Different Names Of Jesus In The Bible

  • by

If you’ve ever been to church, you’ve probably heard the name Jesus. But have you ever wondered what that name means? According to the Bible, there are several different names of Jesus. And they all mean something different.

For example, if someone wants to call on him while they’re in need, they might say “Lord!” or “Jesus!” (depending on their accent). Someone who wants to praise him might say “Glory!” or “Hallelujah!” Someone who wants him to calm down might say “Hey there.” And if two people are arguing over who gets to go first, one person might shout out “Stop it!” or “Wait your turn!”

Even though there are many different ways to say his name, each one means something different—and each one can help us understand more about our Savior’s mission on earth and what he wants for us as individuals. The more we understand about these names, the more we will be able to follow in his footsteps and become good followers ourselves.

Jesus is not the only person who is called Jesus in the Bible. There are other people named Jesus: John’s brother Judas, Judas Iscariot, Simon Peter’s son Judas (who became known as Jude), and Joseph’s son Jesus.

There are also many people named Joshua, who means “Yahweh saves.” This includes Joshua son of Nun and his successor Caleb; Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb’s successor Othniel; and Joshua the high priest who lived during King David’s reign.
