Gilgal In The Bible

  • by

In Hebrew, the term “wheel” or “circle” is called “galgal.” It is used to characterize the spherical towns the Israelites constructed under the reigns of Joshua and Judges. These towns were constructed on hills, had walls that completely encircled them, and had gates that let people in and out but made it difficult for anyone else to enter as part of a strategy to make them more difficult for opponents to conquer.

Joshua 4:19 states that the Israelites camped in Gilgal “on the eastern frontier of Jericho” just after crossing the Jordan River. They put 12 stones there as a monument to the river’s miraculous stopping when they crossed.

You have access to a wealth of useful information about the 12 stones still there at Gilgal, how to pronounce Gilgal in the Bible, and much more right here on Churchgists. Spend some time looking through our collection for more details on related subjects.

Spiritual Meaning Of Gilgal In The Bible

The bible is the only book that can make a man complete. It contains God’s words, laws and commands for mankind. It is the instruction manual for man’s life on earth. The book of Joshua chapter 4 describes how God commanded Joshua to set apart 12 men from among the children of Israel to take 12 stones from out of Jordan and build a memorial at Gilgal as a testimony to what God has done (verses 1-9). This shows that there are lessons we can learn from this commandment and apply them in our lives today.

1. Gilgal is a place of Restoration

  • Gilgal is a place of restoration of the people to God.
  • Gilgal is a place of restoration of the people to each other.
  • Gilgal is a place of restoration of the people to the land.

2. Gilgal is a place of Remembrance

Gilgal is a place of Remembrance. It’s a place where we can remember how God has faithfully and faithfully walked with us, and it’s also a reminder of His goodness, mercy and love.

3. Gilgal is a place of Discipline

Gilgal is a place of discipline. Discipline is not something that we look forward to, but it is necessary for restoration and reformation. Discipline also helps us remember past events so that they may be repeated in the future.

In our journey with God, discipline plays a major part in how He restores us and makes us whole again. We become disciplined through trials, tests and tribulations which help us learn new things about ourselves or others around us; but most importantly we grow closer to God as we continue on this journey called life!

4. Gilgal is a place of Reformation

The first thing we notice about Gilgal is that it is a place of reformation. In the Bible, reformation is often used in reference to spiritual change or conversion (Acts 9:18). When something converts, it changes from one form or direction to another—in other words, from bad to good or vice versa. We see this concept illustrated in the story of Saul and David. At first, Saul was very much against David and wanted him killed because he thought he would be a threat to the throne; however, after Saul became king and had time to reflect on what he had done wrong before being elected as ruler over Israel, his heart changed toward David (1 Samuel 26-28). He even declared his love for him at one point! This example shows us how easy it can be for us humans who are not perfect human beings (yet) like King Saul was during those days with all these emotions running through our minds all day long while still trying not let ourselves get too stressed out by them either lol

5. Gilgal is a place of Faith and Obedience

If you are a Christian, then you know that faith is essential to the Christian walk.

The book of Hebrews tells us that faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. We don’t see God but we believe in Him because He has revealed Himself to us through His Word and through His Son Jesus Christ (Hebrews 11:1). Faith is essential to living a life pleasing to God and becoming more like our Savior Jesus Christ (James 2:26).

6. Gilgal is a place of victory over spiritual enemies and giants in our lives

  • You can overcome giants in your life.
  • You can overcome spiritual enemies.
  • You can overcome the enemy of your soul.
  • You can overcome the enemy of your mind.
  • You can overcome the enemy of your body.
  • You can overcome the enemy of your finances

7. Gilgal is a place of unity, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost

Gilgal is a place where you can find unity, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost. What does that mean?

  • Unity in the body of Christ. With God’s help we have to learn how to function as one body so there will be no divisions or factions within our fellowship. This is what Paul was talking about when he said “I beseech you therefore brethren by the mercies of God that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice holy acceptable unto God which is your reasonable service.” If we are going to be unified in this purpose then we must all agree with each other on what it means for us as Christians and how we should conduct ourselves before our Father’s throne of grace.
  • Peace with God through Jesus Christ (Romans 5:1). This means having confidence in His ability to give us victory over every enemy that comes against us because He has already defeated them all! Galatians 5:22-23 tells us not only do we have peace with Him but also peace among ourselves as well! We need each other too much so let’s stop fighting amongst ourselves!

The lessons from the gilgal experience are to be expected in every Christians life in order to know God’s will and purpose for that person’s life

The lessons from the gilgal experience are to be expected in every Christians life in order to know God’s will and purpose for that person’s life. The Bible says, “My ways are not your ways, nor are my thoughts your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8). It is good to remember this when facing challenging situations or obstacles in our lives. When we understand where we are going, it will help us get through any difficult situation we encounter along the way.

The Lord has a plan for each one of us and when we allow him to lead us through difficult times, he will take care of all things necessary on his part so that He can accomplish His purpose for us!

Conclusion

I believe that, for all of us, this place will become a place where life changing decisions are made in our walk with Jesus Christ. A place where we are making the most important choices, choosing to follow Jesus or not. The time has come when we have no choice but to choose whom we will serve and it must be God and His Son Jesus Christ. We must be people who have practical faith and obedience to God’s word. We must learn the value of serving others in love with a repentant heart that is set on doing His will by obeying Him in all things.
