Today, I’d like to talk about what it means to be a Christian.
Now, I know that sounds like something you already know—but I think we all need to stop and think about what it really means. And I’m not talking about your relationship with God, or whether or not you’re saved—I’m talking about the way you live your life.
The Bible says that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (Romans 10:9). But here’s the thing: that’s just the start of it! The Bible also says that if you believe in Christ with all your heart, then you’re also supposed to repent of your sins and turn away from evil (Acts 3:19). And if you do those things, then God promises He’ll give you eternal life. So how do we do those things? What does it look like?

Well… just like anything else in life, it takes practice! You can’t just read about how to ride a bike and expect to get good at it overnight—you have to keep trying until eventually everything clicks into place and suddenly everything makes sense. The same goes for Christianity.
- You will never be able to please God without the Holy Spirit
- Without the Holy Spirit we can’t hear God’s voice or know His will for us
- Without the Holy Spirit we cannot obey God’s commands or keep His commandments or do what pleases Him (Romans 8:8)
- Jesus said “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15) and “He who has My commandments and keeps them is he who loves Me; and he who loves Me shall be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him” (John 14:21). So if you love Jesus then obey Him!
