Prayer For Prayer Meeting

When we overlook prayer, we miss out on so many benefits that it provides that enrich our lives. That is why we are going to take a look at 10 benefits of prayer that I pray will encourage you to grow deeper into your communion with God.

Prayer is not only something that Jesus teaches us how to do in Matthew 6:9-13. But it is also something that we read in scripture that He frequently did.

“But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” – Luke 5:16

We learn the importance of prayer from Christ.

Prayer is something that He made time for, even if it meant getting up early in the morning. It is something He spent time in diligently, even if He had a day of traveling, teaching, or healing ahead of Him.

Jesus prioritized prayer because Jesus prioritized the Father. It is His will that Jesus sought and not His own.

Whether you are praying for your family, your health, special occasions, or just everyday prayers, here are the reasons why you should pray.

Prayer For Prayer Meeting

Dear God,

Thank you for being with us today. We pray to you that we may be able to better serve our community and ourselves through this time of prayer and contemplation.

We ask that you guide us through our meeting today as we seek to better understand what it means to be a good neighbor, a good person, and a good Christian. We want to try harder to be kinder people and make sure all are welcome in our circle of friends, family members, and co-workers. We want to do our part to make sure that everyone is treated with respect and dignity.

We pray for those who are less fortunate than us, including those who are struggling financially or have lost their jobs due to illness or other causes. We pray for those who don’t have access to clean water or healthcare services—or even food! And we pray for those who are suffering from mental illnesses like depression or anxiety because they feel alone in their struggles and fear that no one will listen if they speak up about what they’re going through. Also please keep an eye out on me because [insert problem here]. Thank you!

Dear Lord,

We come before you today and ask for your guidance.

We pray that you will protect our family, friends, and neighbors from harm. We pray that you will help us to remember that we are just one piece of a larger puzzle, and that your plan is grander than any of ours could ever be. We pray for our leaders—may they be filled with wisdom and goodness in all their decisions. And we pray for those who are suffering: may their burdens become lighter through your grace, may they find comfort in knowing that there is a loving God who cares about them just as much as he does about us.

Thank you for this day, Lord, and all the days ahead!

Dear God, we come before you today to ask for your guidance. We know that our mission is to serve those in need, but sometimes we feel like we aren’t doing enough. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve, but we also want to feel like our efforts are making a difference.

Please help us see beyond the mundane and focus on what truly matters: helping people in need. Give us the strength and wisdom to be effective in our work, so that we can give back to those who have been given less than they deserve.

We pray that you will help us continue this journey of service with joy and gratitude, knowing that it is not our own efforts that matter most but the results they bring.

Dear God, we know that you are always with us, and we thank you for your guidance.

We pray for our leaders, that they would be inspired by the Holy Spirit to make the right decisions for our community.

We pray for those who are suffering from illness or injury, that their health will improve and their spirits will be lifted.

We pray for those who are in need of employment, that they will find a job that suits their skills and passions so that they can provide for themselves and their families.

We pray for those who are struggling with addiction, that they will find the strength to overcome it through faith in Christ.

Meaningful Prayer Before Meeting

Dear God,

We come before you today to ask for your guidance and protection as we gather to pray. Please give us the strength to do what is right and to be our best selves as we work together and support one another.

This week has been a trying one for all of us, but we know that with your help, we will get through it. And even though it may feel like things are falling apart around us, we know that you have a plan for each of us—and that it’s going to be okay.

We thank you for being our rock when things seem shaky; for giving us strength when we need it most; for giving us peace in times of stress; for leading us safely through the stormiest seas; and for helping us find our way back home when we’ve strayed too far from where you want us to be.

Dear God, thank you for this day. Please watch over my friends and family, especially those in need. I pray that they will be blessed with a happy and healthy life. Help me to always be a good listener and friend to everyone who needs me. Amen

Dear Lord,

Please help me today to remember that even though I may be surrounded by people who have different opinions than me, they are still human beings and deserve my respect. Even if they don’t believe in what I believe, or think the way I think, or look at the world in a way that feels alien to me—they’re still human beings. And I should treat them with love and respect because of that.

I know that sometimes it’s easy for me to forget this when people disagree with me. But today, please help me remember that our differences are not as important as our similarities: we all breathe air; we all need water; we all have bodies that require food.

Even though it may be hard sometimes—especially when there are people around me who don’t agree with me—please help me remember how much more important it is for us to work together than it is for us to struggle against each other.

Thank you for your guidance today and always.
