One of the most well-known archangels mentioned in the Bible is Michael. He is often depicted as a courageous and powerful warrior who fights against evil forces and protects God’s people. In the Book of Daniel,
The seven holy angels who watch are mentioned in Chapter 20 of the Book of Enoch. These angels are commonly referred to as the seven archangels. They are Michael, Raphael, Gabriel, Uriel, Sariel, Raguel, and Remiel. The archangels are also included in the Life of Adam and Eve: Michael, Gabriel, Uriel, Raphael, and Joel.

What Are Archangels In The Bible
Archangels are a type of angel that is mentioned in the Bible. The word “archangel” comes from the Greek word “archangelos,” which means “chief angel.” Archangels are believed to be at the top of the angelic hierarchy in terms of power and authority. They are created by God and have a number of purposes they fill, lining the Old and New Testaments of Scripture.
The Bible mentions several archangels by name, including Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. These three archangels are the only ones named in the Bible, and they each have a unique role to play in the history of salvation.
Michael is often referred to as the “Prince of the Heavenly Host” and is considered the leader of all the angels. His name means “Who is like God?” and he is often depicted as a warrior angel who fights against evil forces. Michael is mentioned several times in the Bible, including in the book of Daniel and in the book of Revelation.
Gabriel is known as the “messenger angel” and is often associated with the announcement of important news. He is the angel who appeared to Mary to announce that she would give birth to Jesus 5. Gabriel is also mentioned in the book of Daniel, where he interprets a vision for the prophet.
Raphael is known as the “healing angel” and is often associated with the restoration of health. He is mentioned in the book of Tobit, where he helps Tobit’s son Tobias on his journey.
In addition to these three archangels, there are other angels in the hierarchy below them. These include the cherubim and seraphim, who are also mentioned in the Bible.
The Bible does not provide a complete list of all the archangels that exist, but some sources suggest that there are seven archangels in total. These include Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Raguel, Sariel, and Remiel . However, it is important to note that the Bible does not explicitly mention these archangels by name, and their existence is based on extra-biblical sources .
Archangels In The Bible And Their Duties
Only two verses in the Bible include the word “archangel,” which is a biblical term. In the book of First Thessalonians, chapter 4, verse 16, it is written that “For the Lord Himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.” The other scripture is found in Jude 1:9, which states, “But even the archangel Michael, when he was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said, ‘The Lord rebuke you!'” In the Bible, Michael is the only archangel that is specifically named.
A Greek term called archangelos, which means “chief angel,” is where the English word “archangel” originates from. It is a composite term that was developed from the words archon, which means “chief” or “ruler,” and aggelos, which means “angel” or “messenger.” According to the Bible, there is a hierarchy of leadership among angels, and an archangel appears to be the leader of other angels. This statement is made in several places throughout the Bible.
In the same way that all angels are personal creatures, archangels are also created by God. They have wisdom, power, and grandeur in their possession. As opposed to being of a bodily nature, they are spiritual in nature. Those who serve God and carry out His will are known as archangels.
Given that Jude 1:9 makes use of the definite article the while referring to the archangel Michael, it is possible that this passage is implying that Michael is the sole archangel. In contrast, the book of Daniel chapter 10 verse 13 refers to Michael as “one of the chief princes.” Due to the fact that this places Michael on the same level as the other “chief princes,” it may be an indication that there is more than one archangel. It is therefore advisable not to presume upon the Word of God by identifying other angels as archangels, despite the fact that it is likely that there are more than one archangel. Even in the event that there are more than one archangel, it would appear that Michael is the most powerful of them all.
An angel identifies Michael, the archangel, as “your prince” in the book of Daniel chapter 10 verse 21. From the fact that the angel is speaking to Daniel and the fact that Daniel is a Jew, we interpret the remark made by the angel to suggest that Michael is tasked with the responsibility of supervising the Jewish people. According to Daniel 12:1, Michael is referred to as “the great prince who protects your [Daniel’s] people.” This interpretation is supported by the passage. It is possible that additional archangels are tasked with the responsibility of defending other nations; however, the Bible does not name these archangels. It would appear that fallen angels also have “territories,” since Daniel makes reference to a spiritual “prince of Greece” and a spiritual “prince of Persia” who are in opposition to the holy angel that delivered the news to Daniel (Daniel 10:20).
According to Daniel 10, carrying out spiritual warfare is one of the responsibilities that an archangel is responsible for. One of the roles that the archangel plays in the coming of Christ for His church is described in 1 Thessalonians chapter 4. There is also a battle between Satan and Michael the Archangel, which is described in Jude 1:9. Despite the fact that he possessed the strength and majesty of an archangel, Michael prayed to the Lord to put Satan in his place. This demonstrates not just how powerful Satan is, but also how dependent Michael is on the strength that God possesses. In the same way that the archangel petitions the Lord for assistance, should we not do the same?
As a result, the Holy Scriptures assign a specific mission to each of the Archangels.
As the defender of those who love God (Dn 10, 13.21), the guardian of the people of God (Dn 12, 1), and the warrior who battles against Satan and his messengers (Jn 9, Ap 12, 7, cf. Zec 13: 1-2), Michael defends those who love God.
Gabriel is one of the spirits who is closest to God, standing before his celestial throne (Lk 1, 19). He is the one who disclosed the mysteries of God’s plan to Daniel (Dn 8, 16; 9, 21-22). Gabriel also proclaimed the birth of John the Baptist to Zechariah (Lk 1, 11-20) and the birth of Jesus to Mary (Lk 1, 26-38).
Raphael is seen standing before the throne of God (Matthew 12:15; see also Revelation 8:2), he accompanied and protected Tobias on his dangerous voyage, and he cured his father from blindness and his future bride from the spell of Satan.
In general, therefore, the mission of the three Archangels, in addition to contemplating God, is to express His Will to man in a variety of ways, to serve as a source of inspiration for human people, and to act as catalysts of divine grace for them.

Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while. Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed. Also I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended. This is the first resurrection. …

And the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and to test him they asked him to show them a sign from heaven. He answered them, “When it is evening, you say, ‘It will be fair weather, for the sky is red.’ And in the morning, ‘It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening.’ You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah.” So he left them and departed. Behold, a day is coming for the Lord, when the spoil taken from you will be divided in your midst. For I will gather all the nations against Jerusalem to battle, and the city shall be taken and the houses plundered and the women raped. Half of the city shall go out into exile, but the rest of the people shall not be cut off from the city. Then the Lord will go out and fight against those nations as when he fights on a day of battle. On that day his feet shall stand on the Mount of Olives that lies before Jerusalem on the east, and the Mount of Olives shall be split in two from east to west by a very wide valley, so that one half of the Mount shall move northward, and the other half southward. And you shall flee to the valley of my mountains, for the valley of the mountains shall reach to Azal. And you shall flee as you fled from the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the Lord my God will come, and all the holy ones with him. …

Dead flies make the perfumer’s ointment give off a stench; so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor. A wise man’s heart inclines him to the right, but a fool’s heart to the left. Even when the fool walks on the road, he lacks sense, and he says to everyone that he is a fool. If the anger of the ruler rises against you, do not leave your place, for calmness will lay great offenses to rest. Guard your steps when you go to the house of God. To draw near to listen is better than to offer the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they are doing evil. Be not rash with your mouth, nor let your heart be hasty to utter a word before God, for God is in heaven and you are on earth. Therefore let your words be few. For a dream comes with much business, and a fool’s voice with many words. When you vow a vow to God, do not delay paying it, for he has no pleasure in fools. Pay what you vow. It is better that you should not vow than that you should vow and not pay. …

Conclusion
In conclusion, archangels are a type of angel that is mentioned in the Bible. They are believed to be at the top of the angelic hierarchy in terms of power and authority. The Bible mentions several archangels by name, including Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael. These three archangels each have a unique role to play in the history of salvation. While there are other angels in the hierarchy below them, the Bible does not provide a complete list of all the archangels that exist. It is a topic that is worth exploring further if you are interested in spirituality or religion.
