Priest Ask For Prayers? Here’s How To Make Sure They Are Heard: a blog around prayer and how you can make it heard.
When we overlook prayer, we miss out on so many benefits that it provides that enrich our lives. That is why we are going to take a look at 10 benefits of prayer that I pray will encourage you to grow deeper into your communion with God.
Prayer is not only something that Jesus teaches us how to do in Matthew 6:9-13. But it is also something that we read in scripture that He frequently did.
“But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” – Luke 5:16
We learn the importance of prayer from Christ.
Prayer is something that He made time for, even if it meant getting up early in the morning. It is something He spent time in diligently, even if He had a day of traveling, teaching, or healing ahead of Him.
Jesus prioritized prayer because Jesus prioritized the Father. It is His will that Jesus sought and not His own.
Whether you are praying for your family, your health, special occasions, or just everyday prayers, here are the reasons why you should pray.
Prayer for Preachers
Lord, I come before you to ask for your blessing, wisdom and grace as I prepare to preach Your word. I know that the words I speak today will be heard by many people, who will receive them as they are meant to be received. Please give me the ability to remain focused on You and Your will as I speak. Give me the ability to communicate clearly and effectively so that my listeners may understand what it is that You want them to hear.
Help me not to be afraid of speaking the truth or of making hard decisions based on what is right in Your eyes alone. Help me to trust in You when people disagree with my decisions or when they choose not to listen because they do not like what I say or how I say it. In all things, help me remember that this world belongs to You and that nothing can separate us from Your love for us or from Your plan for our lives (Romans 8:38-39).
Thank You for hearing my prayer and empowering me with Your Spirit as I go forth today!
Dear Lord,
We come before you today to ask for your guidance and wisdom as we consider how best to preach your word. Please give us the words and ideas that will help us be better pastors and teachers, and please bless our congregations with good preaching so that they may gain knowledge and understanding of your great love for them.
In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
Dear God, I come before you today to ask for your guidance and wisdom in my preaching. I know that this is a great responsibility and one that I do not take lightly. Please help me to be a good example of your love and mercy, and to show the world how much you love them.
God, please help me to be an instrument of your grace and mercy in sharing your word with others.
I pray for all those who will hear my words today—that they may be moved by the Spirit of God and changed by the power of his word.
Prayers For Pastors Strength
Please give me strength, courage, wisdom and clarity as I speak on behalf of our Savior Jesus Christ today.
Father, we come before you today to ask for the wisdom and strength to lead our flock in the way that you want. Help us to speak with a clear voice, and help us to listen with open hearts and minds. Give us the words that are needed, and give us an understanding of when it is best to keep silent.
We know that you have called us to this ministry because you have seen our hearts, and have chosen us as your servants. We pray for patience, wisdom, humility and courage in everything we do: from preaching the gospel to teaching children about Jesus Christ; from guiding members through times of suffering or loss; from leading our community into new areas of service where they can be most effective at serving Christ’s mission here on earth.
We pray that you will help us love one another as we love ourselves—that we will continue growing together in our faith so that we may become more like Christ each day. And as we look forward to celebrating Easter Sunday in just two weeks’ time, we pray that through your grace all of us may be transformed into people who reflect your glory in all aspects of life!
Dear God,
As I prepare to preach this morning, I ask that you open my heart and mind to your word. Let me know the messages you want me to share with this congregation, and help me communicate them clearly and effectively.
I also ask that you give me the strength to avoid distractions as I speak, including any temptation to make jokes or inject humor into the sermon. Please guide my every word so that they may be an instrument of your grace for these people who are looking for answers.
In Jesus’ name I pray, amen
Dear Lord,
I have been asked to preach this morning. I am honored that you have called me to speak in your name. I pray for wisdom and guidance as I prepare for this sermon. Please help me to speak clearly, so that my listeners will be able to understand what I am saying. Help me to use words that are true and right, so that my listeners will be edified by the message you have given me. Lord, please protect me from speaking foolishly or maliciously. Let your Holy Spirit guide my thoughts and words today as we celebrate your resurrection! Amen
Dear Lord,
Thank you for the opportunity to speak today. I pray that my words will be clear and concise, so that all who hear me may understand the message you have given me.
Please keep my mind focused on your word, and help me remember those who are listening. Bless them with understanding, and help them to use the knowledge they gain from this sermon to grow closer to You. Through Christ’s name I pray, amen.
