Sermons For End of Year

It’s been a wonderful year for us here at [church name], and we’ve all enjoyed the opportunity to get to know each other better as we’ve come together in community. We want to thank you for your continued support and participation—you’re what makes this place so special!

As we look back at the year that was, we can’t help but be reminded of all the many ways God has worked through us and in us. He truly is our rock and salvation, and he gives us strength when we need it most.

In 2 Samuel 22:1-2, David writes: “I love you, O LORD my strength.” In those verses, David is describing his experience with God, how he knows that God is his strength and his salvation—and how he wants nothing more than to worship him

Review the year’s highlights.

  • Review the year’s highlights.

Reviewing the highlights of your year is a great way to begin your sermon. This can be done through a list, a slideshow, or even just by sharing stories of good things that have happened in your life. As you’re talking about these things, try to draw connections between them and themes from this sermon series (i.e., how they show God’s love for us).

Review the yearly goals and reflect on how far you have come.

In the end, it’s important to take a moment to reflect on your yearly goals. Did you achieve them? Were there any unexpected breakthroughs? What can you carry over into next year?

Let’s face it: goals are difficult to keep and we often give up well before we reach them. Don’t be discouraged if this happens; instead, look back at where you started and see how far you have come!

Reflect on items that need to be carried over into the next year.

Reflect on items that need to be carried over into the next year. What are the lessons you have learned? What are the things you still want to do? What are the things you want to do differently? And so on.

In addition, think about any items from your past or current life that you would like to stop doing altogether. Write them down as well—this list can be long or short, depending on how much time you have for it and how many things really bother you in your life right now.

The end of a year is a good time to check in with yourself and how far you have come.

The end of a year is a good time to check in with yourself and how far you have come. The following are other good times to check in with yourself:

  • Every day (but not too often)
  • Once a week (but not too infrequently)

Making sure that you are achieving your goals and reviewing how well you are performing can be done at any time, but it’s best to do so on a regular basis.
