and providence
to give us health and strength and peace
when your time is best;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Prayer for the Sick: Health of Mind and Body
Almighty God,
you know that we are surrounded by many great dangers,
and because of our human frailty
we cannot withstand them.
Give us health of mind and body
so that we who suffer under sin
may overcome and win the victory in you;
through your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and forever. Amen.
Failures, Successes, Healing
Lord, I commit my failures as well as my successes into your hands, and I bring for your healing the people and the situations, the wrongs and the hurts of the past.
Give me courage, strength, and generosity to let go and move on, leaving the past behind me, and living the present to the full.
Lead me always to be positive as I ‘entrust the past to your mercy, the present to your love, and the future to your providence’.
Prayer for Healing of Someone Hospitalized
Gracious Father, all health and healing are gifts from your hand. We pray for [Name], give his doctors and nurses the wisdom and skill as they work for his healing*.
While he waits and faces many unknowns, calm all doubts and fears with the Word of your promise that nothing can separate us from your love that is ours in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:39).
Speed [Name]’s healing if it is your will, and give him an extra measure of patience as he waits for you to work all these things for his good (Romans 8:28); through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
