Line Of Jesus In The Bible

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in darkness, but the darkness has not understood it. There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. For he himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, yet the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God; who were born not of blood nor of flesh nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but of God. In this article you’ll see Jesus lineage to David.

“Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.’ (John 6:35)

Jesus said to them, ‘I am the living bread that came down from heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.'” (John 6:51). You’ll also more on genealogy of Jesus explained in this article.

Line Of Jesus In The Bible

The linage of Jesus needs to be traced in the Bible. What is the lineage of Jesus? Where is the lineage of Christ in the Bible? Why do we need to find Jesus’s lineage in the Bible? Here are some things you’ll probably want to know:

lineage of Jesus in Luke

Jesus’ lineage is traced to David through King Solomon, who was the son of King David and Bathsheba. The following is Luke’s genealogy of Jesus Christ:

  • Luke 3:23-38
  • Matthew 1:1-16

Jesus lineage to David

Jesus is the descendant of Adam and Eve, who are descendants of Noah. Jesus’ lineage then goes back to Abraham, who was the son of Terah, who was the son of Nahor (Terah’s brother). Next we go through Esau, Jacob and Judah before coming to David. All of these men were descended from Shem, one of Noah’s three sons.

Jesus is also a descendant through Mary as well because she came from Levi (Moses’ brother) which makes her related to Aaron (Levi’s brother). This is how Jesus has two lines he can trace his lineage through: that being Joseph or Mary’s family lines!

Jesus lineage goes back to Abraham

One of the most important things to know about your heritage is where you got it from. It’s true for humans, but it’s also true for Christ. Jesus’ lineage goes back through David and Abraham. He was a descendant of Adam and Eve. As such, his bloodline was pure according to God’s standards because he never had any ancestors who were descended from Cain or Ham (Genesis 3:15).

Genealogy Of Jesus Explained

Numerous Old Testament prophecies predicted Jesus’ birth and its subsequent events. From the house of Abraham, Isaac, Judah, and David comes the promised messiah. New Testament prophecies were fulfilled, and Jesus’ family tree can be traced back through Matthew 1:1–16 and Luke 3:23–38.

And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ” (Matthew 1:16). Matthew began Jesus’ lineage with Abraham and listed each father in 41 generations. Joseph was a direct descendant of David through Solomon. Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, and Bathsheba make up four of the five women included in Matthew’s genealogy. The only reference to Bathsheba in the list is that she was Uriah’s wife, rather than by name.

Beginning with Jesus, son of Joseph, the genealogy in Luke 3 traces his ancestry all the way back to Adam, the first son of God. There are 77 generations documented in the book. Although Joseph’s name appears in Luke’s genealogy, Mary’s family tree is being discussed here. And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli,” Luke 3:23. Luke lists Joseph as the son of Heli rather than Mary because he was the head of the household at the time. Since David’s son Nathan was her ancestor, Mary was also a member of the house and lineage of David.

From Abraham to David, the names in Joseph’s and Mary’s family trees are identical.

Joseph and Mary were third cousins once removed. That the Messiah would come from the house and lineage of King David was a promise kept by each of these men. Jesus’ bloodline from Mary gave him legal claim to the throne of King David, but his lineage from Joseph gave him legal claim to the kingdom.

Keep in mind the names listed on the Bethlehem census from the time of Jesus’ birth. They saw miracles happen before their very eyes. Did the census only include adult males? Were women and children tallied in the census but not identified by name? Did they count Jesus, who was born a baby, in the count?

Remember the prophecies, genealogies, and miracles that pointed to Jesus’ birth as the Messiah, more than two thousand years later, on this Christmas Day. Have fun with loved ones and treat others kindly. Get started looking so you can document your family tree. The merriest of Christmases and happiest of New Years to you!

There was no room for them at the inn, so Mary gave birth to her first child, wrapping him in swaddling clothes and placing him in a manger.
