When we approach the Lord with humility, it shows in how we live our daily lives. Being humble is frequently thinking of others before oneself, not of oneself. It is actually living in such a way as to avoid hubris or narcissism in order to serve the Lord and properly serve others. It is not self-deprecating or mocking. Today, let’s use these prayers for humility to position our hearts for blessings and opportunities to be blessings.
Lord, help me to have a humble heart.
We fervently hope for a humble heart. Humility in which we acknowledge that we are not only here for our own benefit but also for a greater good, without devaluing our own worth or value. We ask that You show us what it really means to live a humble life and that Your Light will show us how valuable we are. Only then will we be able to fully live in freedom and in good standing because we will appropriately respect ourselves. We invite You to shape and protect our hearts in genuine humility through Your example, Lord.

Short Prayer for Humility
God, I let other people’s opinions of me influence me much too much. I constantly try to appear to be either wealthier, wiser, or nicer than I actually am. Please don’t let me try to get your attention. Don’t let me take pride in compliments or become disheartened by criticism. Nor let me waste time conjuring up fictitious scenarios where I’m the most valiant, endearing, or clever person in attendance. Teach me to have a modest heart like you.
God, I am far too often influenced by what others think of me. I am always pretending to be either richer or smarter or nicer than I really am. Please prevent me from trying to attract attention. Don’t let me gloat over praise on one hand or be discouraged by criticism on the other. Nor let me waste time weaving imaginary situations in which the most heroic, charming, witty person present is myself. Show me how to be humble of heart, like you.

Prayer for Humility
Let me have too deep a sense of humor to be proud.
Let me know my absurdity before I act absurdly.
Let me realize that when I am humble I am most human,
most truthful,
and most worthy of your serious consideration.
Lord,
We pray for the heart position of humility. Humility in such a way that we do not cheapen our own worth or value within, but that we take the alignment that we are here for a greater purpose than just our own gain. We pray that You will highlight to us what it truly means to live a humble life, and that our own worth will be revealed by Your Light. It is only then that we may truly live in freedom and right standing, for we will hold our own value correctly. Lord, we welcome You to mold and secure our hearts in true humility by Your lead.

Why Is Humility Important?
Humility is important because it sets things in proper order and perspective. The enemy would have us thrown into arrogance and pride, which skews the lens in which we see the world and how we would see others. God wants better for us. It is when we clothe ourselves in humility that our hearts can see things clearly. We recognize that we are not above anyone, rather, we are all unique children of God, equal in His sight. Humility also blesses us to walk in true freedom, no longer weighed down by the weight of competition. It is in seeking a humble spirit that we can walk to be a blessing to others, a blessing to the Kingdom, and to be open to being blessed in return.
Part of following Christ is humbling one’s self. The Lord Himself humbled Himself as a human to walk among us, so if we are to truly follow His lead, humility becomes part of our own walk. Becoming humble allows for us to have open hearts and minds to move and be moved by the Spirit of God. Walk humbly, love mercy, and seek His heart this day.
