J names in the bible

Introduction

We all like to find meaning in our lives. Most of us do this by creating meaning, but others look for it in anything that can be found around us. A perfect example is looking to the Bible for inspiration and finding meaning in the names listed there. We have compiled a list of some of the more popular male names in the Bible you may want to consider using if you are naming your son.

Jairus

The story of Jairus is in two parts: Matthew 9:18-26 and Luke 8:40-56. Both are about a ruler of the synagogue who was also the father of a little girl. He fell at Jesus’ feet and begged him to come to his house because his daughter was dying. When they arrived, the 12-year old girl was dead. However, when they were all washing their hands before eating bread together, she came back to life again! The whole town heard about this miracle so they sent for Jesus again because there were many other sick people too who needed help from him (Luke 8:57).

Jabal

Jabal was a son of Lamech and Adah, and a grandson of Adam in the Bible. He is the brother of Jubal, the father of all who play the harp and flute. Jabal fathered those who dwell in tents and raise cattle.

Jacob

Jacob was the son of Isaac and Rebecca, the father of the twelve tribes of Israel and grandfather of many other people.

A great-grandson of Noah, Jacob is also known as Israel, or “one who strives with God.”

Jacob had 12 sons who became the leaders of his 12 tribes: Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali (or Naftali), Gad, Asher and Issachar in order from oldest to youngest. Joseph was considered a special son because he received special treatment from his father; this led to jealousy from his brothers which resulted in a plot to kill him but instead resulted in Joseph being sold into slavery by them while they were on their way back home after getting food for their hungry families.

Jaddua

Jaddua was a high priest in the time of Alexander the Great. He was a good leader, and he led Israel well. He set an example for others to follow and did not lead them in the wrong way. Jaddua also served as priest for many years, so he knew what it meant to serve God faithfully.
